Daoist Internal Mastery - new Wang Liping book
vonkrankenhaus replied to Bruce Qi's topic in General Discussion
Information is good. But how will most people who will buy it be able understand it to know if it is or not? Reading any reviews - what cultivation have the reviewers achieved to intelligently or accurately review this? What will vaccinated people drinking fluoridated water, beer brewed in aluminum vats, and eating fake hamburgers do with it? -VonKrankenhaus -
Really modern technology has only existed for maybe a couple hundred years. Modern Humans are supposedly about 300k yrs old. People imagine that creatures that have been able to evolve for thousands or hundreds of thousands more years would have very advanced technology. There were archaic humans on Earth for over a million years before modern humans appeared. People think they had no technology, but they were mapping the stars and creating calendars, and hybridized grasses into grains and created civilization. In fact, they made modern humans, which appeared quite suddenly, from themselves. We know this from DNA studies. -VonKrankenhaus

Ouspensky and the forth way
vonkrankenhaus replied to Hannes's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
"Gurdjieff's former students who have criticized him argue that, despite his seeming total lack of pretension to any kind of "guru holiness," in many anecdotes his behavior displays the unsavory and impure character of a man who was a cynical manipulator of his followers." So this is similar to other early 20th century revisionist stuff presenting an altered, "New Age" version of traditional material. Same like Blavatsky, Krishnamurti, George Ohsawa, Bruce Lee, etc, etc. Better to study what they say their sources were. Humans do not actually need any spiritual "middlemen". We all have same status in Reality, where we actually live. "Colin Wilson writes about "Gurdjieff's reputation for seducing his female students. (In Providence, Rhode Island, in 1960, a man was pointed out to me as one of Gurdjieff's illegitimate children. The professor who told me this also assured me that Gurdjieff had left many children around America)."" -VonKrankenhaus- 24 replies

Practice/Forms/Meditation: Dietary, or Medicinal?
vonkrankenhaus replied to silent thunder's topic in General Discussion
This is letting go of Brainwashing and Conditioning. Essential. -VonKrankenhaus -
That is Bagua, then the 64 Hexagrams. But they say: "The term "circuit" is equated to a metaphor of the brain being computer hardware, and that the wiring of the brain as circuitry." and: "Although Leary propounded the basic premise of eight "brains" or brain circuits, he was inspired by sources such as the Hindu chakra system." and: "Leary's first book on the subject, Neurologic, only included seven circuits when it was published in 1973" and: "Leary claimed that among other things this model explained the social conflict in the 1960s, where the mainstream was said to be those with four circuits active and characterized by Leary as tribal moralists and clashed with the counter-culturists, who were then said to be those with the fifth circuit active and characterized as individualistsand hedonists." and: "Exo-Psychology, published in 1977, expanded the number of circuits to eight and clarified the subject. In it, he puts forward the theory that the later four circuits are "post terrestrial;" intended to develop as we migrate off this planet and colonize others. Once we begin space migration, according to Leary, we will have more ready access to these higher circuits." Sound pretty "New Age" to me. Because it is. It is junk. -VonKrankenhaus

To me this look like the various "7" systems, like Gurdjieff and Ouspensky, and even "Macrobiotics". These are based on the ancient visible planets just like Wu Xing is, but they are Western in origin. This is a "New Age" variation of those which has been associated with "psychedelics", which are another "New Age" phenomenon. You might think because is "8" this is Lo Shu - but it is not the Dipper stars. It is more related to the "New Age" version of "Chakras". I think it is just a modern part of the alteration and obfuscation of ancient knowledge that has been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years already. -VonKrankenhaus

He saw a huge complex living structure while using mushrooms. This is the large fungus underground that the fruiting bodies come from. Tobacco shamans see Tobacco Snakes that love tobacco and ask for it. They are smoking worm eggs and seeing the Tobacco worm, which eats tobacco. Some see "Machine Elves" when using DMT. "DMT" is likely synthetically produced and isolated, and these people are seeing that process in those molecules. Our cells pick up information from dying cells. When we die we do pick up the information from our own dying cells. That is what they say is "Your life passes before your eyes" at death. That information and understanding it is what "The Great Liberation Through Hearing in the Bardo" is about. -VonKrankenhaus

Storing energy in Mingmen v Dantien
vonkrankenhaus replied to HaRaMaRaHa's topic in Daoist Discussion
Actually, real "storage" is the Huang Ting cavity (Ring) between the Two Doors you name. "In" door is Front Door. "Closed" Door is Back Door. -VonKrankenhaus -
Whose thoughts do I think? Whose food do I eat?

Whose thoughts do I think? Whose food do I eat?
vonkrankenhaus replied to silent thunder's topic in General Discussion
Most people's thoughts have been shaped by the Educations systems. Most people's food derives from a synthetic industrial Feed System. This is just an extension of the domestication of human beings begun in the Holocene via Animal Husbandry and Agriculture. So, essentially, you are asking this question of artificially grown synthetic human beings. The Temple of God is the Temple built by God, not the bastardized artificial one. Not the one filled with Unbelievable Bullshit. -VonKrankenhaus- 25 replies

I had written: "Embryo in womb experiences and knows. But not Words." And then, after you wrote: "But now that I am out of the womb, I don't know what I don't know." I wrote: "Just like inside the womb" What I mean is that in the womb you have no words to associate to your experiences, but you do have experience and thus also knowledge. I did not ever write that you know "everything" in the womb. All we know is that you didn't really know words at that time. All I wrote was: "Embryo in womb experiences and knows. But not Words." But I didn't say "what" the embryo experiences and knows, just that it does. Now that you are out of womb, you do know words, but you still do not know what you do not know. Just like in the womb. -VonKrankenhaus
-
Just like inside the womb. -VonKrankenhaus

Then what I wrote would be true for you. If you know, then "known". If you do not know, then "un-known". And either way, Known is not the symmetrical opposite of Unknown. Just like Movement is not the symmetrical opposite of Stasis. Stasis is the absence of Movement. Whether it is you that Move, or Me, or Not. -VonKrankenhaus
-
Not sure if it is. Embryo in womb experiences and knows. But not Words. To "know" is not merely to "gain" words. In the polarity Known/Unknown, the Unknown is not the symmetric physical "opposite" of the Known. It is the absence of the Known or of Knowing. -VonKrankenhaus

Here is Zhou Dunyi's TaiJiTu, from almost 1000 yrs ago: This shows asymmetry of YinYang while maintaining YinYang polarity between both sides of diagram. He is using Fire and Water Trigrams to show Polarity. Wu Xing is shown this way because Yin phases on right, Yang phases on left. Tiny center circle inside Fire/Water Trigrams is still shown whole - One didn't "split" into Two Things. One HAS or EXHIBITS polarity, not "IS" polarity. -VonKrankenhaus
-
YinYang is just "Polarity". YinYang is not a symmetrical pairing of two complimentary "forces" or physical "things" of any kind. YinYang is asymmetrical. A "symmetrical polarity" is not a Polarity. It's a "balance", and YinYang is not "balance". Yang is Movement, Yin is Stasis. - Zhou Dunyi wrote that as proof. For example - Light/Dark is a YinYang polarity. That means Dark is not the symmetrical "opposite" of Light. Rather, Dark is the absence of Light. Light is "vibration" which mean "Movement". Dark is not a "Movement" at all. Left/Right is a YinYang polarity, but the left and right sides of the body are not symmetrical and have different organs. Observe this asymmetry down to a quantum level - then you will see the stuff VIYY is writing about. Here is an interesting quote from about 220 yrs ago: "When we say that the Great Ultimate divides itself and becomes Yin and Yang, and that Yin and Yang join to one another and form the Great Ultimate, we mean that it is One but they are Two, they are Two but it is One." - Liu Yiming, Xiuzhen biannan (Discussions on the Cultivation of Reality, 1798) Notice "It (the "One") is One but they (Polarity) are Two". The One never really physically "divides itself" or "bifurcates" to exhibit Polarity (Two). It is and stays "One". -VonKrankenhaus
-
One thing though: Infinity/Zero is not a polarity, not polar. Infinite/Finite is that polarity. And One/Zero would be the other. The Void is "not finite" - so not polar to "Infinite", which means "not finite". So maybe that guy is confused a bit. -VonKrankenhaus

How did you get that from what I wrote? If you assume DaoDeJing is a manual for doing Qigong and Neigong, this is incorrect. Older versions - same thing. OTHER Daoist books are about Qigong and Cultivation, not those. DaoDeJing is details to a leader from a sage about how to run a municipality. -VonKrankenhaus

Question about Falun Dafa / Falun Gong
vonkrankenhaus replied to EFS White's topic in General Discussion
The confusion between cultivation practices and the phenomena of Falun Gong is "programmed". 100 million people doing this - you know any Qigong style that ever had that many? This was subsidized to happen. It is not about the technical aspect or details of Qigong. It's not about whether the system practiced is "good" or not. It's not even about Qigong. It could have been a knitting party and same things would have happened. -VonKrankenhaus- 24 replies

I don't think there is much good in considering these texts as Cultivation Manuals. That's not what they are. Cleansing is like "Washing". So - in "Marrow and Brain Washing Classic" - what is meant in there by "Washing"? That is the Cultivation meaning too - "Cleansing". Did anyone study this? If not, Internal Cultivation - how could you do it? But these books you looking at are, like DaoDeJing, books about municipal management and the kind of person and attitude doing this. Not manuals about how to do Internal Cultivation. Not even "philosophy", but infused with that and just utilizing that. -VonKrankenhaus

That would make the Way into a physical thing. Dao is not a physical thing. Even more, Dao is not a physical thing physically producing another physical thing - like a factory. Dao is not a factory or an industry. It's just the Way things happen. Not the things themselves. Easy to name thing. Not easy to name all the ways everything happens. So we just say "Way" (Dao) and then we say: don't get stuck on that name - it doesn't describe a "thing". -VonKrankenhaus

Why should I feel confident in any of my beliefs, given that educated people often disagree with respect to major issues? (Daoist perspective)
vonkrankenhaus replied to Will's topic in Daoist Discussion
“If you follow the present-day world, you will turn your back on the Way; if you would not turn your back on the Way, do not follow the world.” ― Takuan Soho, The Unfettered Mind: Writings from a Zen Master to a Master Swordsman. -VonKrankenhaus -
No and Yes. Because until some thing moves, there is no way to discern "Stasis" - nothing to compare it to to see that it is "Stasis". WuJi means no polarity is there - no comparisons are possible. This is what we could call "Stillness", but if it is, it is a "Stillness" we cannot discern. It is "Nothing". It isn't until we have the TaiJi that there is the polarity that enables us to discern. And the first Movement is Yang because ALL Movement is Yang. -VonKrankenhaus

To those with the ability to see invisible beings that surround us
vonkrankenhaus replied to J Warg's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry. Maybe I read too much 莊子 and too much about 周敦頤. Maybe I don't have good enough respect for modern ghosts, ideas, and issues, but I do try to study them because I like people everywhere. I did not mean to confuse you or offend you in any way. -VonKrankenhaus -
To those with the ability to see invisible beings that surround us
vonkrankenhaus replied to J Warg's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps conversely, I'd like to ask those with the ability to see these (and others) visible beings that supposedly surround us on a daily basis: Are these beings really out there interfering in our lives? How is that even possible? Do we human beings really create beings with an independent existence that easily? Are they somehow intelligent beings? Do they have feelings? How can we counteract their power? The answers may be in the reasons for the questions, either way. -VonKrankenhaus
