  1. of course we need to let all of that go. it is gonna slip away in a few years anyway so why cling to it sure we can
  2. yes it is because it is the tradition. and the tradition requires to 'kill your human heart so your heavenly heart comes to life'. not palatable to a normal man at all.
  3. first of i am grateful to you again for being such a good sport and not taking offence at me quoting your post . its a rare thing. so by now you know how to do ND practically, yes? i have a complaint about that. you see my intro course explains the entire working of the universe, the human life death and immortality, the principles and practices of all and any neidan, religion and cultivation. Seriously, it does. But a few times when i explicitly and clearly taught it to a student - the student just shrugged and said to himself 'nah this is just stupid, i just wasted a benjamin on this fool and his silly gibberish'. at least thats the impression i got. makes me sad a smidge.
  4. i leafed through the free sample. It is an excellent primer on the neidan history theory and practice Unfortunately practically no westerner can learn ND from a book (or from a teacher for that matter but for a different reason). And that's because that a westerner literally refuses to see whats in their on paper in front of him in black and white. @Shadow_self thank you sir i am going to use you as an example, nothing personal. thanks again To wit: a westerner sees this: which of course cannot be any more clearer and goes so thats that. (@Shadow_self thanks again man)
  5. A.C. Graham

    certain humans certainly do
  6. A.C. Graham

good for him;) but it kinda feels like he does As fantastic his answer is, that was not the question. He was asked 'how' not 'from where'? Besides being a non sequitur, 'from' is also trivial. We all know about something from being in the same place with that thing. It is a necessary but an insufficient condition. A sufficient condition is for our senses to connect with the thing. And to connect we have to be in the same ontological category with it, which is doubtful in this case.
  7. Greetings Seniors (asking for guidance)

    you can begin here
  8. Visualisation - any good?

I voted yes. reading through this topic i was surprised to not see an obvious observation so let me post it. As every craft visualization has a secret to it which makes it useful. So when it is done using that secret then it is useful and when it is not then it is not. Whats the secret? It is what's the visualization is applied to.
  9. A.C. Graham

Thats a popular point of view that animals even cold-blooded ones like fish can have human emotions. It does not make sense to me because obviously humans are not fish but hey to everyone his own.
  10. A.C. Graham

thank you. your treatment is quite elaborate. 1. this either means A.) that the fish are experiencing an emotion of happiness or B.) they thrive. Which is it A or B? 2. how can we know if either A or B is true? We are not connected to the fish's psyche for A (assuming fish even has a psyche). And we cannot know their darting means they thrive for B: perhaps they are in a panic evading a predator which is out of our sight; or desperately compete for meager food in the water? How would you answer 1 and 2?
  11. Interview with Adam Mizner

sorry perhaps i was not clear. let me repeat myself: i do not consider relaxation a skill nor a product. my opinion is that these people have no skills. to substantiate my opinion i asked you to specify their skills. you said it is relaxation. i said relaxation is not a skill. thats it. lets agree to disagree. thank you very much for your valuable input;) see what i mean? this is so amusing. nobody can name these things. what things? do they have a name?
  12. Interview with Adam Mizner

of course. All these activities that you listed earlier are not skills per se. They are entertainment (infotainment, edutainment). And the dynamic duo in question are entertainers. Their teaching produces the same useful product as a medieval reenactment fair or any other pretend activity like a dude ranch or D&D. In a technical parlance what they do and sell is role playing. Thats their sole product and utility. yes i did. of course it produces a lot of hot air and entropy and misundefrstanding; but it does not produce any product .
  13. Interview with Adam Mizner

this talk of lineages always makes me laugh because it so Hollywood and Disney. Paging Mr. Miyagi!
  14. Interview with Adam Mizner

its a shame. i was interested in your opinion. oh please au contraire i am honored
  15. Interview with Adam Mizner

thats just fantastic! Yes someone can. But you see all of the humankind can relax without tai chi. Just by sitting down and taking the load off. So personally for me that "product" is not useful. And i dont see how it is useful for others. No usefulness (utility)=no product=no skill. Thats why i say these activities do not produce anything on their own.
  16. Interview with Adam Mizner

great. lets say it does. what good comes out of this Fajin?
  17. Interview with Adam Mizner

well yes. If you take things at a face value. But some say it was an esoteric/exoteric succession. Or the in-party/out-party if you will. https://study.com/academy/lesson/inner-party-in-1984.html
  18. Interview with Adam Mizner

It never existed for westerners. You see, the asians think that an outsider can never be one of them. Of course the westerners disagree so its a matter of opinion.
  19. Interview with Adam Mizner

thank you kindly i will Thank you very much, thats what i was getting at. You see, in my understanding a skill is a knowledge that produces a useful product. Those activities (per se) that you kindly listed do not produce anything let alone a useful product. It is a fact. And the suspension of disbelief from which this discussion has started is needed to block that fact from the logical reasoning of their customers. Now, i do not judge neither of them. I just make an observation which might be constructive for our community.
  20. Interview with Adam Mizner

i hate to be this dense but i still do not understand. what skills exactly we are talking about in the case of these two gents?
  21. Interview with Adam Mizner

Yes Duke Uni, class of 95;)
  22. Interview with Adam Mizner

No. I am just an MBA. Thanks for the visual aid. Could you please describe 'the situation'? So as we know what we are talking about. Many thanks.
  23. Interview with Adam Mizner

Suspension of disbelief, sometimes called willing suspension of disbelief, is the avoidance of critical thinking or logic in examining something unreal or impossible in reality https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_disbelief
  24. Interview with Adam Mizner

the other half is mopai. But it is not strange to us who studied economics - a marketplace always devolves into a monopoly. such is the way of the world
  25. Interview with Adam Mizner

not really;) its just my opinion its not a fact. anyone interested in my personal opinion can PM me anytime i solemnly swear that it was not a personal attack
