Oooooooh doesnt it ! I have had many roles over the years .... in groups. All sorts of things ;from the Chaiperson of an LSA ( Local Spiritual Assembly in the Bahai's - they do not have clergy but an elected body of 9 to help manage the affairs of each community) to a priest in EGC , to a rather frequent Chairperson ( and implemented the whole proper 'business meeting model ' into the chaos of company meetings) of this community when I arrived 40 years back , right up to the indigenous circle / fire work I got involved with amidst the craziness of a 'hippy festival' ( which only finished yesterday ... phew ! ) But the other side ( aside from the issues ANY group has due to diverse people coming together ) can be enormous and have allowed us to put on some rather spectacular events . I prefer the term Fancy pants , ( otherwise known as 'goat leggings' ) It wasnt that fancy though, Wicca is light and it can be mostly fun . One time I was sort of thrown in to the High Priest role in a ritual that ended up being so much fun and rather crazy . For some reason the real High Priest was going to use a penis shaped 'soap - on - a rope ' .... remember them ? - soap on a rope I meant , not penises ! ..... as the wand . Oh dear . Later during this ritual I was supposed to chase the 'spring maiden' around the circle . I didnt know a lot of those people in the circle, I was visiting with people from my group and we were in another area. We had been doing a play rehersal previously and decided to go to this ritual still in costume ( characetrs included Pan , a Satyr, a Moon Goddess , a nymph, a pixie ..... we got there late and appeared out the bushes at the circle that had all these people that didnt know us ... that must have been a surprise for them ! Later I went up to the 'spring maiden ' ; ''You know, traditionally after this we would slip into the bushes and have nookie .'' , as a joke . And this innocent young woman goes ''Oh ... oh, all right then .'' Ohhhh dear ! I made the joke worse by saying it was a joke but if she was interested she could have my 'wand' as a present . and handed her my soap on a rope ... and she took it and said thank you ! I can bet you that by now ( that was many years ago) somewhere around the very hip and touristy area of Byron Bay , there is a large underground witch coven , with a High Priestess that keeps a sacred relic of her authority , handed to her by a satyr, many moons ago in a ritual , in a grove , now on her alter , concealed in a treasure box . I find the 'Egyptian' incantation work as a type of 'kotodama' while the English helps with conceptual visualizations ... and with those both one might be able to imagine the effects of long term invocation 4 times a day . * a typo ; k .... f (oooops ! ... I you wouldnt be doing that 4 times a day long term ... you would only get 'one shot at it ' .

Those adorations were part of recommended practice and originally I was ... nah, not into that . I have strong Cancerian and Neptunian influence in my natal chart and 'life stream ' ; very lunar goddess oriented (and had been working in a couple of coverns , doing my '2nd degree Wicca ' (before all this ) and sometimes doing the Wiccan priest role ( which is mainly supporting the Priestess ) . In retrospect the solar adorations were recommended as I needed that balance - I realised that later . I have limited time at the moment . To list that would take pages as some times I did all of them every single day four times a day for months on end ( I think any practice done like that is bound to create effects ! ) . I will list one benefit . it took me ages to figure out . Why is the setting sun associated with joy ? I didnt know but I made myself feel and contemplate joy during that 'adoration' ( it consists of a prescribed and outlined ritual but within that is a space for meditation , what you meditate 'on' is prescribed by your teacher { 'inner or outer ' } ) . Sometimes I would have a great day and feel joy and gratitude for that . Then that spread to every day . Then even hard or bad days ( at least now that is over ) , I like the night as well and feel comfortable in the dark . It was a great 'closing' to the day . And of course a reflection of our life's journey and my death ... joy at death . Why not ? Then it spread to joy for being alive and experiencing every day , then the joy of 'existence ' . Then gratitude and appreciation for life . After a while I am walking around in this appreciative amazed state . And then other parts of the ritual and effects 'hurl me back ' to ancient Egypt where perhaps they experienced something like this? I have it in a story I wrote... somewhere ; 'The Egyptian' ... it starts something like ' I arose one morning early and before I went to plow the fields , I walked down to the river to greet Ra in his rising ....( and stuff about , watching a bird high in the sky , a fish jumps in the water etc etc a) ... and I rejoiced knowing ( here is the crux ) ... that I am ALIVE inside the body of God . Well, Thelema , in this aspect is 'dodgy neo-Egyptian ' It uses Egyptian metaphors to teach concepts in Thelema but not so much concepts in ancient Egypt , whatever they were . With all the indigenous stuff I been doing lately its easy to see Nuit - Queen of space and the stars ... Wallenganda Mother snake in the sky - the Milky Way . He turned up with his Mum ( who is a local indigenous elder ) for the festival that is going on here at the moment . So we slipped a session in . But being a 'hippy peace festival' I decided to slip off somewhere private , so we went into a clearing in the bamboo grove , Wow, flashbacks . I havent trained in that bamboo grove for years ! he is keen to do some sword so we did that . Sword in bamboo grove is very interesting, once you are out of any cleared space into the thicker parts , you can only do vertical cuts and thrusts between the bamboo. and to avoid a cut the other can move away from the 'gap' between bamboo culms, very 'tactical' game . It also gave me a chance to demonstrate one of teachers points about footwork ; he had a very distinctive style of a sort of deliberate lift up put down of the feet . No sliding feet around , making arcs , etc . Why ? because in the real world the ground is nothing like a dojo or gym floor ... or even a grass lawn . ..... I caught my foot on a bamboo stump and 'faltered ' .... slash ! .... me 'dead' .

I have decided the best course of action is to hoof it to the nearest town and do some research on .... 'you know who's' location. Oh ..... damn ! I just remembered I cant speak Portuguese !

Agreed . How can anyone involved in the western magical tradition NOT appreciate Tool ... even if one does not like that type of music . I was presenting a little agricultural talk as a way of explaining my 3:4 observation * ( not 'theory' as it is an observation from nature ) . I draw a triangle on the whiteboard and label each corner N P K - nitrogen , phosphorous , potassium ; the three main elements needed for good soil and plant growth . BUT more is needed , the 'micro nutrients ' ( much smaller amounts ) . So I draw a line across the inside the bottom left corner to represent them . There are three main micro nutrients and a bunch of lesser ones , so now we can label the three points of this triangle in the corner of the bigger one . and also draw a line across its inner bottom left for the lesser ones and guess what ... within that there are three major ones and a bunch of lesser ones . I paused and looked at the drawing ... it only just dawned on me .... hey ! Thats a fractal ! Fractal ; in which similar patterns recur at progressively smaller scales, and in describing partly random or chaotic phenomena such as crystal growth and galaxy formation. * its in my PP .
