Re: ----- "Anyone who has started to sense the true potential of the spiritual life has very little concern whether they are trapped in some kind of Matrix. Liberation that is only political is nice, but not the most important thing worth having. I suggest to you that your forays into spiritual practice were only ever about getting something for yourself here and now on earth. When you could see that it wasn't going to happen that way, you just went bck to the prosaic business of getting ahead on this planet. And when it isn't happening you blame those who supposedly keep you in subjugation." ----- The first sentence is very interesting. I guess it would depend on who "they" are that are stuck. Because, on the other hand, spiritual understanding can produce a state of "mea culpa" when the imaginary divisors are seen through. The whole second paragraph - that can be true. It's a challenge of sorts too, that seems full of bile, but it's also describing a normal part or stage of the beginning of spiritual thinking, especially in the modern era. As far as the call to try out the "liberation of the christian martyrs" - the supposed new martyrs might find a difference between legend and truth at some critical moment or another in their modern martyrdom. Like the monks who calmly lit themselves on fire and sat, burning, in protest of the war - this is still not truly an act of freedom. It still shows attachment and exclusivity. It is an act still relative and stuck in a materialist context of proof and meaning. To mainstream americans in the 1960s, those monks just became part of a TV show, and psychologically, a few more dead asians during a contentious time. Where were their intent and actions focussed? Externally, or internally? Or at psychological constructs? -VonKrankenhaus

Re: ----- "Yes. They are called the Eskimos and the Masai." ----- Not the Atkins Diet. These are people living in very extreme areas. Eating like them would adapt you to their environment. Is your heated concrete home and shopping mall in Florida going to feel comfortable then? What happens to Inuit that travel down into temperate or tropical areas? They are miserable. They have heart attacks. My grandparents lived with and filmed both Masai tribes in Africa, and Inuit people in Alaska, and I think people who hold these up as examples of a diet they might eat in their developed neighborhood in temperate areas are not working with real facts or understanding. These people and the way they eat is derived from their environment. Study how and why - before you eat for that environment while living in a completely different one. People juggle stuff in their mind until they feel okay about it. But the "proof" is in the eating, and I will let everyone return to chewing whatever they'd like to and having their own results. -VonKrankenhaus -

Re: ----- "100 million Native Americans, before you-know-who came to bless them with you-know-what. And the huge cooking pits designed to fit a whole buffalo or whole bison for slow-roasting still exist, carbon dated 40,000 years, of which at least 25,000 years they were in continuous use, same pit, twenty-five thousand years of cooking meat for the whole tribe, year in and year out, millennium in and millennium out. " ----- 100 million native americans did not eat the Atkins diet or anything like it - but the time period during which european colonizers arrived was during the Maunder Minimum - "The Little Ice Age". The description of diet in the Plymouth Plantation logs details natives eating about 3-12% meat, and the mainstays being corn, squash, and beans. That's in cold New England area. No bison whatsoever there, or in many many parts of the continent. 40,000 - 25,000 years ago is the last Ice Age. Yeah - during Ice Ages people in many areas were reduced to living on animal food as a major source. That ain't the Atkins diet or anything like it. -VonKrankenhaus -

Re: ----- "It's partly caffeine and sugar, but I honestly think it's the phosphoric acid that's the kicker for me." ----- Of course, these soda drinks come in aluminum cans. Phosphoric acid (or citric acid, etc) will cause micro-pitting of the can (and dissolve BPA/BPS coating, if any) and bring tiny particles of aluminum into solution. Aluminum is a neurotoxin. Dialysis Dementia was discovered, I think, a few years before most soda and beer cans were switched from steel to aluminum. ALCOA, the aluminum company, is a/the major sponsor of the Alzheimer's Association of America. All of this sort of thing has been going on for long time. In colonial america they had hard cider (alcohol, citric acid) served in Pewter (lead, tin) mugs. In Roman times, lead-lined water ducts. They debate about mercury in vaccines, whether or not it is harmful - but the novel Don Quixote, written in the 1600's, details early in the story how quicksilver (mercury) was routinely put in donkey's ears to make them more docile. -VonKrankenhaus -

Re: ----- "Blanket pronouncements about the benfitis/risks of particular diets tend to leave out the very important "for whom" part of the equation. Ketogenic diets are very harmful for some, ideal for others." ----- Could you tell us who would do best on a starvation diet where they were eating their own fat and muscles for decades? Can you post an example of someone living in a state of muscle/fat ketosis who has been doing that for more than a few years? How about the "Atkins Diet" - know anyone who has done that for any significant number of years? -VonKrankenhaus PS: I drank a Pepsi in 1968. Never again. -
Living in forests, I rarely saw people. Seems like the majority of people live quite nearby to the stores and businesses they are dependent on and from which they purchase their life. Living as a beggar with nothing in the midst of "society", nobody tried to stop me. Living as a beggar with nothing in the forest, I was wealthy beyond compare. Living as a wage beggar trading life for money - this is sold to people as a way to "succeed". At what? -VonKrankenhaus

Ketogenic diets that feature animal meat and fats are not healthy, although they will certainly cause weight loss in modern people. That's not "paleo" so much as an "ice age diet". Ketosis is not overall a normal state of metabolism. Rather, it is a state induced by starvation and hypoglycemia. Weight loss people have correctly associated that this will burn fat and even muscle - just like a starving person. Starving can curb acquired diabetes, but eventually the process of re-digesting themselves becomes a toxic state. Did you ever hear the story of those explorers that ate starving sled dogs? They died. If you are a cannibal, do avoid eating "paleo" dieters. -VonKrankenhaus -
Re: ----- "The U.S. Is just a more violent place, if you aren't getting shot then you would probably be knifed instead. It's not the guns but the people." ----- People generally do and accept what they are most familiar with. That's why mainstream entertainment products (movies, books, news, games, etc) are literally saturated in violence and competition. We've probably all seen articles showing how many murders a child watches on TV (or other media) per hour or day. Hatred and vengeance are major themes. Celebrities became celebrities by portraying effective violence and domination. It's media programming. Of people. People becoming what they're shown. Children learn by imitation, and learn what to accept by watching what others accept. -VonKrankenhaus

Are there any parallels between taoist healing sounds and kotodama sounds?
vonkrankenhaus replied to Oneironaut's topic in Daoist Discussion
Healing sounds is just the sounds that vibrate various organs, like massaging the organs with resonant vibration, with the correspondences derived from 5 phases (what some call 5 "elements"). Kotodama is not just this, but is more related to meditaion practices than physiological tonification. Kotodama is looking at the way vibration brings the World into existence in consciousness. Sounds made by human are vibrating the head in various ways. When we make them, we alter our images, which is our world, by vibrating the mid-brain. This is where the Pineal Gland is. The Pineal Gland is involved with how we create our images. Kotodama is speaking or singing the world into existence, making it visible and tangible where it had, before the sound, seemed "invisible". -VonKrankenhaus -
Re: ----- "Obviously all beings have to work and struggle in one way or another... which is a universal given for all forms of beings." ----- I understand this concept - but is it really true? Are all beings really working and struggling to survive? Does anything in Nature actually understand our ideas of work and struggle at all? Are chemical reactions all working and struggling to happen? Is the Earth working and struggling to circle the Sun? Are birds actually working and struggling as they fly overhead? ----- "Also thinking that we can just turn off the radio or TV and forget about certain forces will only keep them "out of mind" until the day they are knocking on our door and then blowing the hell out our private lives." ----- So this would be the "forces" of greed, manipulations, and so forth? Same way, maybe these "forces" are the ones that conquered huge areas and subjugated them, divided them, and sells them? Seems more like it was just people who believe in such forces who did that. -VonKrankenhaus

Re: ----- ",,,anyone can do what they want to do and then maybe land in the slammer, see their kids in custody of the state and maybe themselves standing in the soup lines at the local holy roller missions... but in a way I agree with you, although such an idea taken out of context of worldly needs and issues and certain other things that have to be dealt with realistically is something a person with no commitment's or responsibilities does - aka a slacker who is often living on or off someone else's dime." ----- So this look like if someone does what they want to do, the State will actually force their compliance? And might "worldly needs and issues" actually be the needs and issues of the State? Like maybe the need to have compliant citizens who believe in their responsibility to the State? Because the actual "World" isn't like that. The first breath we took - did we pay for that? The World is giving all life for free. It's not even like Life is on sale or at a discount - the World is functioning totally bereft of any financial concern. So this is really the result of extensive Mind Control, and the adoption of "non-worldly" or "un-worldly" prompts in place of contact within the real World. It's a false world of ideas and concepts, a conjob, and a loss for all Life. -VonKrankenhaus

Vitamin D is not a dietary substance, but a hormone we make in the skin and liver in response to sun exposure. The diet of Northern people is very high in animal fats, which contain the vitamin D the animal synthesized from sun exposure. Telepathic communication with animals and nature.
vonkrankenhaus replied to Oneironaut's topic in Daoist Discussion
One way of achieving telepathic communication with animals and nature is to harmonize with these rather than abstracting oneself from natural order in the manner of the modern era. This involves living with animals in nature. Which means living in and eating the same natural environment as animals and everything there. When a human being moves into a natural area and is living there, much changes. New plants appear. Burn a fire, and fireweed will arrive. Cut the ground and dandilions and many other plants will appear. Human excretions on the soil will change it, and other plants will arrive. Local animals like deer, or turkeys, will come around. Hawks will circle overhead. You live with them and you start to understand, and so do they. All of these things, in fact, the whole natural environment, is in communication with the human being. The only issue with this is that one has to be there for this to happen. -VonKrankenhaus -

vonkrankenhaus replied to Thunder_Gooch's topic in Healthy Bums
It's fun to see all these plants being recognized these days. People had ignored such natural things for a long time in favor of scientific/industrial products. My prior experience is people knowing more about plastic santa heads than just about anything outside. But now it seems most of those people have cancer. So the plants are the new thing, the best products, the magic bullets. It's a little crazy, but it looks like a good trend. Someone might eventually discover the whole world, and nature, and start wondering,,, -VonKrankenhaus -
Re: ----- "Neidan is internal alchemy- so it should bring evident and discernable reactions such as "siddhis" or 'abilities above the human standard'" "If it does not, then it is in the same grouping as QiGong" ----- I'm not so sure about these statements. For example, many abilities can be attained from things like Iron Shirt type qigong that could fit the concept of "abilities above the human standard". I do not believe the qigong I learned is "better" than any other, so this must be true everywhere. And, in neigong we are moving towards a form of growth that is reaching into non-human, or ex-human - so the whole comparison falls apart. The completed spirit body is an ex-human (and, eventually, "cosmic") entity if attained through neigong or other human endeavors on Earth. At this point, we are actually uncovering the methods of true space travel, without tin cans. Actually, I should stop here. Because it is obvious that this is not really a "For Dummies" topic in the modern era. -VonKrankenhaus

Re: ----- "I tend to doubt each hamburger would cost $200" ----- That info, and much more, is also in this book: http://www.amazon.com/The-Food-Revolution-Your-World/dp/1573244872 ----- "As we age we don't need as much protein as we did when we were young and our body and especially our muscles were growing. It is also suggested that we need lots of protein while our brain is developing." ----- Too much protein is harmful to the brain and nervous system. That's why "nutritionists" had previously recommended that americans should eat about 3 times as much of it as they actually needed. Between the ammonia wastes produced, and the issue of the body recognizing and denaturing and eliminating proteins assembled by some other species, this has been producing all kinds of mental impairments as well as lesions - dead spots. What are tumors made of? Protein excess. -VonKrankenhaus -
Re: ----- "Everybody has convinced me that milk has loads of calcium which makes stronger bones and I'm still buying into it." ----- The US has had the highest dairy consumption in the world,,, ,,, and the highest incidence of osteoporosis. "Milk" is a form of blood, given from a mother animal as the "exact formula" to create and grow an animal of that species. Is that what you wish to become? Of course, if the transformation to another species doesn't fully "work", then there is the problem of getting rid of the "un-used" material - as the mucus, cysts, and tumors that pathologists see when they do autopsies on the dietary adventurers of the modern era. -VonKrankenhaus

The elephant in the room is Industry. These people who put this all in place were Industrious. By abstraction and greed (and many other trained thinking defects) they have gone out of balance from Natural Order. Their "science" has been an relativistic exploration of profit and efficiency, not reality and truth, and it is strange that for so much work they have produced very little knowledge of Natural Order at all. Human being will not control Nature or change it. But if we surrender unto it, we have so much opportunity to discover what Natural Order is, and what is our place in this Natural Order. That will answer the issue of "what" and "how" to eat. It will not be "our" answer. All that is over, clearly seen now as vanity and folly as we see photo and video scenes of pollution and biological destruction from all over the World. It will be an answer from Nature. As we are part of Nature, we are part of this answer. And really, this is Taoism too - how to apply it. Also - never forget - we are what we ate. There is not one cell in our body not made of "food". The eyes that see this, the brain that organizes it - made of this "food". That is the process that has been taken over by Industry - the production of manageable and partial human beings. That is what all the industrialized destruction was in trade for, and not merely the relative profits gained by all the little pirates who gained the concession for their part of it all. Without government subsidies, for example, a McDonald's hamburger would cost around $200. -VonKrankenhaus -
Do you connect the chakras with enlightenment?
vonkrankenhaus replied to MooNiNite's topic in General Discussion
We might "work on" our chakras - such as removing and clearing body hardness and energetic blockages. Maybe we develop better energy flow through body as we do. So, maybe hormonal functions start improving. And digestion, and many other functions. But what is "enlightenment"? I tend to think it suggests removing weight, becoming lighter, moving upwards, less dense, etc, etc. So, on Earth surface between Heaven and Earth, horizontally, we may be "on one level" - with people, things, ideas,,,. When we "get over" these, and "rise above" (vertically) them, we say this was due to "enlightenment". Is it the functioning of our chakras that allows us to "get over" our situations and illusions? Or, is it our perception, intelligence and discernment? Of course, these are related in some ways and not so much in other ways, and here I am just trying to suggest how/what they are, such that an "answer" to the OP could be: "yes, and no". -VonKrankenhaus -
This animal colostrum is usually the perfect thing to assist the development and immune system of a goat/sheep/bovine animal. Wherever these animals are from, that is the environment the colostrum will help the animals to adapt in. Human being has a very different growth and immune system. This seems like it would go like it does with cow milk - the milk/proteins and "brain fats" of another species are only partially assimilable, and what is left can aggregate and start growing some sort of hybrid cells/tissue under the "right" conditions. The growth factors are there to produce bovine growth,, not human growth. Human colostrum would be better, but that would be an influence toward reversion for an adult. Towards becoming a "baby". -VonKrankenhaus

Are there such meridians in our body ?
vonkrankenhaus replied to nine tailed fox's topic in General Discussion
These "channels" are a conceptualization of the force of Heaven and the force of Earth as these flow through and interact within the body. This is not "acupuncture meridians". We could call this conceptualization the "central channel". It is not strictly the governing and conception vessels. But the functions of these are quite related. It is conceptualized as a "straight line" through the body from the crown, but the straightness of the line merely stand for the size and direction of these two major forces creating the body. This idea is seen in Japanese Do-In (Tao Yin) and Macrobiotics, etc. -VonKrankenhaus
