Discussing Tao with the "science"-minded
Captain Mar-Vell replied to dust's topic in General Discussion
... The true spiritual life can be very uncompromising. It seems to me now it has cost me dear. Yet perhaps many would envy me. I must admit though, I am suprised sometimes to see so many sceptical materialists on a taoist (religious) forum, but that's one of the beauties of taoism. ... -

Captain Mar-Vell replied to Jeff's topic in Hindu Textual Studies
... Yes, thanks for posting that, Jeff, I found it fascinating. I am pretty sure I experienced some sort of "shaktipat." Although I know it was a blessing, nonetheless it hasn't been easy. In fact, so far, its been a bit of a disaster. ... -

... Wouldja buy if I did? Six Point Path to sudden illumination, tried and tested! Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Secret Element Pranayama, Broad Scriptural Study, Secret Element Qi Gong, Secret Element Not-Tantric-At-All. Hell, it might work for you. I doubt it. Maybe I could just hit you on the head with a stick. Frankly, I would prefer that way. It's easier, but even less likely to be effective. More fun for me though! ps above wizard secrets available for a price, negotiations via pm please! pps its a wad ewe luck in ad! ppps kundalini psychosis available at no extra charge! ... -

... Shakespeare This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. Groucho Marx Please accept my resignation. I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member. E Y Harburg I could wile away the hours Conferrin' with the flowers Consultin' with the rain And my head I'd be scratchin' While my thoughts were busy hatchin' If I only had a brain I'd unravel any riddle For any individ'le In trouble or in pain (Dorothy) With the thoughts you'd be thinkin' You could be another Lincoln If you only had a brain (Scarecrow) Oh, I would tell you why The ocean's near the shore I could think of things I never thunk before And then I'd sit and think some more I would not be just a nuffin' My head all full of stuffin' My heart all full of pain I would dance and be merry Life would be a ding-a-derry If I only had a brain ... -
Is new age and spiritual stuff irrelevant to the tao cultivator?
Captain Mar-Vell replied to woodcarver's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
... Love and light! Let's all dance the fairy dance of universal cosmic oneness and harmony! Come, my nymphs! Slightly more serious answer, it depends how rigid your definition of "tao cultivator" is. I don't suppose I am a "cultivator," really. Perhaps I am. But I am a wooly new ager with no sincerity and less integrity. One of the elements of "new age" being ecumenism and a tolerance and indeed favour for comparative thinking in spiritual matters, means that I personally find all manner of materials of interest. Namaste! ps what this thread needs is more... ponies! pps yes I am an illuminati agent sent to disrupt. ppps is there a living to be had in running a new age store? I'd be lucky to get a job sweeping the floor. Still, I'm good at that. ... -
... I often think the dangers of meditation are overstated, although no doubt coming from me, that is ironic. I suppose we would have to discuss what is meant by meditation. ...

... I do keep hopping in. Update: I've been discharged to my goddawful bedsit since Thursday. It ain't too bad. At least I aint starvin' (but I like to fast a little sometimes). Nor am I livin' in a war zone. Although it sounds like it sometimes, ie 6pm to 6.am ha ha. The water's pretty ropey too I think they tryin' ta poison me like they did the Bhagwan Rajneesh! Better work on my virtue defense, and my Ironguts meditations. And I might be attacked by Poison Ivy too, one day! If only. Ha ha! I like a redhead. ...

An' only Catwoman ever turned up! I was hopin' fer Harley! And the catty one wouldn't even give me a date, but she did bathe with me in the soft grass, feeling the warm sun on our bodies, listenin' ta James Taylor. Ya know, all in all, Tommy's Holiday Camp (aka the Ladywell Unit at the Lewisham University Hospital, South London) ain't such a bad place.
