Your approach sounds incredibly unhealthy. I'd recommend finding a teacher who can do whatever it is you're trying to do, and train under them. edit: meant to say únhealthy''

Problems in the Visualization of the Microcosmic Orbit
Aeran replied to Fer's topic in General Discussion
I would recommend the works of Robert Bruce if you want a better understanding of how to feel and move energy, especially his N.E.W. (New Energy Ways), which can be found online as a PDF. -
Terry, any chance you could take a look at that PM I sent you? Really keen to resume practicing FP but I don't feel comfortable about doing it without some input on those effects I was getting - any thoughts would be massively appreciated.

I've seen various western sources (Bardon being one of them - which is particularly interesting given the strong eastern element to his practices)) describe states where the physical body becomes effectively 'dead' (breath slows to the point of almost ceasing entirely, it becomes cold, stiff, etc) as a result of the almost complete detachment of the mental and astral bodies (either for the purpose of travel, or to reach meditative states which can't be achieved while still within the physical body). Perhaps what is being described in the OP is something similar?

I'm at the point where I have absolutely no clue what's going on with the TG/MPG drama now. Can someone put together cliff notes or something?

Is that the secret of the More Pie school of nei kung, you spend hours and hours on internet forums talking out of your ass until you cultivate the ability to produce lightning bolts from said ass? -

So in other words, you have absolutely no experience with which you can back up your claim. -

How many systems of Nei Kung have you actually practiced (properly, under the direct guidance of a competent teacher)? -
I picked up this book on kindle by impulse - http://www.amazon.com/Suddenly-Psychic-Skeptics-Maureen-Caudill-ebook/dp/B00E13RIAM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394574411&sr=8-1&keywords=suddenly+psychic Particularly relevant to this thread is a chapter in which she describes her kundalini experience, including constant electrical failure around her and at least one case of spontaneous PK. Not sure how seriously to take it, since she also makes some other pretty wild claims, but interesting anyway.

Except a ton of what he posts isn't even remotely factual, and he constantly and repeatedly shoves these "facts" down peoples throats while those people are trying to have a perfectly reasonable conversation about some entire other subject - then when they get pissed off, he tries to pretend it's their fault by saying that if they want to argue with him, they should do it in his Challenge thread instead of diverting other threads after he's already diverted the thread by using it as a platform to perpetuate his 'Mo Pai is the only Pai everything else is spiritual roleplay' dogma. -

Most accounts I've read have been more along the lines of side effects of expanded consciousness (telepathy, remote viewing and precognition, etc) than 'power' in the sense that most people here use it (farting lightning bolts, setting things on fire, moving objects etc).

Scientists: The woman who 'can leave her body at will': Student sheds light on the strange brain activity involved in out-of-body experiences
Aeran replied to SonOfTheGods's topic in General Discussion
http://www.amazon.com/My-Big-TOE-Complete-Trilogy/dp/0972509461 Talks about the scientific investigation of OBE's at length. I'm fairly sure Dean Radin touches on it in his work somewhere, but I can't remember where exactly. -

Wait, I'm confused - am I missing the sarcasm, or are people on a forum about cultivating vital energy attempting to 'debunk' OBE's? -
What Are "Legitimate" Qi Abilities/Power?
Aeran replied to SonOfTheGods's topic in General Discussion
Exactly - I think it's absurd to prop him up on a pedestal against his will and then to hold him to an absurd standard when he doesn't react well, while all the time the poor guy just wants to be left alone to meditate. Could he have reacted better? Maybe, but I don't think he'd be doing these people any favors by allowing them to turn him into an idol. And of course if he did, people would attack him saying he's a cult leader, etc etc. -
Very interesting - do you have any suggestions for further reading on the subject?

I'm just going to point out that, scientifically speaking, you can't prove anything for 'medical qigong,' as a whole, only for specific practitioners. -
Relax, I'm just messing with you Are we talking Cacti carved with sigils? Or possibly possessed by some goetic spirit? You're right though.
-
But do those methods have any youtube videos of newspaper being set on fire? I mean that's the really important question....
-
Doesn't that logic apply to everything else then? If any spiritual/energetic practice which doesn't work towards immortality is useless, roleplay etc. then surely any other activity which doesn't work towards the same goal is also useless, roleplay etc.

But that's my whole point, it isn't make believe - the gap between poverty and middle class, while tiny compared to the gap between poverty and billionairehood, is still very, very real, especially to the people trying to crawl their way out of poverty. The man in that Magus of Java quote for example - his abilities weren't much compared to Chang, but he still did some pretty crazy stuff, especially compared to people who don't cultivate at all. He certainly wasn't 'roleplaying.'

That depends on whether they speak about it as a replacement for the real thing or speak about it to motivate themselves to keep working towards the real thing.
