  1. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Sometimes when I am practicing my eyes water. Does this happen to anyone else? It mostly occurs when I am moving my hands up and down, similar to the Tai Chi opening.
  2. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I was wondering if it is OK to do the standing like a tree meditation before or after the flying phoenix meditations. They seem compatible to me.

Really disappointed with the political speech. No place for me. Also, believe it is correct to kick off people who just want to promote themselves. I Like the descriptions of which exercises and the order in which they are presented. I try different ordering constantly. Monk Holding Peach seems to attract me, follow it up with the long form. In any case, this forum is one of the best things going in the community. Congratulations and thank you to all who provide meaningful input.

Sorry everyone is having to deal with trolls. I have been doing FPCK for a while now. It is peaceful and makes me happy. All this contention is simply a non virtue. I appreciate Sifu Terry's efforts at validation, although based on the results I have had, there has never been a question. Relax.

Haven't heard much about this so I will ask. Is Flying Phoenix only a medicinal qigong? It doesn't seem so to me. I noted an earlier post about having insights during meditation. I also have insights while doing these meditations. Unfortunately, I can't always retain them. They slip away over time. I think I get overwhelmed with all the stuff that's going on. Anyway, thanks for the help everyone.
  6. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Did the fourth advanced seated followed by the two standings from volume 3. Finished off with 5th advanced seated. Very clean feeling, and a new feeling of exceptional wellness. This is a welcome relief in the middle of the winter. thanks all

regarding the warm up exercises on DVD 2....they seem to improve the effects of the forms for me. It's like the effect is deeper and smoother. I will definitely try doing 2 long forms back to back....never did that before. Time is a bit of a crunch. Also, Sifu, is the Flying Phoenix book still a go? I read you were working on one. I appreciate all the information given here. It seems everyone feels the energy in a way that relates to them specifically. One gripe, let's leave any politics out of the discussion. Here, let's be friends trying to improve, supporting each other. TF

Still enjoying Flying Phoenix. Always feel calmer, and at peace when I complete a session. Thanks to everyone for their input and encouragement.

pitisukha, for some of us the extra ordinary affects do not occur. I believe in the Evan-Wentz (secret doctrines) it even mentions words to that affect, saying something like..we practice anyway, not for the powers but because it's who we are. I believe that it is a true reflection of good soul, who endeavors to improve themselves on a daily basis. In any case, you have lost nothing and stand to gain everything. and I'm with you. maybe in the next life (if you think that could occur), you'll take it back up and make further progress. Or maybe, you're already there and you just can't tell. thanks for the help.

I understand your disappointment. Someone who uses people who are merely looking to better themselves dishonor us all. I am glad you brought up the lines out of the "Tibetan Practices" book by Evan-Wentz. There is a section in it ( the one with the 10 things) that speaks to finding a guru. Apparently there have been pretenders for a very long time. In any case I know nothing of the guy (other than what I have seen advertised), so I cannot speak to his authenticity. I do take it as an omen however, that Sifu Dunn disapproves.

Sifu Terry, Is there a best time to swallow the saliva that accumulates? It is a problem for me in the long form at certain points.

I have read the HHC and found it insightful. Yes, the longer version with all the posturing with the young Prince is an obvious jab and the competing religion, but the lessons still hold water. Mr. Walker cuts out a lot of the story telling and renders the text down to the sayings. I find all the talk of an "integral life" consistent with many other philosophies. For example Jesus spoke of "making the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside" from the Gospel of Saint Thomas. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung seems to promote a feeling of "connectedness" in me that I find most reassuring. The Tao De Ching promotes oneness or better yet "allness" (not even a concept of one). As with any document or teacher, the proof is always in the pudding. Sometimes you have to do a lot of digging to get to the gold.

Regarding BluePhoenix133....I agree with rldawson. It was very surprising to me how effective forms I had written off as not "for me" could be, once I came back to them. I say keep practicing the other FP exercises and then come back and see if there is an affect later. Definitely find out for yourself and don't take anyone's word for it. I believe SifuTerry Dunn has specifically advised everyone to find the sequence of exercises that works for them.....I personally try to do a seated and a standing every day, plus the long form in volume 4. The only constant is the long form. Haven't been sick all winter.
  14. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

this morning after performing 2nd standing of vol. 3 got the feeling of how alive the universe actually is. Cannot say enough good things about this meditation series. I really don't expect magic, but every now and then it occurs.
  15. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Yes, I also have had the same experience. Seems that forms that I didn't appreciate much earlier now have a greater effect. I have gone back to Volume One on several occasions and noticed effects I did not experience before. and yes, the more I do the long form the better and more long lasting the effects. Lately doing long form, then a couple of the seated from vol. 7, then if time both standing from vol. 3. in the evening doing long form again....still having lucid dreams
  16. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

In response to the sensations of heat generation....I'm with John Reinhard in that I have noticed "heat" or some sort of interaction whenever the back of my palms approach my forehead while doing the forms. Oh and Happy New Year everyone.
  17. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Sifu Terry, definitely NOT Angel or Saint...most likely the opposite... Thanks for the encouragement though. I have gleaned from reading this thread that mixing up the forms yields differing results or maybe the word is concentrations of the energy...am I getting this right? or is what is happening something entirely different. My own experience has been that certain meditations "feel" better with others.
  18. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Sifu Terry, Thanks for both replies. I tried the 2nd warm up ( 50-30-10) and then did " the sleeper" ever so slowly..the results were that the rest was better, the lucidity/control of my dreams was clearer. I was also aware of my surroundings to some degree, I believe. Everything is so subjective when I am like this it is impossible to be sure. I could be dreaming that I am aware of my surroundings while in the dream. (kind of like a hall of mirrors)....hard to put this kind of thing in words. I do have realizations and solve problems in this state, but unfortunately I am way to self centered to be able to solve any one else's. Plus they probably wouldn't want to hear it anyway. As far as the sense of heat request....hard to say. I tend to feel as if " intent" is the only thing moving during the form. ( I remember in the first warm up of the seated forms you alluding to something like this...so I try). Mostly lately, I feel calm, relaxed, and as if there is a blue flame around me. (after the meditations are complete) All for now...Please keep coming with the suggestions and the experiences. they are all very inspiring. the fool

Sifu Terry, Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot. I'm attempting to undo about 30 years of behavior modification and it's going slow
  20. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Sleep issues? Oh yes. Many years of shift work and military training will do that. But I am way better than I used to be. FP and other methods have helped a lot. I always feel better after practicing. tao stillness...do you follow up the sleeper with another meditation or maybe perform a different one first? I read some time back that Sifu Terry recommended everyone do the first warm up . I've been working on that and I believe it has made a difference. In any case thanks for the input and I will continue to practice and follow this discussion.. .....any tips are welcome
  21. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

yes, I have gotten the feeling of something around me, just don't sleep well after this one. Maybe this works differently on me for some reason. My guess is that each person needs something specific to them and the energy flows in accordance to that need. Kind of like an electron falling into a different shell around a nucleus. or maybe I just need to move a bit slower
  22. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I have been following this forum and practicing FP for some time ( a few years). Just got volume 7 a few weeks ago. Really like the forms and the energy. I don't get the "sleeper" result from the 50 20 10 one though. In fact, quite the opposite. I dream (lucid dreams) a lot. I may be sleeping, but staying aware while sleeping is something I wasn't prepared for . It reminds me of the results of one of the meditation techniques in Evan Wentz's Tibetan Practices book. ridingtheox is an inspiration btw. Much thanks to Terry Dunn and everyone who has provided their experiences over the life of this forum. Really cleared up some things for me.
