No. Filmmakers do that. Then, they pay the street performer, once they sell the footage to a TV producer. - VonKrankenhaus

I have one. You can see it perfectly in any room. It's an LED bulb, just like many others. And you do not need to be scuffing feet WHILE using. Just beforehand a little. In some dry conditions, just walking across the room is enough to generate light in the LED. That "John Chang" video is standard "street-performer" stuff. - VonKrankenhaus

You make your "kung fu" hand gestures while the carbon disulfide evaporates, then the phosphorus will ignite. -VonKrankenhaus

YinYang is just Polarity. Very old. In the Chinese YinYang sense, it is easy to see how this idea becomes obvious. In the womb, we are in an all-dark existence. Upon birth, we see half light, half dark. Additionally, we see that the light is moving. We see this light move like "birth" and "death" of it. It is the Sun, from sunrise to sunset. So we add Birth/Death to the Light/dark that we saw. We are starting to see polarity, and the movement between poles of a polarity, or "Qi". If we look down and see earth there throughout this, we already know enough to derive the Fu Hsi Bagua. - VonKrankenhaus

What is it that you are looking for of YinYang (or the book in specific)? - VonKrankenhaus

Have you seen YinYang in the way lines of trigrams in I Ching are drawn? Solid line is Yang, broken line is Yin. These can be combined, producing many variations from just this. I Ching shows these permutations and their interactions. This is "dualistic" thinking, or "binary" thinking. This is what Leibniz saw in the 2 Shao Yong Bagua a missionary brought to him. This became the "binary math" he developed, and which is used for computers. Of course, Taoism include not only "dualism" but "monism" at the same time, in that we see YinYang in Taoism as not only "opposites", but complimentary opposites that are simultaneous. That part was grasped by Neils Bohr and used in physics. They use this to understand "energy", which we know as "Qi" - the movement between poles of any polarity (any "YinYang"). - VonKrankenhaus

It was you who wrote about computers. You wrote "The irony of all this logic-bashing is that computers and the internet (and thus The Dao Bums) wouldn't even exist without the invention of Boolean logic". So I just showed you that this "logic" you mention is actually based on I Ching and Taoism. In terms of why computers have been made only just recently, when all the materials to do so have been on this planet the whole time, that's another issue totally separate from your search for Taoist logic. We could say the same about almost all modern technological "developments". That's why I recommended the sources I did. They explain that. For example, before wondering about computers, take a look at why phonetic literacy itself was developed. - VonKrankenhaus

Computers: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2014/mar/21/ancient-book-wisdom-i-ching-computer-binary-code "The I-Ching was far more ambitious than the current practical applications of binary code, even in the most powerful supercomputer. The 64 hexagrams of the I-Ching claim to represent nothing less than the archetypal situations of human life itself." Physics: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Bohr#/media/File:Coat_of_Arms_of_Niels_Bohr.svg "All antagonisms are complimentary" Taoist logic at work. - VonKrankenhaus

It's about the consciousness that would see Taoist logic. Or, not see it. And a good bit of "why". That's why I suggested it. - VonKrankenhaus

Have you seen the TaijiTu? 8 Trigrams? Wu Xing? What part of these seem to lack logic? -VonKrankenhaus

This is discussed in both sources. Worth taking a look, at least. - VonKrankenhaus

You could take a look at what Marshall McLuhan writes about literacy. And you could check out this book: https://www.amazon.com/User-Illusion-Cutting-Consciousness-Penguin/dp/0140230122/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526930193&sr=8-1&keywords=the+user+illusion -VonKrankenhaus

Voidisyinyang is on the right track. Taoist "logic" is perfect, pre-literate, simultaneous. TaijiTu is not showing a "progression" or "sequence". It is not linear causality, and not a "time line". - VonKrankenhaus

Spirituality and Dao, Chicken and Egg

Tao produces One. That means, "as it happens, a thing appears". One is a "thing". Before is "no-thing", or "nothing". Only constant is Change. The only way for "nothing" to change is to become "something". The One, a "thing", has YinYang - has "polarity" - an up/down, left/right, beginning/end, and so on. All "thing" have Polarity, or YinYang. Movement between poles of any Polarity, of any "YinYang" - that is "Qi". - VonKrankenhaus -

"Tao" is not "mystical". Are subway maps "mystical" or "esoteric"? Tao means "Way". The "Way it goes" - that kind of thing. Tao is not a thing, not physically existing. It has no birth, no existence, no opposite, and no features. Just like the "way of making sandwiches" does not have any physical characteristics. - VonKrankenhaus -
I did use Dit Da Jow a lot as a kid. And Tien Ta Wan. Ours worked well. Sorry though - cannot give the formula here. Must be just like many others though. I remember one time a teenager friend trying to cut my hand along the knuckles with a pocket knife and not being able to, even though the skin was nice and soft. Most important - now, 45 yrs later, hands functioning very nice, no problems at all. You'd never know I once spent a over a decade hitting the same tree trunk over and over again - no injury, no impairments - VonKrankenhaus

An example of being "psychic"? Everyone has these. Everyone. I am just another one of "everyone" in that sense. As an example of how I did things professionally, I will write that I would do consultations for individuals and groups. For a day when I would see a group of people in a row, I would write on a sheet of paper beforehand about each person I felt would show up. These were "drop-in" appointments not made in advance, like an "open house". Any number of people "could" show up, and no advance reservations were made. Then, on the day they came, I would recognize them as they came in, pull out the correct sheet of paper, and just read it to them. - VonKrankenhaus

Everyone does. I was a professional psychic for a time, so I've actually done preliterate nonlinear synchronistic awareness "for a living". -VonKrankenhaus

Thoughts are binary. Reality isn't.
vonkrankenhaus replied to MooNiNite's topic in General Discussion
Never wrote "be". "Has". "Has" polarity, "has" a front, a back, an up, a down, a beginning, and end, etc. Life has a polar opposite, Death. Even if we do not see it. We can infer the existence of it by YinYang discernment (polarity). Whatever has a beginning, will have an end. -VonKrankenhaus -

Complimentary opposites. YinYang. Existence/Non-existence, Birth/Death, Beginning/End, Movement/Stasis, etc. Such that we never see day without night following also. Such that whatever begins, will end. -VonKrankenhaus -
Imagine a "time line". It is a line going from, let's say, "points" that we call A, B, and C. In such a "time" line, we go from A to B to C and we see a "progression" of time. But if we stand in the center of a circle with points A, B, and C spread out along the periphery in just the same way as we put them on the line, all points are equal distance, and the "timeline" is gone. Our awareness is like the center of the circle. We have been told we are going in linear fashion. But in nature, no line is straight, and when magnified, like a coastline, we see that there is much information that must be discarded before we can imagine a "straight" path there. So, "Time" is a concocted way of tossing out information. Like "civilization" itself is. -VonKrankenhaus
-
I suggest that "Time" does not move. Like the way a single coin is not moving at all to have "Head" and "Tail". -VonKrankenhaus

Sound is "Vibration". Vibration is an interaction of "Polarity". Polarity is YinYang - "Two" poles. Two arise from "One". One arises from "Nothing". The ONLY way "nothing" can change is to become "Something". Some thing always has Polarity - an existence/nonexistence, up/down, left/right, etc. Polarity is the reason for action - the Movement between poles of any Polarity. This is YinYang - Polarity, and "Qi" - movement between the poles of any Polarity. That is how Sound is happening. -VonKrankenhaus

vonkrankenhaus replied to MooNiNite's topic in General Discussion
Every "thing" has polarities - existence/nonexistence, up/down, left/right, and so on. Whether we see or think about them or not. "Change" is itself merely the movement between poles of any polarity. So, night/day, beginning/end, and so on, are all Movements. -VonKrankenhaus
