I think people often forget that humans have been around for millions of years. If it was possible to light something on fire like this guy, we would just take it for granted that it was possible and lots of people would do it, even kids. It's amazing how people, including myself, often suspend common sense when confronted with this stuff. T

Have you tried Fish oil or any products such as this cool anti-inflammatory i found called zyflamend? T

I read those books..useless in my opinion..no details. I can back that up by saying absolutely noone from that tradition can exhibit any of these skills. But I agree, I heard enough about the electric discharge across disciplines to be interested in it as a real phenomena. For example, Koichi Tohei does it. T

Yeah, can somebody write up his explanation? Thanks, T

hey there... just some thoughts and reactions.. first, alot of high level taichi masters never talk about chi. Those that do talk about chi use is it in extremely generic terms..like 'chi to back' 'chi to fingers'..which is probably completely different than what you are experiencing or looking for. so to talk about 'chi' is sorta meaningless, because it means different things to everyone and is used so generically. You're in the 'how you move your arms' bit because you're just learning the form. You need to learn the choreography and the language first before you can go deeper and understand what your teacher is showing you. I really doubt you will find a taichi teacher who is going to show you the taoist alchemy stuff you are referring to. I did encounter one who refers to the large heaveny circle when doing internal work and mentions kan/li type stuff. In the beginning, you just want to learn the movements, then perhaps you can start to incorporate breathing. If your teacher is clued in, he/she may start to reference reverse breathing. With reverse breathing you can on the exhale start to release tension and release your heart fire down to your dantian area. At ths point you will start to feel alot of the chi feelings..it sounds like you're at this level when you feel heat in the shins and ankles and the orbits opening and you feel like 'hitting things' because your limbs feel swollen. That magnetic feeling is supposed to get stronger so you feel like there is something around your limbs that you can actually feel. I got to this level and I tend to drop down because i don't practice that much.. teachers that teach this stuff are rare. but you can learn it on your own, i feel, if you become astutely adept at finding and releasing tension in your body and keeping your body elongated and lengthened--no small task. Enjoy Taichi..i think it's awesome.. T

The Divided Mind by John Sarno http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/006085178...7672930?ie=UTF8 Simply amazing. I've had a nagging shoulder injury and thought to myself..could this be related to emotions..is it related to oxygen deprivation caused by my brain..the pain literally disappeared simply upon questioning it..I've been insisting it was physically injured from not resting it. The New Reflexology http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/156924289...ie=UTF8&s=books stuff we mostly know about but presented in a clear way. there are connections between organs and specific muscles i never saw before...Trunk, i think you will like this one.. I lay flat and wait till i 'settle' then grab my ankles..so instead up pushing up in the pose, i think about my knees growing/lengthening and my head growing/lengthening. This initiates the pose. I only get off the ground a few inches, but I see how when I release competely, I'll go right up. I shake and do all kinds of crazy things when I approach the pose this way. I can certainly press my feet against my hands and lift up, but it's very tense. I want to work on getting into all poses this way as much as possible. T
-
i've been getting some wicked releases in this pose. i release the hip flexors in this one instead of pushing.. T
-
are you able to get your chest onto the floor? that takes lots of flexibility..this is a great pose... damn! How do you get into and out of this one? Also how did you work up to it? T Least favorite is also interesting..i pretty much like alot of them but I seem to have lots of trouble with plow and shoulder stand...

Very similar things can be said about Castaneda, Mantak Chia, etc. etc... Which leads to another question..are there any 'teachers' who aren't tragically flawed..i.e. human T

Work permitting, I'm going to try Kundalini Yoga this week..kundalini yoga seems to be a lot like chigung except it's done in an asana context. I also like the focus on glands and the health aspect..seems like lots to learn there.. T

Not to be a ball buster, but none of the above is proven. I think diets are as much about belief systems than anything else. Eat what works for you--meaning what you believe to be healthy and what makes you feel stronger, not weaker. None of these diet pundits that follow regimens look healthy to me. This guy, for example, is balding and has deep wrinkles. In my opinon, he needs more oil in his diet. Our blood chemistry has more to do with emotions and stress than food. Look at the controversy over cholesterol and diet. If it was so simple, we'd all agree that eating cholesterol will raise your serum cholesterol, like we agree the sun will burn our skin (for the most part lol). Obviously there is more to it.. T

-
do you mind giving me the two minute run down of what this is all about. I saw someone reading the book and he was very vague about it. I made a mental note to look into this stuff..what's it all about? T

I've been doing personal research on NO and have some interest in it. What is it about this article that got you curious? T

People in hot climates eat spicy foods to keep cool ironically, so a visualization that mimics eating chile peppers or something to that effect would be an interesting approach. Let us know what you come up with. T
