  1. Tao in the human world

There are many "kinds" of Qi. There is water qi, air qi, and so forth. Because qi is not a substance. It is the movement between the poles of any polarity. The movement of Heat, as in "thermodynamics", is showing "heat qi", but your definition would omit this from being qi, for not being "electromagnetism"? Not at the level we are discussing. Simultaneous arising of polarity itself is what Lao Tzu refers to. Not the arising of "you and an apple", etc. It mean that any "One" will simultaneously, from its existence, have a left and right, up and down, etc. Up doesn't manifest first, then down - it's both or "Nothing". -VonKrankenhaus
  2. Tao in the human world

YinYang are two, but the two is of one. YinYang are complimentary/antagonistic - "one" never arise without the "other". "Up" only never manifests. Only in relation to "down". So up and down appear simultaneously. Left and Right appear simultaneously. From one manifestation - like the left and right of any physical structure. "Left" never manifests without "Right". We never see only a "Left" side appear. In terms of Lao Tzu: Imagine "One" being Humanity. Male and Female appear, of Humanity. Produces Child (3). "One" did not polarize into "hydrogen" and "gravity". There is no polarity there to cause any coherent movement. And, Two of what gave birth to "the electromagnetic force"? Just the "numeral 2"? In terms of "Prime Cause", it need be no more complex than realizing that all things change, and so "Nothing" will also change, and the only way for Nothing to change, is to become "Something". -VonKrankenhaus
  3. Common history of yoga and qigong

Can you show some of the illustrations? And other illustrations you consider to be showing old "yoga" postures or exercises? (not argue - just discussing) -VonKrankenhaus
  4. Tao in the human world

Simultaneous because Dao is not a thing. Something comes from Nothing. And something always has polarity. Every "thing" has inside and outside, front and back, left and right, etc - or we say they have YinYang. Which obviously arise simultaneously. From One, Two. "Cause and Effect" is a literate mind view. A view informed by rows of letters in order. Literate says A, B, C in a row, which implies causality. Numbers they also see like this. Chinese (pre-alphabetic-literate, and also non-literate) way is existing ABC or 123 all at once, like reality. Like Chinese writing is a picture all-at-once, and not row of abstract sound symbols. -VonKrankenhaus
  5. Common history of yoga and qigong

Not throwing baby. But in fact there are more old Chinese depictions of yoga-like practices than Indian ones - what depictions of Yoga is even as old as Mawangdui, (not to mention the Greeks)? While we know the story about DaMo - from India, bringing these exercises. Modern Yoga people like Krishnamacharya - they had to look outside, maybe Tibet, for old yoga too. It is a very interesting history with much missing evidence. Theosophical society also published a lot more than just Patanjali Sutra about "yoga-like" topics. -VonKrankenhaus
  6. Already Tired of Ignorance

I was actually trying to help "Jessup2" understand some points about Daoism that would pop some of his biology studies into a more useful perspective if he was trying to understand how to apply these thing to qigong or neigong. But if I say "qi is not a substance" - he thinks I mean qi is therefore mystical or spiritual, not open to "science". He must believe qi is a substance he will find with better equipment. "Literacy" is not a substance. It also not mystical or spiritual. But is open to "science". So, this is like scientists looking for Dao like it is a place they can go. When science cannot find that "place", they say no such thing exists, it's "mystical bullshit". So I just say "no, nothing mystical - it's just not a "place". -VonKrankenhaus
  7. Common history of yoga and qigong

Not much about current Yoga posture exercises in that. The concepts. Practices were not depicted. Kalachakra Tantra also, 11th century, in terms of Hatha. I agree with you - there are other older sources too - but we know this is not where actual current practices really derive from. -VonKrankenhaus
  8. Common history of yoga and qigong

Actually, the current exercises reference British and Swedish (and Indian) military calisthenics. The "Hatha" yoga included was mostly sourced from Theosophical Society publications. And, yes, some Indian wrestling training exercises. -VonKrankenhaus
  9. Which shows that "Jing" is not a substance. If it were, the list would be totally irrational to everyone. (To most literate westerners, it would be right now) Jing is not a substance that changes into another substance. Neither is Qi. All deriving from initial and continued misunderstanding of Yin/Yang thinking. -VonKrankenhaus
  10. Common history of yoga and qigong

Most of what people call "yoga" today, the postures, etc - are quite modern, and only date from the 1930s. These have been back-associated (by modern practitioners) to the Patanjali (200-300AD) "Yoga Sutras", but this is merely a cultural association, and is not the source of the exercises taught today as "Yoga". -VonKrankenhaus
  11. Jing Nourishment

Which would supply bodily metabolic energy better - positive thinking, or 100lbs of rice? Can you name any part of the human body that is not made from food? And what is "food"? Let's say we have as "food" a carrot. What is this "carrot" if not air, water, soil, magnetism - or, in other words, the overall "environment"? Food is a concentrated form of the overall environment from which we arise and to which we will return. This is obviously a major part of the "Qi exchange" between us and our environment. Our "constitution", what we are "constituted" of, could be seen as the result of this exchange. So this is just one suggestion as to where to look for development and replenishment. -VonKrankenhaus

    Catholicism? http://www.viewzone.com/mithras.html -VonKrankenhaus
  13. Jing Nourishment

This idea is from a long time ago when people were living naturally. At that time, eating from nature, most people had times of starvation or less resources. Today, most people have chronic illness, and most of this illness is due to excess. This excess Jing is part of the energy that, for example, cancer tumors are built from. The modern civilized diet is designed to both provide this excess, and also provide a form of brain-based starvation as "nutritional deficiencies" that dull the mind and render it useful for things like TV "programming". With limited access to food, sexual activity becomes an issue - because sex is a discharge of excess that results in reproduction. So they are saying, do not waste your energy. Modern people all stuffed with junk foods and meat do not have so much that issue. They have other issues. -VonKrankenhaus
  14. Yijing and Prenatal (PreHeaven) Jing

"Pre-heaven" bagua is ancient arrangement attributed to Fu Hsi. This is showing location, direction, and YinYang in natural order. "Later-heaven" bagua is more recent arrangement attributed to King Wen. This is basis of 9 Palaces "astrology" as retrofitted to 5 phases, showing movement and change. I feel that "prenatal" refers mostly to a time before Chinese empires, and "postnatal" to the time afterwards of King Wen, etc. -VonKrankenhaus
  15. "Science" is there to justify a belief system also. One that started around 500 BC. It's an alpha-betic belief system. It features "cause & effect" reasoning. Accompanied by the religions of consciousness - the mono-theisms. A system now being de-constructed by means of electronic media, mandatory autism, and so on. While ancient systems actually STILL remaining unseen, un-cracked, and falsely debated. -VonKrankenhaus
  16. Consider that Qi is not a thing, and that is why Qi is never physically found or measured. Qi is movement, derived from polarity. No polarity means no Qi (this is impossible in nature). Same way, they will not find physical "channels". Qi is the relative potentials of YinYang at any given point in any spectrum of energy or matter. This is why there are so many "kinds" of Qi. -VonKrankenhaus
  17. Obvious fact. Been the same trick since they started selling chemicals to magicians. The "Human Powered Lightbulb" LED used in the John Chang video is also available at toy stores everywhere. https://www.amazon.com/COPERNICUS-TOYS-Human-Powered-Light-Bulb/dp/B001EVK3F6 -VonKrankenhaus
  18. That man is doing basic stage magic. The cup - everyone already knows this magic trick. Look under table. The paper on fire - this is just yellow phosphorus dissolved in carbon disulfide (which ignites after the carbon disulfide evaporates). Same as "John Chang" video. Even the wooden dummy watching knows all this. -VonKrankenhaus
  19. What is Non-duality?

Non-duality means all opposites are relative. Relative means Complimentary. If someone toss you a coin, we say you can get "either" heads or tails. If you try to get the head side only, both are always there. Psychologically though, many are trying! If you cut off tails side, another tail is instantly created. Because coin is One coin. All "things" - same way. -VonKrankenhaus
  20. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

"Matriarchy" used to be default. Because women are gestating, birthing, rearing, and feeding all human beings. At that time, humans were living and eating locally, in immediate surroundings. In this setting, woman is "in charge". Once long-distance trading and abstracted "commerce" became widespread, the focus "of value" shifted from the immediate to the distant and long-term. Long overland (or sea) trading require protection, which gives rise to "politics". So after that time, the role and place of women was different. Many women did and do participate in trading and politics, but by nature, they are bigger than these endeavors. Woman understands creation intrinsically, internally. Man always looking outside himself, hence his beginning such long-distance trades, and also looking especially to woman to become a "complete human experience". Of course, this has been abstracted and stretched out of all proportion into so many things - patriarchy, feminism - none of which seem to penetrate anything but very superficial views of this overall phenomena. Fake "society" concepts are at odds with reality - Yeah - no kidding. Woman is the center of human life now just as in the past, but few understand this. And at the center of this, the "uterus", where human is developing - is, originally, "emptiness". It is amazing. -VonKrankenhaus
  21. What is Immortality?

"Does Aging Stop? reveals the most paradoxical finding of recent aging research: the cessation of demographic aging. The authors show that aging stops at the level of the individual organism, and explain why evolution allows this. The implications of this counter-intuitive conclusion are profound, and aging research now needs to accept three uncomfortable truths. First, aging is not a cumulative physiological process." https://www.amazon.com/Does-Aging-Stop-Laurence-Mueller/dp/0199754225/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509728841&sr=8-1&keywords=does+aging+stop -VonKrankenhaus

  24. Nature of Chi.. Different Kinds

We define Qi as "the relative potentials of YinYang at any given point of any spectrum of matter or energy". Any kind of Qi. We could be talking about: "electric" Qi, "heat" Qi - any kind. -VonKrankenhaus
  25. Brain physiology and 'higher powers'

Physical and Spiritual = same thing. The modifications introduced have effects that span the whole process. Without the body and brain and without the physical being, who and what is it that would be "clairvoyant"? -VonKrankenhaus
