Its a dying art though Eg, each time one of the kids ( we had about 9 here and all their network of friends ) would have a party, they would camp out by the river near our 'meditation sanctuary ' . I would go down at night and tell stories by the fire, they would always demand a 'scary one ', over only 2 years I saw this degenerate to ; sleeping bags on the sanctuary floor, no fire, no cooking ( snack and crap food ) and ( the reason they are in sanctuary is , although it is an open building with no walls on the river side, it has electricity connected ) they all plugged in and playing computer games, and no one gets a fire together or wants to hear stories. Sad. Not so with the indigenous here though ... the LOVE em ! I have a story based on some early history ; Pemulway ! Man of earth - The Rainbow Warrior ..... its got acting , gesturing, dancing .... a fake eye prop .... ( I can use a pipi shell and come charcoal from the fore ) , oh yeah, scary parts - of course ... the whole bit . The LOVE it ! But I do and have done a great variety of things so it changes . In the film industry I was known as Dr Bacon ... known for my bacon ... wtf ! I was known for my radio show I used to do - 'Pagan Roots ' ( that changed to a night show ; 'Pagan Knights' ... then it became ' Pagan Knights Rooting ' ... but the station made me change that name . In my community I guess I have been known to be a mediator and trouble sorter outer ( thinks .... hmmmm ... I have had 4 jobs like that . ) I have also been known as a satanic baby eater type ..... with some , and in the same area , with others as an eclectic occultist. . Last three GFs say I am known for being a nice guy .... never a problem with me and my anger or temper ... VERY patient and understanding ( they tell me that some time AFTER our relationship ) yet my lawyer said I look like the type of guy that would stab someone . ... Also I suspect I may have been known for 'something else' that the ladies were gossiping about .... cant think why else I used to have all those GFs back then ( too old now ) ... I certainly aint a good looker nor got the usual qualities . Oh yeah ... for a while back I was known as a tarot reader , as I used to do it at the markets , thats a public exposure . Also I git known for a time for focalising about 6 of our alternative festivals . Thats was over about 8 years. Many people got to know who I was ... I had no idea who they were when they would later say hello .... even when I went to work interstate ... I would just bluff it , say hi and smile . Once this lady starts raving to me at a shopping mall .... I am tying to bluff but got busted , she "You dont even know who I am do you ! ? Anyone train with a spear ? I have been watching a view vids on it . I have been training for a while with jo and bo ( and other weapons ) , a lot of jo seems to come from spear work. I was looking at mostly Filipino / Malay stuff, which, for me , seems better . Particularly bamboo spear So I made one ( I got lots of bamboo ) and got some rubber and carved a spear point (bladed ), half way in length between jo and bo . I am looking at slashing and thrusting moves, incorporating what I learnt from jo and bo , and the 25 set jo pattern I developed for the club . I will take it to training tomorrow and see how it goes against a variety of weapons . I know what will happen; one look at the bamboo and they are gonna try and smash and split it. So I will have to be 'slippery' and evasive , also I have bound the shaft above and below the nodes for support. If it does get smashed, I just replace the head on another culm (but I will go and cut some 'iron bamboo ' for that and surprise them next time I shall return and tell you how it went .... if I survive ; Most bamboo Iron bamboo

Anyways , instructor challenged my spear ... he chose a bokken . Cleaned him up , he would have had several slashes and one good thrust to the chest. Then I made a mistake, I thrusted, he parried, and I closed in but, he was getting a little frustrated, so he grabbed the spear shaft and we ended up in a wrestle. He still had one hand on the sword and that was waving around during the extended clash, so I didnt feel sake to do what I would normally do if someone grabbed a staff. So now I have the spear and am controlling his sword and arm with that and he is trying to wrestle the spear shaft around and trying to slice me with the other hand . This is starting to get interesting . He let go and tried to punch me in the side of the head as I had both hands on the spear shaft, but I blocked it with an elbow lift and ducked, then he tried a few more blows, but I was now low so I flicked him with little back fist to the nuts, that slowed him down and was able to push him off when he lost balance , as he retreated back I followed with three quick thrusts, the first two he parried but my 3rd was a slightly different angle, got past the sword between his arms and right over the heart just to the right of the breast bone, so I pushed and made a loud kiai .... which seemed to make him realise that was a 'good one' so he admitted defeat . Even though that actually happened at the beginning ..... but hey, he is the 'instructor' so I had to give him some ' leeway '

Well, just about all of it I suppose ... through my life constantly. I get used to it and dont notice, but occasionally a friend, if I start spending more time with them, go on a trip , or in the past, had new GF .... and they " What the hell is going on with you ! ?
