This is convenient, no? 1. Can't ask age, so can't discover if they're immortal, or lying [why can't you ask one's age? It's a very benign question unless you have something to hide). 2. If you wanted to hire someone, but could not ask which university they studied, because that would be 'bad manners', then this would be stupid, right? 3. haha, why? So the Daoists can continue playing their ridiculous games of hide and seek? Daoism is the blind, leading the blind. If you got to say something, then speak. Otherwise, don't speak. I have no idea why Daoists love to manipulate others and catch them in their little traps and childish games. It's much better to study alone.

Why should she teach us, if she hasn't cultivated Neidan herself (I assume)? Some people are obsessed with finding a teacher. I personally don't believe in the master-student pretentious bullshit. I'm a human being, you're a human being, let's chat.

Didn't everyone, then and now (including the Indians), believe that the Aryans originated from the Caucasus mountains? They began to expand around the Amu Darya and then invaded Iran, India and Western China from there. In fact, the nordics don't even have the R1 (Indo-European/Aryan) genotype that is common in nations descended from the 'Aryans'. What sources?

Can anyone suggest some ancient resources on human physiology/biology and medicine?
Ryan94 posted a topic in General Discussion
I want to know how exactly did the ancients (especially the Daoists and similar Eastern groups) view the human body in its physical form, as well as it's soul and spirit. I would like to know what they thought disease was, and how they would treat various kinds of infections and trauma, and WHY. Like a study course in Traditional Chinese Medicine. But I have a suspicion that TCM today is corrupt/diluted. works/books before the 19th century are very welcome, especially if they have an English translation. The older the better in my opinion (books before the Tang Dynasty or even the Han dynasty would be amazing). Thanks for your time -
I'm often in a state where i've got lots of Qi in my body, or too much Qi in the wrong place. For example, when I feel angry I feel a release of Qi within me which makes me really want to hit something, rather than keep it for something more practical. After this, I feel drained of energy. Another instance is when i'm sexually aroused but I don't have a partner to have sex with. So i waste my jing/qi through masturbation, rather than keeping the energy and directing it to my Dan Tian. When i'm in that kind of state of mind, instead of surrendering to it, how can I control that volatile energy and direct it to my Dan Tian? Thank you P.S. I'd rather not encourage sexual arousal in order to complete the microcosmic orbit (as described by Mantak Chia), because it is advised to beginners of Qigong to abstain from all sexual activity for 100 days (which I haven't even started). I also used to be dependent on pornography, so I don't want to begin masturbating again. P.P.S. I'm in my early 20's.

How do I take back control of qi and direct it to the Dan Tian, whenever it's suitable?
Ryan94 replied to Ryan94's topic in General Discussion
Well, what else does it do? I can even feel it moving when I try to direct it around my microcosmic orbit. -

Interesting, but does this allow Qi to flow to the lower Dan Tian? It feels like its making the body as tense as possible to forcefully resist whatever Qi may be in the body, rather than keeping the body flexible and loose to allow Qi to freely flow through you. -
Why should I have a teacher? Or follow anyone's advice here at all?
Ryan94 posted a topic in Daoist Discussion
I don't see any real taoists here. Just massive liars, idiots or deluded fools under placebos. Neither do i see any real taoists amongst the gamdmasters or teachers of taoism. By 'real taoists' i mean people who follow only the teachings of Lao zi and Zhuang zi and don't follow the ridiculous superstitions of chinese folk religion of the fantasy fairytales from buddhism/hinduism/christianity. Since no one has yet reached enlightenment/immortality/maximum cultivation/whatever the goal of Taoism is, there is no need to be taught from anyone about something which no-one at present day has obtained. It's like a blind boy asking his blind father to describe the colour 'blue'. He cannot possibly know, and even if he did know, there's no-way he can describe it in a way his son will understand the answer or interpret the real meaning. -
? I was agreeing with him. Yes, you can never say that no-one reads your posts. I read it it, and it was very interesting. Looks like no-one reads mine though

Yeah, i thought you didn't know. Taoists say all sorts of shit to sound wise, but no-one has the balls to call them out on it. -
Yes he can.

Why should I have a teacher? Or follow anyone's advice here at all?
Ryan94 replied to Ryan94's topic in Daoist Discussion
Totally irrelevant. I was aware of this teaching, and its significance, but I don't like how you tried to dodge my original question. How can I learn both everything, and nothing? Explain, please. I expect you will have an answer, as Taoists seem to always want both ways, to always have their cake, and eat it, -

So, how am I meant to learn everything, and nothing? Or am I not meant to notice that the emperor's not wearing any clothes? And if I don't discriminate, how will I judge whether it's bullshit or not? I can't test out every taoist theory, as life is short, and the bullshit in modern Taoism is plentiful. -
Thanks effilang, I'm glad to receive such a good answer. I was starting to have bad opinions about Taoism and it's followers, considering by the amount of misinformation, and disinformation spread around the place, especially by those who call themselves a 'grandmaster'. I'll be looking out for your posts a lot more.

So what would you say to R. Hubbard, and his followers? Would you say tell them 'everything's fine', and keep doing what makes them feel happy (even though they've been brainwashed to think so). What about the women of saudi arabia? Tell them everything's fine, and to have a nice day walking back home in black? Because then, you are far less of a saint than you think you are. An absence of tolerance doesn't equal intolerance. Intolerance is never the answer in my opinion. But the ridiculous levels of 'tolerance' on this forum shows with the amount of Jesus quotes sacrileging the place. And with your talk about tolerance, it doesn't sound like your very tolerant of taoists with another point of view, by that irrelevant comment you made, bashing tao in nature. I'll check that place out.

Can someone kindly point me to a real taoist forum then? Thanks

Just seen it. Boring.

http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r319/laoist/richardsage.jpg I don't understand the image. Is it meant to be funny?

So why is it a taoist forum? Why not call it something different, as clearly it's for people who think they can become superman from yoga, or people who can't make up their minds and are still in love with jesus. You guys mock Li hongzhi and scientology, but i see no difference here.

Also, the link to the book returns as a 404. Where can i find the book described in the OP?

This (and what most of this forum talk about) seems to be some weird mixture of New Age, occult and folk superstition. Demonic spirits?! Really? I thought people in the 21st century would be smarter than this. Laozi's teachings were more about common sense than chinese superstition. I honestly won't be surprised if you lot start talking about UFO's and aliens next. Everything else has been covered. P.S. Jesus can go fuck himself. Why are so many people quoting him? This is a taoist forum. (From the quote a few pages back, i wonder why he only wants 'little children' in heaven, LOL

Has anyone read/heard of: Siji Tzu - Chronicles
Ryan94 replied to DalTheJigsaw123's topic in General Discussion
Bump. Who IS this guy?! -
I've tried reading Mantak Chia's books on this topic, but I'm still unsure on what to do. Many non-taoist and taoist guides on the internet do not give a full explanation on how to do it, or are too vague. I hope someone here can give me a concise and easy-to-understand guide on how to convert unused and stagnant sexual energy in the groin/prostate into energy that can be used for mental or physical tasks. Thank you for your time p.s. I have only read a couple of Taoism related books, so i probaby won't understand a lot of Taoist jargon. Please use simple english if you can.

Is there a taoist technique for sexual transmutation?
Ryan94 replied to Ryan94's topic in General Discussion
4bsolute, I think Mantak Chia explains most of the things in his book very well, apart from Sexual transmutation. He does the same thing as Napoleon Hill in his book 'Think and grow rich'. He says all the benefits and reasons to do it, but doesn't give clear directions on the process of achieving sexual transmutation. Could you expand what you mean by getting back to the source through meditation please?
