  1. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

I come from a multicultural family, lived most of my life outside of the US culture, now living in within a culture I've adopted from early on in life,,,"it fits" Thanks for the book recommendation, I think I'll pass. I don't expect other cultures to align with my expectations having the life experience that allows me to do so. Women often are the ones who benefit the most from the adoption of what what some call western culture outside of their own traditional culture whether this is a good thing or not remains to be seen. "the women who had encountered volunteers for brief periods were the ones who actively wanted change since they were the ones who wished to provide better lives and futures as they often were in the managerial roles of the family while the men took the decision making roles." quite common, which a video clip I posted outlined some rational as to why this is so....not going to repost it....its in the thread for those interested.

Not going to answer my question,,are you...expected...Instead of quoting others you'd be better served by just saying whats on your mind. my days are always good,,,,says me later
  3. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

And I highly suggest if you dont like people questioning what you write t might not be a good idea to post it. You do write a lot but dont say much.... You could have explained yourself a little better, but it seems like you do like your writing....have at it... " I would have been unable to understand how to serve the community since the men seemed fairly content with things as they are even amidst food security, malaria, sexual health issues, and sanitation and hygiene. " Ok lets try again...why were the "men" content according to you....

  7. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

" "Reads like a very condescending view point, you expected the men to do what? Maybe in their eyes you you did not meet the requirements to be considered a man..... " ad hominem attacks mind you do not fit the rules and regulations to be a member here. " Wow a simple statement is considered an attack. It was not an attack, it was a statement based on the information provided. They ignored you, did not offer any information, and according to you were satisfied with the way things were, and answered the woman with yes and no... ya ok got it
  8. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

good, maybe you can find a safe space. The point is you've made some assumptions from what seems to be a very different viewpoint not supported by history or human experience. I question them,,,you may or not be a good person.
  9. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

You start out with not being able to distinctly identify who was really in charge and yet assume because you were allowed to interact with the women they were. odd how evening living with them seems like you failed to understand the roles they played in their culture assuming who had the authority. Maybe the men did not interact with you because they did not consider you a man in their eyes...and allowed the woman to interact with you. "the men seemed fairly content with things as they are even amidst food security, malaria, sexual health issues, and sanitation and hygiene. " Reads like a very condescending view point, you expected the men to do what? Maybe in their eyes you you did not meet the requirements to be considered a man.....
  10. What happened to the Matriarchal Cultures

wow, seems like a very disconnected view point. A different viewpoint for contrast in a modern setting...
  11. Why Kung Fu masters refuse to teach

a historical out look a good blog that touches on some of the post here presented from a historical perspective https://chinesemartialstudies.com/2013/01/07/lives-of-the-chinese-martial-artists-4-sun-lutang-and-the-invention-of-the-traditional-chinese-martial-arts-part-i/ "For the martial arts to succeed in the 20th century they would need to transition. They had to be made appealing to increasingly educated and modern middle-class individuals living in urban areas. It would be hard to imagine a group more different from the rural farm youths that had traditionally practiced these arts. But this is the task that the early martial reformers of the 20th century dedicated themselves too." "A number or reformers during this period concluded that for the martial arts to survive they had to become more appealing to educated middle class individuals. Sun’s emphasis on health and self-cultivation was one way of accomplishing this goal. The Jingwu strategy of offering classes on photography or western sports was another. This period of time is also important for the development of the five modern styles of Taiji, including Sun Lutang’s own offering that combines the essential insights of Taiji, Xingyi and Bagua." "But sometimes individuals teach for other reasons. A friend of mine in Chengdu has been interviewing local martial arts masters. One of the interesting (and sad) things that emerged from these interviews is that with the current contraction of interest in the martial arts, there are not enough students to go around. There are a lot of individuals with a lifetime of skills who wish to pass something on, but they just can’t find anyone who is interested in learning. It seems that teachers need students as much as students need teachers. At its most basic level what we are discussing is a profoundly human relationship."

  13. Dantiens and Chakras - the same or different?

completely agree not something that should be attempted with out guidance. "In 1981, Harvard Medical School researcher Herbert Benson traveled to Tibet to meet with three Buddhist monks expertly trained in a form of yoga named g-tummo, a practice that is popularly associated with the ability to warm your body temperature through concentration. His academic interest in the practice lies in his research focus on “mind body medicine”, described in his official biography:https://www.snopes.com/harvard-study-confirms-tibetan-monks-can-raise-body-temperature-with-their-minds/ "Since meditative practices are associated with changes that are consistent with decreased activity of the sympathetic nervous system1–7, it is conceivable that measurable body temperature changes accompany advanced meditative states. With the help of H.H. the Dalai Lama, we have investigated such a possibility on three practitioners of the advanced Tibetan Buddhist meditational practice known as g Tum-mo (heat) yoga living in Upper Dharamsala, India. We report here that in a study performed there in February 1981, we found that these subjects exhibited the capacity to increase the temperature of their fingers and toes by as much as 8.3°C."https://www.nature.com/articles/295234a0

  15. Dantiens and Chakras - the same or different?

an article covering some of the questions http://www.ichikung.com/html/dantians.php "Although the chakra systems are more significant in the Buddhist and Yogic traditions, both of these spiritual disciplines commonly refer to the Three Dantians areas in their energetic practice. According to ancient Buddhist and Yogic traditions, these three areas contain the three psychic knots or "Granthi" where an individual's energy and spiritual consciousness interact and manifest in particular ways." Some might find the information useful...

  17. Dantiens and Chakras - the same or different?

What does this mean "to physically burn flesh" who's flesh, how was the "energy" moved with out damaging the system that moved it and yet still having an effect on the "the soft substance consisting of muscle and fat that is found between the skin and bones of a human or an animal" ie "flesh" was this an objective or subjective observation
  18. Dantiens and Chakras - the same or different?

up date from the same site..missed it in my first reading "Huiyin (Meeting of the Yin): The lowest point of the Lower Dantian extends to the Huiyin CV-l point at the perineum. This point is located midway between the genitals (anterior Yin or Qianyin) and anus (posterior Yin or Houyin), traditionally known as the "Huiyin." The name "Huiyin" refers to the area on the body responsible for gathering and absorbing the Earth energy. This area is responsible for gathering the Yin energy into the body and Lower Dantian area via the three Yin leg channels (Liver, Spleen, and Kidney), and is the intersecting point for the Governing Vessel, Conception Vessel and Thrusting Vessels. This area is sometimes known as the lower gate of the Taiji Pole, or the bottom gate of the Lower Chakra" http://www.ichikung.com/html/dantians.php I still hold that one should have a firm grasp of what ever practice they follow before comparing with other practices..
  19. Chakra and Dan Tian

"The Lower Dantian is the Dantian most familiar to martial artists and meditators, as it is the first place on which they are trained to focus their concentration. It is regarded as the center of physical strength and the source of stamina. Called the "hara" in Japanese, it is located in the lower abdomen, in the center of the triangle formed by drawing a line between the navel, Mingmen (lower back), and perineum. These three points form a pyramid facing downward. This configuration allows the Lower Dantian to gather the energy from the Earth." http://www.ichikung.com/html/dantians.php might help to explain the dan tain in more detail according to TCM and IMA practices it should help to clear up what a dan tian is in TCM and help the OP to answer the questioned posed "Is there any relationship between Chakras and Dan Tians" Off hand I would say they describe 2 different ways of looking at something coming from different cultures. Both ways seem to be very involved, I would wonder about the benefits of comparing them or trying to use one way to understand the other with out being well versed in either one...
