Spring Forest Qigong - A Question on how it works
Michael Sternbach replied to Shadow_self's topic in Daoist Discussion
Okay, but even with neidan exercises such as MCO you may be told to focus your mind on a certain part of your internal energy system - in a non-forced, relaxed manner. Now is this visualisation or not? Good visualisation is always relaxed anyway, never forced... https://www.qigonginstitute.org/abstract/152/exploration-of-the-traditional-neidan-method -

Spring Forest Qigong - A Question on how it works
Michael Sternbach replied to Shadow_self's topic in Daoist Discussion
Well, even in a traditional "no mind" approach like Zen training, you may be told to think of your thoughts as clouds passing by - that's visualisation for you! However, it is true the latter is emphasized and used more extensively in certain systems than in others. Medical qigong is employing it alot, at any rate, but so do neigong and neidan exercises in general, including MCO (Microcosmic Orbit), creation of the spiritual embryo, and many others. That being said, there is a plethora of different methods and individual variations thereof out there, so your mileage may differ. -
Spring Forest Qigong - A Question on how it works
Michael Sternbach replied to Shadow_self's topic in Daoist Discussion
Why, what's wrong with using visualisation? Many traditional systems employ it, including Daoist ones. Not that this would matter alot; if something works, it works. -
Chi is more of a non-physical thing giving a physical experience under certain circumstances. Yes, it can be understood in terms of physics. But you need to take things like ether and higher-dimensional space into account. Some physicists are getting there, gradually.

Significance of the December 21st?
Michael Sternbach replied to Mithras's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
What makes this year's Winter solstice so special is its coincidence with a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn of extremely rare proximity, blending the two planets essentially into a singular celestial body. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.space.com/amp/great-conjunction-jupiter-saturn-explained It is a wide spread belief that the Star of Bethlehem or "Christmas Star" that indicated the birth of Jesus and beginning of the current era was exactly such a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction of rare proximity. - This might explain the hype around the phenomenon. -

Yes, there seem to be a few different (but evidently related) ones. And I assume that many such cultivation practices are indeed rooted in the spirituality/science of extremely ancient civilization that are remembered in certain legends. And there are many legends from all around the world about immortal or at least extremely long-lived people existing in time immemorial. What if they were more than fiction? There are plenty of "mythological" occurrences that later turned out to be based on faintly remembered facts! I am not sure that those you mentioned "were not the high level" - especially if the stories told about them are based on truth! In fact, I think that only a highly evolved Master is fit to take on that kind of mission in the "outer world" of ordinary human society. Also, I think there may be different types of advancement - not all of which involve physical immortality, which however does not lessen them, necessarily. That said, there may also be a number of highly advanced individuals who prefer to stay out of most human affairs, but nevertheless exert a certain influence on things from behind the scenes, even by their mere presence.

That's exactly what I was trying to say: The fact that there are no immortals known (other than in some stories and anecdotes) doesn't suggest that none exist. Because they would of necessity do their best to keep a low profile. I don't think I have met any immortals personally, but I think there is plenty of reason to believe that some may exist, especially if you look into the history of Alchemy.

Pandemic Panic - Transcending the Fear

Nope, I meant the part that states a mere 252 cases being in a critical state. Any flu epidemic would have as much! But hey, flu cases strangely don't even occur any longer... See official WHO statistics posted above. Merry Xmas to you! Michael- 317 replies

What makes you think that I "dismiss God out of hand"? That's a non-sequitor as far as I am concerned.
