Unless they are oyster farmers. he could be right about its significance as a food for farm pastoral cultures, but not hunter gatherers

Its an interesting idea, but his idea seems to fall down , as a cultural anthropologist, as IMO any serious cultural anthropologist CAN NOT form a valid view of the human organism and our cultures from a purely materialistic POV. So his ideas about food taboos are valid for the reasons he gives, but he has left out all the other influences that are not materialistic that contribute - society and culture does not live on 'meat' alone .... there are certain 'psychological necessities'.

People do Which animals depend on which people. I was being brief. And still will be a bit - two versions ; There is all the totemic requirements in some indigenous cultures. If I am a goanna totem, I am not allowed to eat goanna. Also I might forbid others hunting and eating it at certain times if the numbers go low, and I might be responsible for doing the ceremony at the 'Goanna increase site' - all to do with regulating and not abusing the supply. In a culture's overall group mythology a type of animal may have helped somehow or been intricate for the development of that society or an important individual in it. - Eg. " in the Vedic literature, Vishnu takes the form of a boar named Varaha to save the Earth. Also, the story of Freyr’s golden boar in the Norse mythology stresses the innate goodness of pigs/boars in a similar fashion. Pigs/wild boars are not permissible at all for consumption in Zoroastrianism." and " dogs and horses enjoy a number of legal privileges and special rights in the Zoroastrian jurisprudence. Dogs are not at all permissible for consumption and their most kind treatment is enjoined upon every Zoroastrian" http://authenticgathazoroastrianism.org/2012/03/05/zoroastrian-dietary-laws-animal-friendship-and-stewardship/ Also it can be regional eg. 'Crocodilopolis ' - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faiyum

Sure you can eat meat, as long as; it isnt from a sacred animal, isnt treated as a pet, isnt too young or too old, is not noxious or have an averse mythological story association, , isnt violent or viscous and you dont take any other product from it ( like wool or eggs), it isnt bought up in unpleasant or unhealthy conditions ..... and you dont eat it too much or become ravenous for it or too attached to having it. But aside from that , help yourself .

Parts of the scallops A pie floater is the ' cuisine ' of Adelaide - a 'meat' pie upside down in a bowl of pea soup with tomato sauce (ketchup) on top. In Tassie their twist on a pie floater is to use a pie stuffed with scallops . I tried to find a pic but couldnt. When I went to tasmania ( loooong ago) they had these little roadside stalls selling muttonbirds in brine, like the little stalls some country places have by the roadside selling fruit and veg. They were tiny, collapsing, sold evil looking produce and all seemed to be manned by the same guy; beer gut, black hair, dirty and greasy, navy blue singlet and shorts (with the singlet out so it looked like he had no shorts) and gum boots . Either they are all 'related' or that's a 'guild uniform' .

Astrology: Overlaying Four Directions, Zodiac Signs & ... the Tarot?!

( Had a few glitches posting this and lost formatting) In my last post I wrote Absolutely, I am aware that questioning and testing one's beliefs, tracking them to their roots and sources, is indispensible and a very much worth-while endeavor. What I meant to say, though, was very much profane: I cannot address every instance of where this applies within the means of a forum discussion -- simply due to time constraints. .... yeah , I got that, I thought that is what you meant To my understanding the days of the week and the ancient order of the planets seem more or less to correspond in this given progression to the ascending order of the chakras (and the characteristics ascribed to them) in the human body. This would lead me to conclude that the days of the week, when related to distinct planets, point to a weekly cycle, akin, maybe, to a biorhythm of sorts. I understanding this forum is not the right place (if ever there is a "right place") to spell out arcane understandings. If you see fit, however, I would appreciate further comment. As I have stated before, I have for a few months established and refined a personal practice revolving around an understanding where I conceptualize these "seven deadly sins" or "corporeal ghosts" as external forces, much akin to the daemon or jinn concept. What I simply do not grasp so far is why these would correspond to, for instance, days of the week (which seems to be outlined in the writings of, for another instance, Eliphas Levi). Also, if you are willing to comment, can you share your understanding and personal experience of whether these seven governours of the world manifest their influence cyclically or continuously? -- In a similar manner I understand that through simple observation of the skies you would get a sense of distinct directions: The direction where the sun rises, where it reaches its highest point, where it sets... and that darn direction where the sun never goes. Hence, it appeals to me to consider that the East would bear connotations of hope, new beginnings, spring, rising etc., the South of bloom, summer, fullness, sovereignty, etc., the West of ending, harvest, decline etc. IMO its all to do with equating things to 7 ( the 7 'wandering planets' ) and 12 ( and its divisions of 3 and 4 ) and base 10 - the divisions of the human hand. There is more than one 'chakra' system and we could have had a 10 day week - 7 is arbitrary - except for the 7 visible planets , that is what gives the number significance. 12 is 'handy' due to its many simple divisions and the way of counting base 12 (in 'dozens' ). 'Someone' made 7 days to the week, someone equated the 7 celestial lights to 'spirits of God' - bith 7s , so they must relate (they do, though the original model, but to each other, IMO, arbitrarily . What I have been wondering is precisely what Frater UFA had also asked me, whether I seriously believed it: In many instances I have come across writings that say one should invoke (the deities of) the four directions. What does this mean in practice? Can anyone help me toward a better understanding of this? What else is there to this Cube of Space concept? What is a resource or book you can recommend for looking into this? -- Thank you all for your contributions. (repeatedly edited for spelling) Basically the four directions equate to those principles you listed for the diurnal cycle and one affirms or attunes to those qualities (unless you are working night-shift ) . Not much else to the cube of space, IMO, just the 3 principles, unless you want to get into Kabbalah, the source is in the early traditional writings. I am sure these is a scad on the internut internet. It might suddenly develop prime importance ... if you are susceptible to seasickness I am more interested in how the 3 principles manifest in nature themselves without our human projections and divisions put upon them. -

Astrology: Overlaying Four Directions, Zodiac Signs & ... the Tarot?!

The 'four directions' ( relating to N S E W ) seem A system of classification , and they can be a handy system. But IMO/E most natural 'directions', divisions, processes come via three 'directions' - then a 4th exists because of the arrangement of the 3 ... but in a different manner Up-down, back-front, side to side. So much of nature (if not all) seems based on developments of these 3 principles. But, again, they only seem relevant in relation to a subjective or objective 'point' . So really N S E W is a combination of two of the principles extremities. Thats one of the issues, as I see it, the Celestial Sphere has been ( and probably had to be) seen as a flat surface, ( well, a curved , flat surface) the 3rd principle is missing - thats how we get the idea of constellations and asterisms. Again ; https://www.google.com.au/search?q=cube+of+space&espv=2&biw=1213&bih=550&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=diA4Vbn7LsLOmwWfpoD4AQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ [ Eg, a plant requires a correct environment consisting of 3 principles; moisture, temperature, and light ( each defined by the extremities of the field ; wet/dry, hot/cool, dark/light ) , the 4th principle is the growing medium that needs a balanced N P K triangle, the 4th addition to that is micro nutrients, again in the 3 main groups, with a 4th 'attachment' , then there is colour R B Y , but the way they process into the 4 'natural' 'elemental' colours is R B Y G . Its a pattern all though nature - the four forces of physics (and again we see the 4th 'earth' principle as somewhat standing alone - gravity. ] -
No ... what , where , how ? What is an M sign (which is weird , as I was just reading a debate about an M symbol If I was a boss or worker and I got an email to the company about a worker from some guy that met at her at lunch and wanted .... well, wanted what ? You could: go back to the same place for lunch, or go to where she works on business ( an hope to meet or see her - not go there and ask for her , should have got a contact in the first place (I know, that's a useless suggestion at this stage , maybe you will get another chance ) ... I dont know how it works there, but here one is not supposed to give out any non-work related info or contacts to the public, about staff. Its a privacy thing. Otherwise, guys would be hunting women via their work place. Even for other reasons, even 'emergencies' one is told 'Sorry, we cant give out information about our staff." Did you get a reply email from them ? The 2nd thing, you seem determined to drop this drug thing in their laps, no matter what advice people give you, you just create another version of it. Hand up how many women out there want to meet a guy to trip with ? You could start on a simpler more realistic plane, like a normal date. I dunno, it just seems weird to me, why have partner to explore your own internal spaces ... and why your 'dream date woman' instead of a Shaman or guide - no, I dont need an answer, I jam just suggesting a ..... 'topic for meditation'. I would suggest being general and say you have a wide range of interests , including ' exploring consciousness' - I would not take it further than that. That 'covers you', declares your interest and doesnt go too far. You can always get right out there later, if that is what develops. Lets not forget ... you were after a date .... you are not experienced with women relationships and sex, perhaps you should be content, at first, to be a little less ..... ummm .... 'specific' ? Dont start getting so much into the details of what you ultimately would like and project that. If a good relationship follows, the dynamics of that alone may be different enough for you .... I recently had an A M A Z I N G experience like that ... would not trade it for a hand full of pure Swiss 25s ! And would rather have had that experience than a 'mere' trip with her.

Astrology: Overlaying Four Directions, Zodiac Signs & ... the Tarot?!
Nungali replied to EFS White's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
I had been avoiding the questions about 'directions' as I was not sure I understood the premise. I thought it was related to constellations or asterisms. The issue seems to have opened out above. IN the astro calender, that type of astrology postulates 'beings that reside in the constellations' and give their forces to our system. But on analysis, the workings of it are actually base on correlations between the elements ruling the 'sign' and parts of and types of plants. I think the original idea is based on an old concept of focusing on what is rising on the east horizon, giving import to the first house . I won't divert to all that, but just say that the more relevant principles IMO in astrology are to do with combinations of energies that have to do with the angular relationships of the planets ... especially in natal chart. Hence the direction actually now has become a point ... of location .... of the self. Where does the self stand in relation to the 'intersection of the forces'. Any 'elemental' directions seem based on nature and location. Being in the south hemisphere I can say that most have a northern bias ... where is 'up' on sphere in space ? Attributing fire to the south, down here, seems nuts. Even 'Kabbalistic directions' seem based on the directional winds influence for a place on the eastern Mediterranean . There are 'cosmic directions' - cherubs, but they seem based on the elemental energy of a sign as well. I feel 'direction' has more significance in that it is all to do with angular relationships between the 'planets' and us - and the 4 stations of Asc MH Dsc IC around us ( the relationship to our position on the earth, the earth and any other body ... as the Moon does with a lot of fauna. There is an Ancient Egyptian document that lists adorations at these four solar quarters with a different God invoked at each one ... cant remember its title at the moment - it might be in here somewhere ? http://thedaobums.com/topic/37154-egyptian-pyramids-as-maps-of-the-duat/ -

Those that understand nature make the best hunters or farmers . Its all connected. Check out Sonic Bloom technology; it casts a frequency like a rise in insect noise (this occurs in various cycles throughout the day , at certain times) and it causes plant pores to open, they get sprayed, the tone changes, the pores close sealing up the fertilized spray. Sound can cause change in the animals and plants, at the right time. I have an indigenous friend that 'knows the turtle song', he can go to the right place at the right time and sing the right song (and do other 'stuff') and a turtle will rise up and stick its head out of the water and .... nab! For doing complex work, with sidereal constellation astrology I use one of various options in the astodienst site I linked to above. For insights into personal 'psychology' I map the info onto my own system I developed. For agriculture, hunting and husbandry I used this http://www.astro-calendar.com/ (North and South hemisphere versions available check this for a preview and the info available on it http://biodynamics.net.au/wp-content/uploads/1HowToUseAstroCalendar_v1403web.optim_.pdf Just assume they are ... that they are all different way of looking at the same 'elephant' -
Flee it like me ? I have been near it . I have worked in professions that are poretty male female balanced. lived in a Nurses home and 20 years on a Hippy Commune. No need for online dating whatsoever . Although the weird curiosity has got me pondering it at times.

Nah ... sorry, I am way to scared to peek ... scared shitless ... quakin in me boots . Errmmm ... you arent supposed to claim a bongo until after the other person ..... Oh allright ! I will play a along. ME ? ? ? Scared ? ? ? Why you little ..... just you wait till I let go of this mat ! Thats the shot ... always be jovial and make women laugh, if a man is light hearted and happy it feels there is less chance he may go violent and beat her - sorry, - sad but true . Why be on guard in the first place? Be happy, relaxed, warm friendly and exude an air of total but subtle confidence. Pffft ..... dude ! I just merely posted a pic of an Aphrodite altar in you thread, now look what has happened ! I tiod you to get out there and she would show up ! Of course not ! There is always Granny .... Now ... the next part is to somehow initiate the next contact ( which you should have got at that first meeting Without coming off like a stalker or creepy or something. Use what you have learnt to initiate another 'coincidental' meeting. See .... I dont even have to look at your OK profile .... because that isnt gonna get you a date (but what you learn from that process and this one ... from your 'electronic wing men {and woman} ' will translate to helping you when do meet one .
