  1. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

It is easy to forget, I know. It is easier for folks if they are a hermit for a while to learn this and try to follow breath all day. Then itā€™s easier to do with distractions and other people, college, uni, work etc Have you had chronic illness or sickness as a child. I also had to overcome childhood injuries. I think it is a super power. We ā€˜have toā€™ train every day in some way no matter what. Discipline becomes next level and easy normal. it was yoga that did it for me. Quite unintentionally I laid a good foundation in Hatha and then Ashtanga yoga for a couple of years before doing Qigong Word of caution though. I was breathing too deeply at first. The qigong effects were really too powerful for what I needed and I did create some problems from breathing to maximum capacity in some qigong practices early on. Now Iā€™m much more balanced in my approach to breathing and it changes in intensity and depth session to session. Know what you mean though, itā€™s really the deep breathing that gives effects, keeps the defensive qi very strong and can activate heat even when should be cold. I agree and think you should keep telling people even though people complain. I think you should ignore them, as long as you also allow their ideas. I think you always adding breath respectfully in comments is very good for practitioners to read, even intermediate and advanced. I think everyone forgets sometimes, and breathing is the best beginner mind focus. I like reading it, foundation is always most important. Know what you mean, itā€™s good to keep the 3 dans connected. For many years I would sleep with left hand on heart centre and right hand below the lower dan tien. It helps to balance energies. Very good practice for sleep IMHO

Totally agree with you on the breathing sideā€¦.. However,,, the real ā€œbang for its Buckā€ in the six healing sounds is the Intention work involved in transforming ā€œreframing unhelpful emotion responsesā€ It works very much in the same way as NLP , it is like a self hypnosis , a psychotherapy session and nlp session all rolled into one, and with stretches and breathing too. there is a shamanic aspect to this practice and connecting with the animals also seems to help strengthen certain emotional states. The systematic approach is beyond breathing @ChiDragon you must try it to receive its fruits thoughā€¦ It was very detoxifying for me and extremely powerful at first, now it is much easier to ride the storms that can come from this deep practice. best thing is itā€™s a beginner practice, intermediate practice and advanced practice all rolled into oneā€¦
  3. Why bother with morality and ethics?

Ahh, you are 24. It sounds like you have already come a long long way. An old man may be lucky to have some of this insight into wisdom. You are still young and may have much protecting you that youā€™re unaware of. If you have gotten out of harms way. I can highly recommend the middle way. You may not feel ready for it yet and may still be drawn to excesses, but it sounds like you have already had quite a ride with all of that. I began to make my peach with excesses at this splendid old building in York England called Madhayamaka (it means middle way) and is a Tibetan Buddhist centre, here I was able to work a little, in exchange for accommodation and food. I also got to listen to monks, and speak a little with them too. It was very useful. I I wish Iā€™d taken the advice to go spend time with monks when I first got given that advice, at age 18, and it was my mother who told me I should. I ignored itā€¦ When I was 28 I eventually did it, it was time, and a great time too,,, very very groundingā€¦
  4. The Construction of Judaism

    True be that
  5. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

This is brilliant advice @ChiDragon if only I had the time I would literally read all dayā€¦ But then they also say an ounce of practice is worth a ton of theory, so go figure. I agree with you processes are well worth learning from western understanding of A&P too. When I trained to be a therapist we had very deep anatomy and physiology course. IMHO though Wu Xing far surpasses this western approach for self diagnosis and self treatment (especially acting on emotional body) [then physical catches up etc]. Iā€™ve not treated others with TCM , myself though for 20 years had great results. Really. 6 Healing Sounds ā¤ļø Including five animals tooā€¦ Tiger , Turtle , Dragon, Phoenix and Tortoise ā€¦
  6. Or auditory like me Cool answerā€¦ Cheers Nungers but please tell me, what do you mean by remedial work in this context?
  7. Why bother with morality and ethics?

Wow, thatā€™s a deep and personal response. I wasnā€™t expecting that. I enjoyed reading it a lot. Iā€™ve had similar experiences you knowā€¦ one component of mine was different though, but when I fixed it I fixed all the other stuff too (over time) The difference for me is if I seem someone suffering, like a kid being bullied my their parents in the bus or something, I would reach out of my own energy to help the kid, I would feel so much for the kid that Iā€™d go home and just collapse with exhaustion . Iā€™d done it all my life and had no tools or insights to control or stop doing it. For me all the tools and understandings where in my Reiki training. I learned self protection methods and deep grounding methods. When Iā€™d qualified I read into many of the earliest students methods, they were wide and varied but operated from same principles. the strategies were many and within that discipline I was able to learn to stay in my own power , truly, for the first time in life. People bash Reiki which is a shame I think. The techniques I found to be very useful and quite universal common sense in application tooā€¦ I hope you crack the nut too, maybe look into Reiki or find something else that can give you similar skill, especially while dealing with your psychic situation. I know it can get tough, but it can get better with the right training for youā€¦ Whatever you do, itā€™s safe for me to say,,, grounding practices are keyā€¦ Good luck and Iā€™m happy to chat with you more in this thread or any other
  8. Why bother with morality and ethics?

    Please elaborate?

  10. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

Interesting, primary, What is the usage of the word here if I can inquire? Totally agreed, how do you approach these ebbs in your practices, do you have any rules you follow so good endurance is not displaced etc? The first time I did Wing Chun with a friend Iā€™d been looking at Wu Xing quite deeply for some months and doing six healing sounds daily, the martial art seemed best filtered through the understandings there to a degree. [element to element] The mechanical learning soon took over though and the earlier sessions were largely lost. Iā€™d like to look at martial partner training again like this at some point. Thankyou, Wu Wei, Ziran, De lead hopefully moment to moment. Always checking, expecting less than relaxing, very quietly. cool šŸ˜Ž
  11. šŸŽž Nice clip, Thankyou Master Lograyā€¦ šŸ„‹ He looks like a solid guy Lots of nice tutorialsā€¦
  12. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

@ChiDragon hey can I ask you, what does this say and mean? Thanks Dude šŸ™
  13. I tend to keep my training secret largely, and return to basic rudiments if people watch or at a class. Just have slow respectful beginner mind. My daughter though I teach some stuff to. She loves it, a couple of days ago she asked me if I can become a teacher. She said, oh please Dad. She is just 7. Man something in her voice made me think about doing it. Great Responsibility. Maybe one day, get permission to teach. Iā€™ve been very respectful so far, and donā€™t teach as Iā€™m not qualified. I might have to thoughā€¦ Anybody here qualified to teach Martial Arts, or have experience doing so, any thoughts?
  14. Ah the unstoppable force meets the immovable objectā€¦ My favourite film illustrating this point is Collateralā€¦ Still, it was an early morning for my this morning, very early and Iā€™m not going to lie. It was an excellent session with the sticks. Iā€™ve found some absolute gems Gem šŸ’Ž šŸ’Ž šŸ’Ž šŸ’Ž šŸ’Ž in the practice , they will probably keep me going for years, maybe even ten. Iā€™m using Beach wood though as my light practice sticks are strangely missing. They are heavy and so itā€™s quite different training. Gotta watch the elbow joints (and shoulders) Still great training. Blessings to all šŸ™ And @Nungali, you were right to recommend that fma player through the video you shared. It is ideal information for the trajectory Iā€™m on, so again, Thankyou.
  15. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

And different times energy in organs waxes and wanes making it better times to practice certain things or worse times correct? Mental concentration work blocks are great to organise with the organ clock. iā€™ll try to have a nap around 11:30-12:30 as example. Early morning abdominal massage and lemon water is great. Walk and socialize etc around 4pm Do you have ways that you use the waxing and waning of different energies throughout the day that make sense with your habits and routines also?
  16. The four kinds of Chi to be cultivated in Qigong

Interesting, by quick Google translate 後天之 = The Day After Tomorrow 天之 = Heaven 後之 = Later 天 = Sky 後 = Back ę°£ = Rather Worryingly translates as ā€˜GASā€™ !!! How does the rest of it line up for you, does it look correct? This is quite a nice little article for English speakers who want to read a little about post natal chi; https://www.acenterfornaturalhealing.com/livingafulfilledlifeblog/tag/postnatal+Qi
  17. Adding Qigong to "Western" Movement practice

If you are still searching, I'd look at some Ashtanga Yoga, you would probably enjoy it, it's very dynamic and muscle oriented. You are going to get some great mobility and an awesome workout from it. You get some meditation at the end in corpse pose... This is he practice I used to do... But that of course is Yoga, for Taoism, maybe look for a Tendon Changing Classic, (Yijinjing) again it's dynamic and it is going to give you a similar satisfaction. But it is Taoist. What kind of exercise do you specifically do, each day, each week? Do you have training cycles specifically?, do you do weight training?
  18. Taoist point of view towards sauna therapy

Just one thing I remember from book, "stretching scientifically", it said that steam room is always preferable to sauna, the reson give was that sauna taxes the heat from the heart, so steam room is better for the heart... I also read in that book, he way to alternate hot and cold, so when I leave the steam room, I cold shower, first legs, then arms, then head, then back then chest. I always remembered that method, less shock for the body, nerves and heart, cools down blood gradually through the venous return. I've heard good things about testosterone ramping up with long hot saunas though, not tried them. It was an old book, stretching scientifically, maybe now its deemed perfectly fine for heart health, not sure, exercise caution.
  19. Replenishing Jing,qi,shen exercises

I might be off with this, but this is my understanding so far, hopefully I get corrected if I'm off base.. Improve Jing- If I spend my Jing, I have a day off intense practices and eat red meat. Improve Chi - Early Night sleep, eat food to bring balance, maybe fry, maybe boil, steam, it depends, also frequent naps I use Pomodoro technique so 25 minutes work, 5 minutes nap with eye patch, always improves Chi and restores defensive Chi even with little sleep. I find Chi always gets stronger day after I do heavy weight training too. Maybe do Yoga Nidra on youtube too... Improve Shen - Watch nice media, no violence, soft music not too hard, time in nature, grounding, practice gratitude for all things, say some prayers.
  20. Voidisyinyang

I thought I was a bit of a mentalist till reading this thread. Frying yourself on Daobums by talking about self directed distance orgasm gong practices,, in McDonalds of all places, sheeze, what a way to go... I almost feel bad for the chap.
  21. Could anyone introduce me to the basics of daoism?

Cool question Sir, love reading all the answers that are so wide and varied, as this is a unique answer I'll share; Taoism has so many things under its umbrella, but they will share some concepts. A nice approach might be to fit your exploration with an area of your life you want to discover through a Taoist lens... The Home - Feng-Shui Self Defence - Chinese Martial Arts Relaxation - Qigong / Tai Chi Cooking - Chang Ming Massage - Tuina or Amno Fu Health - Acupuncture or Acupressure, etc TCM Divination - I-Ching Then with Meditation in stillness and movement there are so many different teachers and approaches.
  22. Daoist Meditation

  23. Daoist Meditation

There is a wealth of reading material available, I personally got a lot from "Iron Shirt Chi Kung" by Mantak Chia, and "Opening The Energy Gates Of The Body" by Bruce Frantzis They are two very different perspectives on standing and the associated practices that come with. If you happen upon these systems, Mantak Chia tends to arouse more side effects, if I'm looking for a more colorful experience of Taoist teachings I'll practice Mantak as I think he has a lot to offer. It arouses a lot of energy and is transformative in a very involving and active way. If I prefer to practice with a more sensible and calm approach, with less mental and emotional reverberations, I'll follow more of Bruces method. Much more about letting go than adding on. Dissolving practices, externally and internally, as outlined in the book above. They are the two traditions I tend to stick with. They both have plenty of material available in books and video formats, Tai-Chi as well, Bruce has xing yi , i chaun and bagua experience and lots of explanatory material available on these to study and absorb should you want to... Very best thing you can do though is learn from a physical teacher, even if you have to travel to a workshop or two. Prepare well, respect the practices you learn and they will accompany you for life... I think its extremely important to connect with teachers... The guys mentioned above have been my go to places for information though, but bare in mind I started 20 years ago so I'm sure there is a load of new/better? stuff too... Good Luck and do hope you enjoy your journey, relaxing early on is often easier said than done, but that really is the key...
  24. Taiji Quan for Self Defense
