We reproduce as a way of casting off excess. In famine, sex desire goes down. People today eating for two bodies - creates desire to MAKE two bodies. Impossible to "ground" this excess with ideas about spirituality. Modern dietary idea about protein amount produces strong desire to reproduce (and brain lesions). Here I make some suggestions in a non-academic, ordinary context: Jing - ever see stories where a mother lifts a van her child become stuck under? This is a hormonal response of the endocrine system, mitochondria, and organs (adrenals). First step in cultivating: Stop impairing these functions with endocrine-disrupting chemicals in commercialized poisonous food, furnishings, medicines. Qi - is, in my opinion, the relative potentials of YinYang at any point on any spectrum of matter or energy. The apparent action of these potentials is nested within, arising from, and connected in an overall environment. So, for cultivation we may avoid disrupting environment factors like radar waves, microwaves, electric disruptions, etc. And lifeless industrialized food products, because food is a concentrated version of the overall environment (thus environmental potentials) that we choose according to our discernment abilities. For that reason, our discernment ability, we may avoid media and other forms of psychological manipulation - so as to eliminate false potentials. Shen - is what we start to see, becoming aware, by removing the obstacles from the above. This is nothing but normal human life development. As a general phenomena, this is how I myself define qi: Qi is the relative potentials of YinYang at any given point on any spectrum of matter or energy. Seem to me that the "body" is working for about 49 days after "death". For the first 9 days sensory cells are still working. Do not cremate before 9 days. Energy is releasing from all cells, which is perceptible. Eventually, leaving one tiny spot in one cell in the heart, the place of appearance. My family has extensive experience with this. It is an especially relevant discussion in modern time. Because most of what people are eating has little or nothing to do with food, the environment, or human progress. So today, one is not just satisfying old methods. One is actually fasting from diminishment and subjugation. In terms of cultivation practices, this is important. Because "food" of today has made people into something far from the people who developed cultivation methods. Hundreds and hundreds of years of observation of practices - they never saw any person like people today. People largely diabetic, autistic, cancerous, with 70% on prescribed pills. People today are cultivating that primarily, and only "briefly interrupting" that at times, with their "exercises". And need to get out of that first to cultivate anything more. -VonKrankenhaus
