  1. Why be afraid of anything at all

Yeah to a certain extent but out and about the more places you go and people you see, the more chance this has of backfiring and you can end up in situations over your head. I went through a back breakup and went through a time of not fearing anything, but after a while it was like I was challenging death itself to come knocking. it was an interesting time donā€™t get me wrong, but I think I could have easily been sniffed out if Iā€™d have carried on that trajectory of fearless action and adventure. but who knows, as irony has it and perhaps the powers of evolution itself, I ended up with my first child on the way shortly after this outlandish period. After that it changed. I think fear as a parent is sensible and helps keep you kids out of danger. I know again Iā€™m posting about the kids, but if not for them whatā€™s any of it for anyway? j could be more fearless in some areas though, like business for sure, but Iā€™m kinda content with a more simple lifestyle with moderate pay. As ling as there is money to eat and time to practice, Iā€™m good. Conquering fear in terms of walking around in general any time any where is good though. I suggest WingChun
  2. Why bother with morality and ethics?

  3. Why bother with morality and ethics?

Totally agree, and depending on the precept being broken, it may determine the extent of the downfall. I remember reading ā€˜donā€™t sell intoxicantsā€™ as being one recommendation in Tibetan Buddhism. So I wonā€™t provide drugs or alcohol to others. This seems sensible. And In doing to others as you want done. Trying to avoid gossip and backbiting is best and arguing face to face tooā€¦ it can help correct so many problems that we are conditioned with, having a better conduct. So if Morality covers, good manners, being calm and kind and not leading others into chaotic circumstances that may badly hurt them, or others. Yeah I think morality is important. Also if you got kids and you donā€™t want the spitting, swearing and smoking at ten itā€™s probably best to be more of a square. like attracts like birds of a feather flock together andā€¦ monkey see monkey do
  4. I love the way in the Geshe Kelsangā€™s New Kadampa Centre song recording, how they say the lyric ā€œEverything Becomes Emptinessā€ Iā€™ll never forget that line.

    Lovely natural grounding, Thankyou

Makes sense doesnā€™t it, how awesome šŸ˜Ž
  7. Seeing, The somatic , the senses, actively being aware. Am I seeing or are things being seen, is my awareness outside or am I able to keep it more inside. What do I see, how do I Judge? Recognising watching, being, finding more space for action instead of reactions, Being more mindful, more meditative, maybe being able to make time for formal meditation again. Break some old habits, make some new habits. Become more conscientious & Maintaining Having daily practice, expanding time and intensity in practice slowly, reducing or eliminating sugar and booze completely, reducing gossip and idle talk, fostering more silence and internal ease. Listening to intuition and letting goā€¦ fine tune instead of breaking in with quick ego driven action One's Enlightening Potential II: Open Tradition Edition my personal potential is set byā€¦; morning tendon Changing practice, a little Tai Chi afterwards. (its getting colder now) Weight training in evening , quite heavy, push, pull, legs splitā€¦ 8 or so reps a set. 3-4 sets of each compound lift with nice slow negatives and some rest pause sets. Can you give us some examples of your techniques or ways?
  9. Idol worship misunderstood...

mmm yes I resonate with this. I once went for a mass in a church that was very old, but it was unconsecrated , on private grounds which I think had pagan significance in the past (maybe) Anyway ordained priests held a Catholic mass in there and all the congregation people that went for the mass seemed to be fine. Me on the other hand, I experienced a deeply sickly emotion and a great presence that came to the back of the church. It was a bolt out of the blue and caught me off guard, Iā€™ve never had that experience at the mass. It was akin to the kind of feeling of an overwhelming paranoia that may result from over doing things on a weekend of partying in my teensā€¦ I'm not Baptized and feel I may have had this experience as I was, the odd one out. I held it together and left. The day was quite a normal day apart from that and I donā€™t tend to have experiences like this as an adult. It caught me by surprised and was powerful and troublingā€¦ at the time. I wonder have any of you had experiences like this? With unconsecrated items or settings particularly? And maybe what are your thoughts on what this might have been down to?
  10. Idol worship misunderstood...

It should always be a choice shouldnā€™t it. Itā€™s personal how people relate to each Deity and should be respected Iā€™d say. Do you think it is important for these Idols to always be consecrated before being used? Would they be dangerous potentially, Or would you say they would simply not hold the same power?
  11. Does all spiritual traditions point towards the same truth?

So cool, your entire post. Nice that you took the time to share that. You finish in a great place. Whatever we think we know, we are probably best to ā€˜return to the uncarved blockā€™ thatā€™s how I try to keep it. And watch out for the impulses of the forever elusive wu-wei to guide the moment. Stars are so humbling too arenā€™t they. When I look up I ponder this. How we come from stars and will eventually return to them is phenomenal, what journey life is , even in 3D time and space. I love itā€¦ Neirong, Iā€™m be real interested to know what roll you think virtue plays in all this when it comes to spiritual paths, cultivation and development. It seems in Taoism De or Virtue is pretty engrained in the earliest writings as being a vital component. Whatā€™s your take?
  12. Does all spiritual traditions point towards the same truth?

Sounds like bliss. Is ultimate truth Metta/Love? How does it feel ultimate truth. Do we get to feel it if we get to reach it??
  13. Christianity

Fair comment. I was taken in quite a few directions of different versions of Christianity, when I learned the word "catholic" has the root meaning "built on Jesus" I decided to put away my dubiousness. It seems Peter was nominated as the first pope and since then they have continued to come and go haven't they, it makes sense for someone to be in charge to make decisions. It keeps the life in it (if you ask me) Not for everyone I know. If I lived in India is probably be quite different. Here in Poland 72% are Roman Catholic so there is a lot to align with... For me it's as much a collective qigong as anything else. Going to church is akin to doing Tai Chi in the park each morning if I were back in Taiwan. Community getting together, connecting. A big part of it really isn't it ā¤
  14. Christianity

I hear what you say , I'm not convinced though about it being only Christian and I'll tell you why from my perspective. I've always shyed away from religeon, mainly because of the worship aspect. Doing Qigong and working with energies I didn't think it was needed and thought it would only cause problems I've worked with Qi as part of Qigong systems. I understand there is a universal force. It was not until the holy spirit was moved by active worship that it took on the quality it did. I believe this (my experience of it) is solely Christian as it is through mentally allowing Jesus to be the conduit for that energy. I believe this allows it to take on a different quality. Kind of like the difference between light shining through a regular window. Or a fine stained glass window of many colours. Now I can only talk with my own experience, but the mystical union and operations of the mind/heart that activate are unlike anything else I've experienced. And very much with the quality of Jesus. Not to say that Jesus wasnt working back in his time with universal force and holy spirit that came before him, i'm sure he was. But through Christianity and it's various rituals I think it's safe to say you are tapping into something quite different. Or at least utilized and fine tuned in a certain way... If you do Reiki you get certain quality (lots down to the creator of system and lineage), same with systems of martial arts, there's always a lineage and certain purity passed on, I think there are psychic implications too and masters of systems partially live on in their systems. Jesus apparently had the authority to cast out demons and heal the sick. But I think it was really the grand finale that sealed the deal and established his lineage [kingdom]on earth. It was a smart move and now probably the biggest movement of social qigong on the planet. Monks, Nuns and regular people using the dozens of daily meditative and prayer practices everyday. Not to mention the eucharist. I think by virtue of the sheer magnitude of the group co operation there is a significant quality at play with the holy spirit via the practices. Of course it still comes from the same Source,it's still made of the same stuff but it seems to take a very distinct quality to other forms of tapping energy. As said though I think it's the worship aspect and the choice people make to hold Jesus up that high in their hearts and trust he is one with God and nothing stands between them. It's like my kung fu teacher is a up there with the lineage holders of IP Man Wing Chun,( but Ip didn't invent kungfu, any more than Jesus invented Healing, ) I'd rather be taught by him than any of his students. No matter how much better they may seem , even technicaly. My teacher is closer to the source and I think his kungfu is more pure. There are other functions and mechanisms that I think come into play too,,, down to the crucifixion and resurrection story when it's internalized,, and the implication of taking that on-board as a living practice. But it's for a different post maybe. Really though these are just my beliefs and opinions and I respect all others truths too...
  15. Christianity

I agree, to a degree. I've noticed on here in the forum though an importance placed on legitimacy of teachers, the legitimacy of lineages. And whether certain systems yield certain results based on legitimacy of teachers and their students abilities as a result. The more I work with the Holy Spirit the more I see I'm handing myself over to this lineage that was started by Jesus Christ in his ministry and his wishes. All the the people that hold up his life, death and message to the light also align with him as a teacher and master. I think the accepting him as God thing is very interesting, as a mechanism for protection against all other spirits in his name it makes sense that people choose to view Jesus as God. It simply means that nothing else can come between Jesus and God , that's what makes this holy spirit idea so powerful I think. It's a choice thing though right, and it's just my personal take on it. I think holding other things above Jesus for the purpose of worship will mean a person can't really activate the holy spirit to the full degree of casting all else out (because mentally they are putting other people, beings deites high up to and between Jesus and God) does that make sense? I think that's why the truth claims are the way they are. Especially when it comes to effectiveness with exorcisms etc. I think you are right though in a not mystical semse. I don't think it's important if Jesus existed at all, his teachings are just pretty simple social and personal advice. The mystical body of Jesus though that works through all the believers that seems to be another story entirely and it's only something I'm just about getting into. It's highly ritualistic with the church and what not And it seems there is a deep power in it. Takes a leap of faith in the beginning though like they say. Makes sense that it would work that way.

  17. Truth Of Casual Sex

Oh one other point, careful how many good girls you let slip through your fingers. Universe has got a funny way of teaching us lessons about the good the bad and the ugly if we pass up on too many good opportunities, what do you think might happen. Careful how you treat these girls as well, you might find one day you get a taste of your own medicine. That sounded harsh probably but itā€™s true. Donā€™t leave it too long mate. And when you do find a nice young lady and be very thorough when it comes to red flagsā€¦ listen to your instinctsā€¦ Good luck
  18. Truth Of Casual Sex

I get where youā€™re coming from @Immortal4life. And feel lucky in a way that I made getting to know many women a priority in my 20ā€™s As you say people prioritise in order to be successful with women often at the expense of other areas. Like working and staying in, saving up money for stability eg car, house, and setting up more passive income maybe or businessā€¦ Pregnancy is obviously a danger when it comes to having sex. And having a child on the way and being ill prepared is not so much fun.. But if you value sexual freedom and freedom in general in your 20ā€™s (and maybe 30ā€™s) itā€™s a reality people may have to faceā€¦ like I did. Itā€™s hard to set up your business and provide for a new family plus be there for the little one for all the lifting and carrying , appointments and quality time, all at the same time without savingsā€¦ especially when the 20 something year olds around you have set themselves up for kids and marriage and donā€™t seem to have too much of a problem with any of itā€¦ but thatā€™s how being human is done, none of us get here without that personal sacrifice of our parents.. anyway maybe having kids isnā€™t your bagā€¦ which brings me to my next pointā€¦ Life as a player, in your 30ā€™s and 40ā€™s is what exactlyā€¦ working on your body count is only gonna deprive you of moving to the next level. Meanwhile going grey being arguably less desirable, or at least energetic and unable to be a young parent should that time come. I hear what you are saying about the efforts to blur the lines of gender and all that, and sort of agree with you traditional gender roles peaked in the late 80ā€™s, but I think youā€™re missing the big picture when it comes to perpetual casual sex and body countsā€¦ Parenthood. If you duck out on it good for you, but I think itā€™s a gamble you might regret takingā€¦ Back to casual sex though, I think if you got savings and plenty of money and free time, plus youā€™re getting a bit older but you keep fit and have loads of energy, given the right environment you could have a great time with casual sex. But what is the eventual goal, outcome, aim or gain??? donā€™t you wanna level up and move to the next generation, as it wereā€¦ I only know it from a parents point of view and itā€™s worlds away from where I was as a singleton. Canā€™t imagine how Grandparents feel when they see people the same age as them that never had kids. Very strange Iā€™m guessing. but each to their own. Hope my comment doesnā€™t seem to Judgey. Proud Dad and Father, (of a daughter by the way) Thrice D
  19. The Five Elements In Modern Life How do you work with five elements in daily life? are there any simple everyday practices you use? What books, resources or personal experiences have you found most helpful understanding five elements? After playing with five elements in various ways, I decided to dedicate a year to one element, then for five years I focused on one element a yearā€¦ I started with Metal and finished five years later with Earth to keep me anchored to the element throughout the year I did something quite simpleā€¦ Instead of buying clothes randomly I selected only the colours that were associated with that element and wore that colour for that whole year. (and the preceding element, so there was a bit of variety, and they work well together) So every morning Iā€™d have a reminder of the elements and the qualities I was working with. It was more like play really. It was an interesting experiment. I MIGHT ACTUALLY REPEAT IT What are your experiences of the Five Elements , Iā€™d love to read moreā€¦
  20. So, I posted not so long back about the possibility of God Creating the Tao, in a reply it was proposed that perhaps the Tao created God. Last night I had a moment where that made great sense. Perhaps the Tao made God and God then created the Tao that created God even. Iā€™m not ruling that out as paradoxical as it is. Anyway when all this (existence) started and the first Yin and Yang expression formed. I would put God up there at the top. (If not above the Tao.) I think I also read someplace that Guan Yin is regarded as the very highest expression of Yin. I also read she is regarded in the same way as Mary. As Mary is also viewed as perfect and the mother of God. The perfect Mother and mother of all Christians, I guess she in her human incarnation is regarded as the highest Yin. Im just spitballing here, all itā€™s all pretty new to me this so please bear with me if my opinions sound underdeveloped. Have you thought about this? How does it make sense to you? Do you pray to either of these Beings? Do you feel as though the prayers likely go to the same place? Should or shouldnā€™t be intended to? Your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Love reading your responses on this ere forum. Itā€™s quite brilliant so thanks in advance for your time. Best, Thrice Daily

I do hear what your saying, but I was referring more to the contradictions in terms of the translations. Alhim, Elohim, Yawah, Nephilim, Seraphim and all the confusion of Giants and Fallen Angels in the old texts. Itā€™s that I donā€™t think is helpful, Iā€™m sure we have been led to believe many beings are gods in the past, but I personally donā€™t want to get caught up in those kinds of scenarios. Sounds like you might be talking about Family Constellations or Gestalt therapy . Thatā€™s cool , are you into that? For me it was more Nlp and then 6 healing sounds that did the kind of work you are talking about. also some different forms of dance therapy really helped me in a group setting. I miss those days, they were tremendously healing. Iā€™ve done quite a bit of the surrogate family work, very valuable for you and your stand in family members. Are you a practicing Christian now? Have you heard of Christian Gratitude Practice Examen?
  22. Eclectic Meditation

I think I read one form of Samadhi as man is deprived circumstances are not deprived. This I feel is very helpful when you want to maintain a gap in thoughts , switch to visual and hold attention But then whatever it is, practice, practice, practice

I think this is good, it like saying don't worry good will eventually overcome evil. Respect, Dignity and Civility will eventually triumph. I hope so, in this age of internet and transparency it's harder for people to lie and hard it, harder for people to trample over others and get away with it. there are also many brave independent content creators that are bent on telling the truth in the world in real time even if they face cancellation or worse. this gives me hope that possibly after all the tyranny of the past perhaps there is a chance for good to triumph for once, or at least for a while. I guess these things come and go in cycles though. I'm not really into the apocalypse idea, I refuse to let go of my eternal optimism for mankind ā¤

Manitou, I'm not sure. I stay well away from the old testament now, I'm sure those energies can still be accessed but I don't think it's a good idea. I'm sure there can be powerful experiences had by aligning with them. But I feel it is not God proper, the very source of creation. I think the beings And energies in the old testament were highly tainted and it was all cut off from with Jesus Providing that's where the focus it. It's very clear cut to me...those beings in old testament, were in creation. They could not have created it all surely. I pity those who try to investigate these old energies in their souls and hope they come out the other end alright, I don't think them safe. Imho, the new testament shouldn't even be bundled with the old one. It flys in the face of it if you ask me, even if it were part of an earlier prophecy, their was a direct decision to cut off from these old ways.. And I used to think the old testament was boring. YHVH, did me no good... Anyway we live and learn. I think if you held a mirror up to God he would see the Tao. Forever and ever...
