I want to stand on that 'rostrum of tremendous phrase ' ( so I can see what comes out of my mouth )

Poor Jung ... again ! But now I understand ... he is coming from the p[lace of being in a culture that has lost the art of supplying what he needs. Initiation, in part is that the culture should help fulfill and appreciate that need in the individual, It is only the culture in crisis and the society failing that acts the way he indicates. Not surprising though, as we are immersed in a failing culture.

Indeed! This a special jewel I found present when working with refugees, some of whom were torture victims. I even met a woman , who manged to emerge, like the Sun and create a new world ... even through this horrific path , part of it was sharing her pain , she showed us where the torture had scarred her, and removed parts of her body. Even on this 'path' she had emerged radiant . I asked her how she could ever forgive those that did it. Her reply was, she has become transformed, it was bad enough what she endured, but the people that did it to her had an even more difficult path of getting through it, she said, "I dont even know, if I myself had done such a thing to someone, I would have been able to transform myself ... I would probably still be lost and wretched in the process. " She was an Iranian and one of the most physically beautiful and spiritually beautiful people I have met.

The great loss IMO is out rites of passage and initiation. In my anthropological studies ( not just in the armchair, I have gone out into the 'field' and actually done some of this stuff) , peoples of different cultures , times and places suffer similar issues, individually and collectively, when they lose this knowledge and process. The whole point of initiation is to connect all these things. IN our modern world, where it is not considered significant ... and combine that with the damage socially of things like the Industrial revolution , and how now we are considered 'factory automatons' and other unnatural situations (for primates, which we are ) like the breaking down of extended family units into 'nuclear families' . Of course, modern sensible reasonable 'scientifically minded' man realizes we dont need these 'suspicions' and 'primitive behaviors' .... every thing runs fine without it . Does it now ? ... I think not !

Aha ! I wasnt going to go further with the tarot above ... but here you have it ! Check out this progression; Lower right, going left, after the 'turning point' of "the Great Wheel' ; need for 'Adjustment' , then hanged Man followed by Death and Transformation, then a bit of alchemy and the ART of transformation, the 'Lord of Initiation' into the 'all' Pan - Devil card, Tower ( as in above post) , the light of the 'star sublime' leading one through the path of The Moon ( or 'dark night' or desert) and out into the Sun, new dawn, into the new Aeon and a new Universe being created. Hmmm ... I am also wondering what age you are , re astrological 'returns' and transits. ... Sterny could be a great help there ?

yes, frustration causes tension ... we want to act on it - somehow . We need to act on it, so we start producing chemicals, like adrenaline, which helps us act quickly. But if we dont act, we dont 'burn it off' and it stagnates and changes into other chemicals and states ; tension, stress, burn out, and eventually depression. You need to act, do it ! You need to scream and swear - do it! Just consider right place and circumstance ... or sometimes , they want to carry you off for non-comformity. I 'saved' a woman once. I sorta knew her, she was going off in the middle of town and everyone was holding back , I could see she could be due for another 'visit' to the psyche ward, so I stepped in. She calmed down a bit after I told her, it was okay, just wrong place. Dont 'not do it' , but come out to my place, way up valley, away from town , go down the river, scream, shout, smash some rocks, rip your clothes off and run around naked ( which she was also want to do int town - a reason for her first incarceration. I am also reminded of an Irish story; the village wakes up one morning and Paddy is sitting on top of the phone box in the middle of the village. people want him to get down. They try to convince him. A policeman gets a ladder, halfway up Paddy kicks the ladder, it could be dangerous, even if the policeman gets up there, how to get him down without ricking injury to both. Eventually a friend turns up, "Let me talk to him." He goes up the ladder, chats and comes back down. "Look, for whatever reason he just wants to stay up there, it isnt hurting anyone, leave him be I say. " So they did. Later someone chucked a blanket up to him . The next day he came down. Maybe he just needed a 'new perspective' on things .... for a while ?

I suppose I am confused about the 'desert' metaphor , as I have seen it 'differently' ... but actually, it may because I am looking at the whole process, where you are 'in' a part of the process. The journey through the desert is a symbol of ones initiation process. It is considered to last a symbolic period of time ; three 'days' , nine 'Moons', etc. Jesus did it, Mohammed , Abraham, the whole Jewish people , and here (in Australia ) it is a very potent force (I have been with initiated Aboriginals and they stopped and were in awe "Look ... over there ... desert man .... he has high initiation ... we are like white people compared to that fellow. " And going out into that desert for one's own ' time of solitude' , is a phenomenal experience. 'Magically' , you either come back changed, or someone will come for you. In my case, someone came for me , 'captured' is the more correct term. Then I went through a series of initiations where I was eventually offered 'the water of life'. This is a central and ancient theme. - Ever read 'Dune' ... the theme was adopted for part of that story. Do not assume that the desert is empty " ‘The Soul is there in the dust, the red rocks and blue sky, the wind and rain, in the dunes and salt-lakes, in the people, and in the plant and animal life, waiting to be experienced, revealed, revered, by those who would look.’ Stephen D Hopper Its a bit like the ' dark night of the soul' ..... the big tunnel . Its just lost and black at first . Persevere .... invoke the 'psychopomp', even if that is an aspect of your own self. A comment on the 'Tower' (tarot card) seems relevant as well " Break down the fortress of thine individual self, that thy truth may spring free from the ruins" ~ Of course, without a guide, or knowledge of what one is doing, it is quiet possible to 'die of thirst' in the desert. Just as it is for man to 'lose his soul' if it is not nourished.

Its not me .... I look funnier than that . But I will pick up or catch a big carpet snake like that ( some times people ask me to get them out of their house or chook pen . They are amazing magical beings ! By the way ... I was looking at that morepie thread and I type mopie ... or some word like it , into my chrome search box set on image ( just to see what would come up) and your Daobums pic was the first pic at top left of page . That was pretty weird . -

Thanks for a snippet from his 'unpublished ' works . I have wanted to read ( at least some of ) the Red and Black books. Publication suppression attracts me . However ... here ^ and perhaps now, for me, Jung seems confused ? Especially between soul and self , and what is 'leading' what. I suppose it could be the translation. But yes, a man can lose his soul . The problem is, many have a strange concept , or lack of one, of , not what just the soul is, but what it needs. Without this, in some relevant form ( to culture, current paradigm and 'self process' ) the soul will 'die', retreat or begin to express itself in malignant ways . A man who has lost his soul is a hollow man. If culture and paradigm are right the 'shaman' can retrieve the soul and the man live a vibrant and expressive life again. But we have to understand what it is and what it needs as it is an underpinning driving force that needs expression.

I was converting my patch to BD, but I live on a community and some people messed up what I was doing. But now they are talking about making part of it BD ... but .... mhe .... I dont think they are really knowing what they are doing. For example, when I came here they were all permaculture wannabees , but then they started going garlic mono crops. I asked about that "Hey, you guys were going PC and now monoculture ??? " "Oh yeah ... but you can make a lot of money from garlic now." <best sarcastic tone > "Oh really ? I never would have thought that the ability to make money was connected to environmental degeneration . " Now they are talking about permaculture again . Anyway , I am getting too disabled physically to do the work nowadays. Avos grow really good here ... all over the place. As do bananas , but they are now seed bananas ( that some idiot survivalist planted here years back ) and they are coming up everywhere. Got some mango trees but they get spotty. Lychees do well and macadamia nuts love it here. We used to have a web site for the community, part of it listed the native and exotic fruits growing here ... over 50 varieties (but the website got smashed in the 'war' . ) and now, I doubt most could be found in the tangled re-growth and neglect. War does that . There is a local aboriginal story here ; the big fig tree. Down the coast was a giant fig tree. all the people would come once a year and meet and have a feast, a meeting and a celebration ... big corrobaree . One year, one group got there first and started eating the best figs. Then the others turned up "Hey ... you guys ate all the good ones, what gives?" ... then a big fight started ... some people got hurt. Then .... "Right! " a big voice ... a big hand comes out the sky, grabs the tree, pulls it out and takes it up into the sky .... no more fig tree. We should pay attention to those stories. -

Mine came back twice ( 'mine' ... ) and I really smashed the walls where I heard it , so it moved to a new place where there was a gap in the wood ... I stuck a ruler in there and shoved it around and it took off . Hasnt been back ... no killing , and now ... quiet . For now. I too enjoy the little guys, prob here is , it goes from enjoyment to too many, and as I said .... I just dont want em in my bed, and nibbling my ears at night. The best I can do is make an arrangement: " The food in here is locked away, you cant get it. nesting here is too noisy for you. I put food out for you, and make habitats out there. ... .... at times it just comes down to this ..." < draws line in sand >. Oh ... by the way .... dont do the cat elephant thingo .... one of these is sufficient (and they can be quiet friendly to people) -
Not really. Although I have contemplated 'taking responsibility for my own death'. So I am going to offer an opposite take on it A few times I have been very close to death ( I mean personally, I have also been close to others death, been with them when dying and had to care for the bodies of the dead ... some in a pretty smashed up state ) , with my own close calls - even to the point of the police not believing me that I was the driver of that car ... they took me over to it and indicated the roof crushed into the drivers seat, asked how I could have survived that and why did I remove the drivers body and where did I hide it ? I couldnt explain it either, I had a bump on my head and got 3 stitches in my thumb ... if a witness had not seen me crawling out the passenger side ..... ? Several more incidents like that - ' accidental ' ... then a few years back a big health one ... on the way out - for sure this time Even the Doc at the Cancer clinic approved my plan (unofficially) to not go into treatment , and be sick on their horrible drugs and have my life extended by maybe 2 - 5 years .... sick in a gerri ward ... he said "you seem like the type that will go bush and take care of things yourself ?" I accepted that ... I have had a great life and already lived longer than I expected, achieved my life's dream and several more I never knew I had ! I entered a state of tripping ecstasy (without drugs ) ... every blade of grass ,,, every insect ... all of life open up into this amazing ..... 'connection' . But then , a 'remission' of sorts ... maybe an extra 20 years ? ( next thing I know I get a gorgeous 26 year old girlfriend who has 3 kids and I am hurled into a world I never experienced before ) .... great stuff ! So, no depression or resignation whatsoever . But I still plan on killing myself when its time ... why should I have to die according to someone else's concept ? The issue is .... as I found out ... the last minute it could all turn around , What a bummer if I bumped myself off too early ! Also, the issue of leaving things too late, so you cant do it yourself. Thats where friends come in ... real friends ... not emotional cling on attachments. I do have pain ... sometimes bad ... but its just physical... and I cant take painkillers because it will unbalance my liver - [ got Hep C , but have kept tabs on it for 15 years with TCM ,,, which surprises the docs ... "why have you not degenerated?" Me; " TCM ! " ... any pain seems better than a failing liver, I know, I have felt that a bit, and I have nursed people dying from that . Docs: <frowning disapproval > 'But you have not degenerated ' .... Me ; " T CM. " .... Docs: <frowning disapproval > ] Pain very day .... for over 6 months now ( and another 10 to go .... awaiting a hip replacement on free government list) but not enough to end it all. Some days , I cant even put weight on it ... still I can crawl around the garden in dirt and sunshine with a nice view and weed the vegies and stuff , occasionally, on a good day, I can limp around at training and still show the guys a trick or two with the sword (cant grapple though ) I hope anyone who has a depression and suffers pain ... so much that it feels unbearable ... passes through it and manages to experience the pure joy of simply still being alive that I can feel at times .

I am jealous ... I just cannot grow capsicum here . Its not just the soil, I did an experiment in potting mix and a pot , it went well first of all and I thought I was right about soil root nematodes ... it did heaps better than the ones in the garden. But then it got hot, it poured rain, it got humid, the fruit stopped growing and got soggy spots, fell off and -

Missed this. Ummm , yes. I made my own, which was for BD Australia when I worked for them, and if I bought it, that would have been it. It can still be bought there, its still 'theirs' but someone else makes it .... . ... yep ... and some would go <sniff sniff ... or whatever ... 'feel vibe' > "Oh ... this is Fred's 500 and not Greg's ! " (names have been changed to protect the .... ) I tended not to make it here as other places are better ... for a start, its best to use the manure from a cow, in milk, that is a BD cow , eating BD pasture ... and so on. If you have your own BD farm, its a lot easier. Also the right place to bury it ... lots of issues there too . Also storage . So ... 'start with a cow horn' - its a bit more complex than that ... but one has to start the circle somewhere. I think the spin part is important. My first one and a thunderstorm came up, full on lightening .... it was pretty cool. Also I noticed the water 'changed' after stirring a bit. -
That good . The Tai Chi I mean . Keep doing that.

Remedy ? Just out of curiosity, I looked it up; 'Prussian Blue' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thallium#Treatment_and_internal_decontamination ( Despite the fact that it is prepared from cyanide salts, Prussian blue is not toxic because the cyanide groups are tightly bound to iron. Other polymeric cyanometalates are similarly stable with low toxicity )

"I heard they made it banned to sell super-natural/spiritual things on ebay" ? Any way, if you read your own link ( which you never seem to do ) ; "discontinuing a small number of categories within the larger Metaphysical subcategory." It's important to note that items that have a tangible value for the item itself and may also be used in metaphysical rites and practices (ie jewelry, crystals, incense, candles, and books) are allowed in most cases," Hoff wrote." So dolly has some value ... but something like a 'hex' may not ( that is; you send me money and I say I did it for you ... or supply a piece of paper with something written on it. Some old crappy dolls do have a high antique value. Not so on Craigslist ; " The post promises such confidential services as a “Big Booty Spell,” "Mah big booties ? I got em from Craigslist ! Are you sure they are not flat ? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/facts-and-arguments/why-everyone-and-everything-i-see-looks-flat/article14551974/ " ... “How can you drive a car?” The most honest answer is that big things are usually closer to you. If a car looks really big, I’d better hit the brakes. "

If I did, no one would ask why I am riding the donkey backwards . That is like telling the begger not to beg . A man sat begging everyday at the entrance to the market place. People thought he was an idiot as they realized if they offered him a large amount and a small amount of money, he always took the small amount. People would bring their visitors from other villages with them : 'Watch this ... this man is indeed an idiot.' And they would hold up a gold coin in one hand and a dinar in the other. The beggar would take the dinar "Thank you kind sir." And people would laugh " What an idiot, no wonder he is poor." But one day a man of better character approached him, distressed at the peoples mockery; " Yell me, why do you not take the gold coin ... you would have much more money and soon be able to give up begging." " I could," the beggar replied, " But then people would very soon get tired of losing that money and not give me any. After a while I would spend it and have none ... this way, relying on others needs to show off in front of their friends as to how much smarter they are than me ... I am assured of an income, long term, from out of their own pockets."

No way ! You will never approach sageship ... ( sageship ? ) ... like that. Allow me to demonstrate, from my past experience. I awake around 4:30 ( at my bosses house, where I was staying ) , naturally ... bing! - wide awake and refreshed. Do some stuff, have a shower and get ready ... do a few things to get prepared that we will need at work. Boss wakes up, tired grumbling and groaning ... I make him coffee while he is in shower. Eventually we make it to the car, and he tells me to drive. he also ells me which way to go, but I ignore him, choosing my route and avoiding 'unforeseen' problems. This time of day, there is little traffic on the road. During the day, we scream at each other. Sometimes he shoots me ( with a high powered sucker dart handgun one of the Unit guys plays with ) .... once, he yelled at me too much so I got annoyed ... he is yelling to me to help him lift something and saying "Where are you ? Get back to work you bastard! " The Unit Guy is watching and I am on the other side of a besa block wall (with holes cut out of it ) I put the dart hand gun through the wall and the barrel an inch away from my bosses unaware head. The Unit guy is miming ' NOOOO !' and waving his hands 'dont do it'. I look away and .... BLAM! Point blank . Then I ran ..... Unit guy advised me to hide out in his truck and smoke a joints with him for a while. Then I go back to work .... boss is "I'll get you for that, when you least expect it." That is how 'the sage' deals with work .
