Yes, it is easy for them to eat off a plate (or shallow bowl) but not for a stork.

I feel that isnt a good spot . lets face facts, we are going to have to defend it . I suggest somewhere in open water and we build the island.

Yes .... you gotta watch out for 'them' ( or 'they' ) .... a nasty bunch they are
-
YES! Which is why I was narrowing down what actually IS the thing that makes mankind different from the other animals (not the things he does, but the function of the human that allows them to do these different things.

Indeed, they cannot. But who needs a fork to eat a banana ? A fox can eat off a plate, but a stork cannot. A stork can eat out of a long jar but a fox cannot. There is a moral to that story .

On the coast or off the coast ... it was supposed to be an island . I suppose its the translation of 'beyond the Pillars of Hercules .... many see that as the Straights of Gibraltar , but others claim it could have been within the Mediterranean. Most (that do this stuff) see it a bit south , off the coast of North Africa / Morocco .

So far we have the 'wonderful and enlightened' Atlantis - which was actually a tyrannical state Utopia - OU ( not ) topus (place ) - no place , nowhere / not possible ... any more ?
-
Of course, if we were to create a modern Atlantis ... and wanted it to be like the 'real' Atlantis it would have to be like ..... " in the Timaeus, it was Atlantis that was represented as a tyrannical state which started a war of conquest aimed at the whole Europe and Asia " Are we including this in our visions ?

In the interests of cultural diversification and preservation, I think they should be allowed to take one or two a year.

Donald, What is your take on Kircher's Map of 'Atlantis' and any validity it has (as it was put up previously as some type of evidence ) ?

Yes, by keeping the likes of us away from them ! I would suggest my area - but I dont want all those people coming here ! I would suggest (since this is a fantasy ) that we include some time travel ... we go back to what was , perhaps, the original concept of Atlantis - Airyana Vaeja ... if it was 1/2 as good as they made out .... I would move there ! WE would need a god king and to implement the code (perhaps like Cyrus the Great - he followed the Zoroastrian code of good kingship ) Zoroastrian texts describe Airyana Vaeja as being mountainous with fertile meadows and valleys. In addition, the opening words of the Avestan Vendidad's chapter listing the sixteen nations, states that if God had not made other countries beautiful in some manner, all the world would have swarmed into Airyana Vaeja on account of its great beauty and - as mentioned elsewhere in the Avesta (see next paragraph) - because of its wise king and good government, law and order, noble people and serenity. Airyana Vaeja was a paradise on earth - a land of peace and serenity, the best place to live and raise a family. The heavenly nature of Airyana Vaeja during the Jamshidi era (see Weather Change below) reached mythic proportions in Yasht 19.33, the Zamyad Yasht. Then, the weather was neither cold nor hot, there was no untruth and envy, people were undying, water and plants never drying. All because King Jamshid ruled wisely and the people lived honestly. However, when the king lost his grace and the people lost their noble ways, Airyana Vaeja became a paradise lost. Tibetan Buddhism's book of Kala-Chakra, the Time-Cycle, and Tibetan Buddhism's predecessor religion,Bon, built on and popularized this concept of a lost and hidden paradise on earth, now known to the world as Shangri-La. The Palmer region - the 'Feet of Mithra' where the western Himalaya range drops down into ancient Bactria (and the once fertile plains) - now desert and the river systems down to the Aral Sea (now also drying out and dying ) to the SW and to the N the main Silk Route into China, the SE over the Hindu Kush into India (no wonder they had a good spot ! ) Hmmm ... somehow, we would have to rid of the pollution and climate problems (oh, and the constant wars there ) ... climate change is are even effecting Bhutan , who has little to do with generating the problem , but will suffer greatly from it (if stuff starts melting ) http://www.heritageinstitute.com/zoroastrianism/aryans/location.htm http://www.heritageinstitute.com/zoroastrianism/tajikistan/page3.htm

Tell me how this demonstrates that Atlantis was a real island or presents any evidence in favor of 'Atlantis Theory'. Let's not lose track of what the debate is actually about. However, to answer your question , yes, I may have made a mistake (in that it was ancient Athens that Plato considered an ideal state and not Atlantis - a mere mix up of words ... but yes, a mistake and in that I admit error ) ; Plato is talking about what can happen to an ideal state, how corruption can settle in, it is an analogy about how times were perceived in the past in a 'Greek Golden Age' and how and why they degenerated BUT I am no Classical Greek scholar, and lets NOT let that interfere with the issue at hand. My mistake in no way gives the concept of Atlantis being a real island that sunk and a surviving civilisation that spread throughout the world teaching advancement any validity whatsover. - which maybe we should clarify ; I contend that Atlantis was never a real place and any ideas about it being real (even if Plato said it was - for effect ) , an actual island, that sank and people 'went out' and delivered their supreme tech, society and all good stuff into the world , is a load of post Donelliean post Victorian as yet un researched and un investigated hogwash ... a la Donovan (singer ) , rehashed New Age stuff etc . But dont take my word for it : " Atlantis (Ancient Greek: Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος, "island of Atlas") is a fictional island mentioned within an allegory on thehubris of nations in Plato's works Timaeus and Critias, where it represents the antagonist naval power that besieges "Ancient Athens", the pseudo-historic embodiment of Plato's ideal state (see The Republic). In the story, Athens repels the Atlantean attack, unlike any other nation of the (western) known world,%5B1%5D supposedly giving testament to the superiority of Plato's concept of a state.%5B2%5D%5B3%5D At the end of the story, Atlantis eventually falls out of favor with the gods and famously submerges into the Atlantic Ocean. " i.e. Is a fictional island , the story is an allegory, it is psuedo-historic, the story is about the idea of Plato's ideal state, and at the end that is when Atlantis 'falls out of favour' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantis (also note ; " On the other hand, 19th-century amateur scholars misinterpreted Plato's account as historical tradition, most notably in Ignatius L. Donnelly's Atlantis: The Antediluvian World. (my emphasis) ... looking forward to next 'installment'

They may be able to fly off the branch better, but when it comes to sitting ... you are the champ !

Birds sit very comfortably on their branch of the tree of life.

actually I was responding to the question you asked me ..... " If you want to talk about what YOU know, go right ahead, I'm listening. " If a demonstration of people actually doing these things and proving how they could have been done with simple but innovative stone age and bronze age 'technology' and are able to demonstrate it - is considered a 'rant' .....

hang on ... that has been taken . YHVH : Ya ho vah : Yah weh ( You know ,,,, the Hebrew 'invisible vowel' thing ..... the V / W translation thing ? )
