I remember standing in front of a Buddha statue, It was a huge golden Statue in a glass case (in a room previously set up to host playboy style parties, lovely old building in York U.K.) At that moment I’m wanting to take things to the next level in my commitment, but then one problem arisen in my mind. “pacifism”, can I not use my Martial arts now, should I be 100% none violent? I realised this is not for me. I would rather take the downfall and defend myself. I’m no good to my family if I’d dead, that’s what I thought. I shrugged my shoulders at the Buddha and turned my back on that level of pacifism. The None Violent rule becomes force only if someone directly threatens my life or families life. Other than that I’m cool and peaceful. I think that applies to most cool and peaceful people. Sadly people try to take advantage of this. And would still rather rape pillage plunder and control others … Buddhists and ‘others’ fall fall prey to this if too gently and peaceful. Better for society though if peace is a rule and violence is outlawed over almost any circumstance. Children exposures to watch and violence simply pass it on generation to generation otherwise. At some point to be civilised we had to decide/cut off from the old ways… but some are opposed to life and think murder is fine under many circumstance. Then we are back again to the immovable object meeting an unstoppable force, and none violence becomes force once more. Struth And another star is born. How are stars born exactly anyway?…

From Dust to Dust, just like the stars aren’t we. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. And Religion as an institution like String theory was a total con job. I blame the monetary system. It will all come out in the wash though. Like P Diddies Baby Oil.

Cool. There are so many directions we could go with this now… God, it’s hard to decide where to dip in. Fantastic… thanks for chiming in @Apech I’m hoping I don’t goof off too much here with this one and get the message across to some degree. Its such a personal thing isn’t it? Understanding within a conversation , within disseminating philosophy, and within simple Faith… They all so different when opinions clash at least. Personal and so many differences… interpretations.. Its tricky. I purposely kept away from Worship, personally I thought for years it was too much of a dumbing down of what I already knew about, and the Jesus thing could just be a big trick an big hoax and foolish to make an argument for. Faith and Worship smacked me in the face and was Surprising (maybe at some time I’ll share some story) There was a simplicity I think that has to be there for worship, it didn’t know it could be so simple, until it was. To throw a person into the mix for worship ie Jesus, the mechanism that makes it possible (is almost beyond simplistic) it’s strange and a real abstraction of life and death . In a moment of change [hard to put in words in conversation, with somebody who’s not shared the experience]. I couldn’t imagine there being Worship as such for me in Buddhism or Taoism. I could have respect for teachers and teachings but couldn’t imagine a level of actual whole hearted worship with ancestors or deities [not to say I’d disrespect people that did though]. Re Christianity… imo Jesus symbolises such a cutting off from the old and the beginning of the new , for me and so many others that took the leap of faith,, I think it’s hard for others to see… And people that try and talk about it run into problems fast with educated folk. A little like what you are saying with the Kabbalah , basically “you only know what you know…” Anyways,, it’s highly personal, but obvious to me how this leap of Faith worked now as it has become a living experience, still if I had to put it into words it would be like this. (Act 1) if you watch a movie, a rich story rich plot line, lots of Color , humour , the real depth and shade of human character that just gets you lost in the moment, aspects of romance, adventure, danger excitement, all the elements you want from a movie. Think old vhs, it even has a warmth and a glow to it. A grain, a quality that is imprinted on the elements of the black plastic laced with metals. Now we as a lover of movies could play it in a vcr or a different vcr. The picture quality would differ, the sound quality would differ. It’s all the same but somehow different. Either way our senses are lost in the experience of the story… Trying to explain Jesus for me in words is a bit like this… (Act 2) imagine opening the tape and snipping the physical tape. Then glueing back together. That’s basically the process I think many believer go through when they realise Christ and kind of experience that for themselves… Imagine you watch the movie , the sound and picture quality is fine uninterrupted. But then you blink. in that split second something happened. (Let’s just say , [take a leap of faith with me for for a minute], it was Jesus Life and death) What actually happened to the tape in reality though is it was physically cut. The tape ended. And it was stuck together to a fresh piece of tape. it’s that cut in the tape, you’d never even notice it (or…) . Can’t really explain it. Everything seems the same, but after that cut, it’s a totally different tape. you wouldn’t notice while watching the film, well maybe just a flicker.but In actuality the film went off and came back on. I think trying to explain Jesus is about as difficult as trying to explain the sliced edge of that piece of tape that’s attached to the new tape as a reality effectual in the film/movie… You'll know what I mean if you ever fixed a vhs tape with a bit of sellotape. (There are various ways to do it and it all pretty much leads to the same result, some are fuzzier than others, some glitch a bit or worse, but typically the same outcome, unless the machine really chews it up) Its really inconsequential while watching the film (fingers crossed). But it’s an interesting process that you’d never even guess was possible, (splicing the tape, euw sounds painful when I put it like that) … ————————————- A Buddhist, philosopher , scientist etc having a conversation with someone about faith and the worship from their angle would be like discussing (act 1) the movie itself, Color’s sounds plots and sub plots and all its bells and whistles.. the worship bit to me though is (act 2) looking at the cassette, cutting it, sticking back together, essentially “dying with Christ…” (it’s still all about the film, whilst being nothing really to do with the film, same word different meanings) they are two completely separate things to me. Film/Film , And as such, difficult to merge together in conversation with someone who hasn’t had this duel experience in life of philosophy/faith-worship. I think becoming aware of Christ, in the mystical sense (was for me anyway) was a bit like going through that process of being spliced onto a new piece of tape. but that’s got nothing to do with the Movie in the literal sense, the Movie that’s all front of house… it’s all on the back end… at the very source of its existence, the tape itself. I hope that made at least some sense… I guess some people would say, “ so what “ we have that choice in every living second to focus on whatever we like and have faith in anything, or not. (Fair enough too perhaps, each to their own) Speaking to the Buddhist directly, I think the only practical bridge i’d try to build is by Asserting that “Jesus Christ has probably led more people to Buddhist outcomes in their lives (loving kindness, forgiveness, saying sorry and pacifism for example) that anybody else on the planet.” At least In recent history, say last 7-10, 000 years or so. Maybe the Hawaiians with their Hoponopono (I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me - mantra) but I don’t think it spread quite like Christianity did… In closing, philosophical systems and sophisticated approaches to understanding - compared to faith-worship are as worlds apart as The making, enjoyment and conversating about an enthralling movie and the act and experience of splicing a tape. i’m not saying the Buddhists/Taoists aren’t better at all of this than all the Christian’s combined . perhaps they can be the tape, or perhaps there is no tape at all. and no such thing as better or worse that I’m sure the money duellists would argue (probably from a comfy settee in a civilised and safe community setting ) I don’t know if what I just said makes things more simple or more complicated. Thoughts? Truth,,, or Terminological-Inexactitude?

They helped didn’t they? they helped make him more famous more quickly, the rabbis refuting his teachings and having no inclination to accept him as the messiah. [what is understandable but so strangely ironic given the outcome] Then when it was suggested Jesus should be released by Pilate , or would they prefer Barrabas to be released. The Jewish mob preferred Barrabas. That was a pretty serious nail in the coffin. That would have been doing something very interesting in the hearts of those Jewish people at the time I venture to bet. I can’t imagine how people would have felt amidst all of this. Also I’d say they continue to kill Jesus by way of defamation in their scriptures and teachings about him. It’s understandable, I get it. Jesus teachings were so radically different from the Jews he came from. If we ourselves lived in Egypt, India Tibet soaking up their teachings like a brilliant sponge from such an early age, already blessed with a brilliant mind. There were probably people trying to take him out (assassinate him) even on the way back imho, particularly around the time he visited the Zoroastrians. I’m sure he would have rubbed quite a few leaders and teachers up the wrong way over the years, maybe it was all peaceful for him though. Who knows for sure. I dig the history though and the reality they had to face on the shores of oncoming invaders (lot of catholics too from what I hear) It’s a great passion to think of the men and boys training near the shores, warming up as boats sailed towards them. I got tied up with zip ties too tightly then for around 8 hours and jousted but three people. I wouldn’t have guessed it would be so painful , way worse than broken bones. My thumb felt like it would explode for the entire time… but I’m glad it wasn’t chopped off even though it would perhaps be less painful. I think I’d have preferred broken bones (pain wise) but I’ve not had digits chopped of so I can’t say. Probably definitely not as bad as that. Literally that level thank god didn’t happen. I didn’t know being tied up wrong could result in that kind of physical pain. Mentally it was tough to take for that long but I guess it could have been worse. My thumb was totally numb for three months. It was incredibly interesting answering to your points earlier though. I sincerely hope we can get into it further now I know a little more about your Esoteric background. Perhaps we can get into the nuts and bolts of it… If you dare…

Very interesting I agree with you. Now this system of approach would be a competing faction for me, as a sensible alternative to Christianity. As the system existed so long perhaps it could have done well, but would it have been able to scale up and upsurp the savagery of the time without being eliminated by it? It sounds like they were lucky to have got away with continuing practices when the Muslims arrived... By the looks of things we could have been very well developed and mature as a people had we continued in this way, and had the rest of the world been ready for these sacred attitudes and approaches, to have been assimilated into normal life. I personally believe this to have been way beyond the maturity of the people at the time, almost anywhere on the planet, esp when we are talking about the spread of Christianity (those places) Moon and cycles is one thing. The communications and literature that springs from such alignments becomes another story though. (as we are about to get into) One that is fitting for the masses? Perhaps Egypt historically could have handled it, from what I understand though this type of information was protected and guarded in secrecy and was an entirely different way of life incompatible for most of the regular folk. It was protected by , Priest scribes and initiates... and Pharoahs. They were lucky... Makes sense hmmm, I find this part haphazard irresponsible and dangerous. Personally. Knowledge is Power, but that is neutral, put Knowledge to use and it is true power. Books that were not going to fit, the Apocrypha, Enoch, Gospal of Thomas were not included. My younger self hated this, as an adult though I understand why this was done. Is it safe to say that it was more a Freemason project to spread the church, and an evolution of the "fallen" Roman Empire? Is it safe to say that in fact The Esoteric Knowledge of old (and insane building knowledge) was being used to guide the next phases for its own good, eg Conquering America, yes with Jesus as the Mascot. Doesn't get much more ironic from my viewpoint. The Jews could have just saved Jesus and insisted he be released, forced him into recovery and he never would have been known. The Trinity as an operational formula for the heart... I know the Trinity started as a Human Idea and has largely been promoted in a Gospal as a Transliteration Addage that was falsely added to the Bible by Erasmus (people invented a greek version of the passge that didnt exist and tricked him into translating it to Latin that later became standard in King James, its since been taken out in newer editions). None the less the Trinity to me is a concentration formula and as such makes perfect sense (to me) if interested in my view on it, rewind the post. I wrote about it here earlier on... I'm totally down with this. I think if Good can finally take a hold in the world and finally Check Mate the insidious plan of the super Elite that always seem to have had an answer to everything, I believe we stand a chance of developing and supplanting these ancient technologies (and various understandings and applications of vibration and frequency) that were hidden from us.. [I think Jesus had a firm grip of this understanding of vibration and frequency, hence the resurrection, physical, astral, or both] Remember not only the wheel is moving on the edges, along the ground it is travelling, but the earth is hurtling through space at an astonishing speed due to its rotation, its orbit around the Sun, and its movement as larger solar system through the galaxy, hell maybe even the whole universe is shaking, yet there is still stillness in all that movement... LONG LIVE TAOISM!!! Faith is a rare undertaking, perhaps just as rare even as the bullet wizzing past Trumps head , perhaps we as humanity have found a powerful in the stillness and truth of our being, and are in the rare position where our collective consciousness is at a tipping point and is no longer trapped in the hypnotic grid set out by the world powers/media for so long,, and the modern bs wars that kept resetting us before we could get back to the... TRUTH ... The prince of peace could lead us to that, as simplistic as it all may seem as a magician, it is a supreme formula for humans to live together... treat others as you wish to be treated. Jesuses few simple kernals are absolute mustard. (please feel free to contest them) I'd need a shot of heroin before I downloaded that It's wonderful stuff I'm sure but a bit too potent for me. There were loads of questions within the question. It was a great premise to start the post, that's why I got so invested in it tbh. doubt I'll do it again but it will be here for posterity. I'd like to get into it more deeply, and I'd love some people to contest or elaborate on some of my points. There is a lot to open up. I love the Tribe angle... I think a great question would be, what would have happened without Christianity. Its very interesting as Islam was basically an answer to how to wipe it out and, kinda came from the same root,, but what would have happened if it hadn't. I wonder which tribes would have grown and spread and which would have been wiped out by others. I think the Vikings might have existed for much longer, maybe maybe not, its very interesting to ponder these things. The Slavs as well may have made it further into Europe and perhaps effected our language root... There is a theory that proto slav was actually left over from an earlier time, when slavic langiage basically dominated in terms of language, much like English Dominates the world stage now... And that some how it retracted to a smaller region, and as a seed with the culmination of its former maturity, then spread out again... Kinda like English has evolved to this point, if the world shut down and had to restart with English again spreading out, its a similar theory that it happened to the Slavic tongue, We cant say for sure though as there is no surviving writing in Slav from far enough back to trace it well. Athough there are supposed to be many parallels with Pali. Back to the question, Dogma, I got caught up on that when I visited the Buddhists for a while I thought they were totally against what they were writing about because they had statues everywhere. It was my faulty thinking though that was out of alignment with the truth of it and I was really disrespectful, luckily I kept that thought to myself till it evolved to a respect. I bashed church dogma for years as well. But like all things, if you throw the baby out with the bathwater. You don't have the baby, or the bath water. Please list the Christian Dogma you think is BS, it's a good possible path to continue on, should you have the time... It's fair that you get into it. I've not integrated all the ideas of church into my understanding and practice. Maybe some of it doesn't stand up to scrutiny, lets scrutinize it... This is the thread to do so For me Jesus is the perfect realization of a Buddhism and Taoism in operation in a cruel cruel world. He was no doubt inspired my these great traditions on his travels, along with others and decided to lay down his life in an incredible way. All the other stuff that people have done in his name is superfluous to the truth for me. It seems obvious but we all have different lenses we view this situation through... I personally think if you look at the church, you're likely to miss the point of Jesus, who existed before the first Christian church... but go on then. Dogma, if you're game I am.

It was the opposite for me. I looked after disabled folk for two years as a live in carer. I trained as a holistic therapist but it all seemed like bs to be taking money for treatments, the people that had money didn't really seem to need it genuinely, maybe to a degree, worked at a HIV clinic for a bit giving treatments but their minds always seemed to be on other things and didn't really seem to be into the free treatments (funny how that works),, so I travelled instead of setting up a practice,, When I came back I got into live in care work... It certainly didnt make me feel good or shot of dopamine, not really. It just made me feel so humble to have had a life, able bodied and connections with people that most wheelchair bound dont get to experience. It made be feel really bloody lucky, and sad for a while of course. I think it should be a national service and young people should have a choice of ways to go. Maybe still army (i'd prefer not but it does exist and is good for discipline and comradery) I think planting trees, or helping the sick/elderly should be unpaid national service too. for like 16-20 yr olds or so. they should have to do at least a year imho. I've thought that for a long time. Its complicated isn't it though care work (but service just takes care of itself, its such a healthy way to work imo). Wow that's not bad for Wiki that, what a meaty read. Wish I could go without showers, training twice a day though and ending up dripping with sweat its not really possible. For years I went without deodorant and aftershaves though, sweat is way better for the hormonal system than parabens.. Great wiki article that thanks...

I hope I'm not annoying all you guys by commenting on this thread and trying to develop it answering best I can. You'll notice I keep the Christianity stuff purely in the thread named Christianity... Is this bit from the old Testament? I think its all nonsense to be honest in that and totally out of date. I agree with you there.. It's quite ridiculous to think God gave us everything to rule over, quite sad... Its not Christianity though really the old testament is it? I don't even think the new testament should be bundled in with it. The Jews basically killed Jesus didn't they. Doesn't get much more sad and ironic than that. If you don't mind though guys, can we return to the original question of the thread for inspiration to the posts, otherwise it just kind of trails off into banter. Feel free to disagree I wont get offended but I do feel I have a valid point here... Christianity, the good the bad and the ugly sure, but still trying to answer the question posed? What you reckon?
