of course. the operative word is believe. because science is a religion. the true believers vs heretics this is a proof that science is a religion. because a religion is based not just on a belief. but on a belief in two conflicting truths. war is peace. climate scientists oppose their employers. god loves you.

edumacated peeps do not understand the diff between 'science' (which is an ideological figment) and technology which is real useful things. they disingenuously cheat pretending that science is technology. maybe they are clueless of the fact that technology been existing for millennia before 'science'. maybe they do not know the meaning of 'irony'. maybe they reason in zippy soundbites. (whatever it is they make me laugh everyday)

this is a mystery though. Brine is a teacher who says they study the book with his own teacher. Coons is a teacher who sells lectures on books. Question: What these teachers need the books for? We know for what the textbooks are in college: for cramming and for problem solving (in STEM classes). but why are books needed in neidan or "neigong"? do they cram? do they solve neidan problems? cant these legacy teachers just go ahead and simply tell their students what to do? this is very strange. On one hand they boast that teachers know everything; on the other - they "study" the books. so which is it? (this is an unpopular opinion question)

The art of war, then, is governed by five constant factors, ......... These are: (1) The Moral Law; ... Therefore, in your deliberations,..... (1) Which of the two sovereigns is imbued with the Moral law? There are three ways in which a ruler can bring misfortune upon his army: ... If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight, even though the ruler forbid it; if fighting will not result in victory, then you must not fight even at the ruler's bidding.

i would say all are fine on the getting the general message across. Mair is probably the best since Giles writes in antiquated english while Cleary is habitually vague. (I read only the Gile's one, cursorily at that).

it says 无穷 無窮 wú qióng endless; boundless; inexhaustible https://ctext.org/art-of-war/weak-points-and-strong/ens

not really. On one hand the text is a very simple one so any translation would do for an average reader. On the other hand Giles simply does not understand Sun-zi's paradigm. E g: but Sun says: 孙子曰:凡用兵之法,全国为上,破国次之;全旅为上,破旅次之;全卒为上,破卒次之;全伍为上,破伍次之。是故百战百胜,非善之善者也;不战而屈人之兵,善之善者也。 Always In the method of using the army the practical art of war, the best thing of all is to take the enemy's to keep your own country whole and intact; to shatter and destroy it is not so good. So, too, it is better to recapture an to keep your own army entire than to destroy it, to capture a to keep your own regiment, a detachment or a company entire than to destroy them.

because there was always an excess male population who due to economic conditions could not get a livelihood domestically. they were led bloodthirsty and inept generals who could only win by brute force. winning without a battle is for geniuses and geniuses are rare. no, on this planet there is;) the winner takes it all. you probably did not notice but young kids are quite bloodthirsty on their own because they do not understand the main message. thats why they use imprecise terms like fighting. there are many ways to fight. but the book says the best way is by avoiding a battle which is a head-on clash. And the book does not say 'subdue', subdue presupposes a use of force. it says 'exhaust' which only happens if enemy's efforts fall into a void not into a battle. in general the translations you quote are peppered by mistakes like

AnonymousNovember 26, 2013 at 03:34 I was a student of Serge Augier and left with other students when heinous marketing and sectarian manipulation gained in intensity he is good at fighting, the ..., hence the fact that he can give the change on his story for a while but he's a liar, and the straw that broke the camel's back was when he told us that we had to "help him sell as many books as possible" https://fuckedupbeyondrepair-blogspot-com.translate.goog/2013/11/pourquoi-jai-lu-et-surtout-ecoute-serge.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

So you know that he has no achievements whatsoever. Because if he had any you would specify those. And yet you i was always fascinated with what motivates people like you to endorse the teachers with no achievements. still a mystery.
-
Mair misunderstood this. The main point of this chapter and the entire book is to never go into battle.
-
what did he himself achieved concretely?
