  1. Why is enlightenment a mystery?

thank you for explaining again... my head is fuzzy
  2. Why is enlightenment a mystery?

well, I did sort of know that, but the suggestion that we can ' alter' gravity was not linked to that notion. eh, does this suggest that, theoretically (in the theory of modern science I mean) this is possible? ( even when not, it's a cute picture )
  3. the verdict

hah, I read the OP as an answer on the guilt-trips that many people are riding. In that case not guilty is a refreshing notion,
  4. Why is enlightenment a mystery?

nice thread 'I' am not about enlightenment, well, I suppose it is as telling a child about orgasm, words will never convey the experience, but they hint that there is an experience to be experienced, but only after you've grown up a bit
  5. Zhan Zhuang - Leg/Low back meridians - advice

well, I do not really feel qualified, but also recognize some things,so regard this as my tuppence. if you're selfdiagnosis of chiblockage ( instead of a ' real' sciatica) is right. Then you may consider to ride your horse a bit thinner and higher up, so as to lessen the pain and prolong the standing. Blocks like that have to be washed away like water erodes stones, slow and gentle. You cannot hammer them away... be gentle with your body Vocalizing can be a lot of things, from grunting or screaming to real vocalizing , making ah, or oh etc. sounds. making the pain and shaking a little less may help you to focus on the sounds you make and go along with them. Blowing may also help, like a child blowing out a candle. after standing I would advise some shaking, but more specified: you stand firmly on one leg and lean with the corresponding hand to a wall or something. Then you shake out the other leg, toes upward, leg a bit backwards, leg straight but loose. Then just shakeout from the hip. Some people like visualizing that bad chi leaves the body that way, but there's not really need to do that, it works anyway. This you repeat three times for each leg. When you finish you should feel the feet being nice and warm and the legs like eh... warm and loosened up. when it works you might become aware of moving pain in your legs, if that happens do not worry but do the leg shaking some more. Might take some time reading your story. you may also try stretching lying down. You need a big bed (or a soft floor) for it. you lie down, the legs just a little apart, feet with toes pointing upwards, the arms raised above the head. no pillow, so that the chin will naturally become a little tucked in. then you stretch. Hands in 'sitting posture' , bend back at the wrists) First the whole body. then only the right ( or left) side and vice versa) slowly build it up. You can easily overstretch yourself that way ouch...) keep up the stretch act for about 5 minutes, after that you lower the arms, lay them beside your body, slightly apart from the body, palms up and relax, you can also go on meditating then, by just bringing awareness on dantien. But keep the relaxing up for say at least 15 minutes, better half an hour. In general for the kind of pain you describe my teacher advises people to regularly lay down, flat on the back for half an hour. that gives the tissue/fluids between the bones the chance to recuperate, to restore the balance. Love Bes oh, and keep looking for professional help, maybe it'll come onto your path now that you've taken real action and another one, how is your posture in daily life, more specific, when you walk/ stand are the toes straight or looking outwards/inwards.

I'm outdated too, and the things I write here I do not want to write on facebook ( thanks Mandrake!)
  10. Can qi be felt by anyone?

yes, Chi is real, but to become aware of it being sort of empty, making space for it is needed, I do not read the arrogance you see in Brian's post. but he is blunt, it's the same bluntness I appreciate in my teacher. Just saying how it is. Sometimes the world mirrors your own emotions. And practice, I've been bedridden for months and am still very weak, but i do practice. meditation can be done lying down, even some playing with chi can be done laying down. i cannot do my standing posture for an hour as i like, but i can do standing posture for 5 minutes, and repeat that over the day. In my country we have a saying: those who want find a way, those who do not want find excuses. and this is the story of the teacup http://bengtwendel.com/your-teacup-is-full-empty-your-cup/ love Bes

thank you TI, for sharing, Bes
  13. Nei Dan (alchemy) and the MCO

I've no knowledge of different systems, can only talk from personal experience. i'm taught only gentle awareness on the LDT ( starting with: bring your awareness to the underbelly) after some time my teacher told me about the MCO, I had never heard of it before. A few days after that it opened, felt like rushing water in an empty riverbed. I was happy he forewarned me... Only after the MCO opened i became aware of the dantien as a dantien, a sort of ongoing process Bes
  14. Did Humans live longer 10000 years ago?

well, personally I see he explosion of humankind as a race as catastrophic for mother earth. we're far exceeding what she can give us and that's the road to destruction or severe diminishing of the human race. regarding wiki, i do not really doubt the graph presented, but these are means. in our current age, the risk of dying very young ( under 5) has diminished greatly (at least in the west). The risk of dying of childbirth (for the females) and of being killed by your prey (probably mainly for males) has also diminished ( although males seem to make up somewhat for that by engaging in risky behaviors, boys will be boys ) so this clearly heightens the mean age. but when looking at older times, i can very well imagine that when you got past those precarious first years, after that surviving the birth of several children/ series of dangerous hunts/ years of drought and hunger/ years of raging sickness...if you survived to say about 40, that this select group could very well live to become a 100 or more in a very good health. so the means presented in the wiki page is (to me) not incompatible with the idea of living to be very old in older times, but only for a select group of inherently healthy and lucky people.
  15. Can Tai Chi Be Practiced In a Wheelchair?

seems like your doing quite thorough research, but, imho, even though doing chigong while sitting or lying down is not a problem, doing it with a full head is an impediment. Not to say you should not read those books, but forget about them when you start doing your practices love Bes

  17. What happens when we die

Marble said: You have to broaden your perspective a bit. You rotate their days off. Most are working doing your bidding while those taking the day off will be available for your pleasure. ah, thank you, but I would like to have some less, coordinating that many guys would be a job into itself.. Good point. The Bible speaks to the men. The writers of the Bible already knew that the women wouldn't listen to them anyhow. lessdaomorebum said: still, we've gotten to the point were most women gather shoes instead of ' husbands' seems alike unhealthy situation to me, now how did that come about?
  18. What happens when we die

I do not agree with the notion that most societies are matriarchal, but i do agree with your description of how many women treat sex as a way of controlling men. sex is meant for happy bodily sharing, and if it does not give that there is something wrong.
  19. What happens when we die

the same goes for guys, when you're somewhat older you just have to find one that suits you...
  20. What happens when we die

SOL? ( i'm not native english mister) and I would not want young studs, I prefer experienced hands. 76 seems a bit too much, unless it's just the pool I can pick from this reminds me of the bible, in the ten commandments it says that you guys should not even look longingly at another female than your married wife. Not a word about wives her, so that means we are allowed to do some fence-hopping without being turned into sinners. Or do I get that wrong? I'm not raised a christian you see, so i sometimes have some troubles interpreting those texts.
  21. why fear enlightenment since it's inevitable?

that is a nice metaphor, going further on that, when there is a real gale outthere, you can fall off that cliff even being unaware that there was a cliff. (afterwards clambering back to 'safety' , but with the memory clear in your system)
  22. Can Tai Chi Be Practiced In a Wheelchair?

one of the senior students of my teacher started out with juvenile reumatics and psoriasis. He never told me but when I see how he is walking now i'm sure he started his adventure walking with crutches, maybe even a wheelchair. Psoriasis is gone, his walking is clearly somewhat strained but he has no need for crutches, can walk a normal distance and rides a bike. I would advise you to find a teacher with a strong healing capability, teacher like that are like the sun for a cold body Give it a real try and keep up your hope for improvement, love Bes
