taken at a temple I often go to practice CMA at. "Considering that the Thousand-Armed Kannon has one thousand arms on its one body, if the mind stops at the one holding a bow, the other nine hundred and ninety-nine will be useless.2 It is because the mind is not detained at one place that all the arms are useful." http://www.alexandrosmarinos.com/TheUnfetteredMind.pdf

I met this teacher a long while back...Very interesting style "Zhang Wei Dong's master, Teacher Qiao was in is early eighties in this video. His stances are not low, but you can still feel his skill. "Dabei Zhou" is the Mandarin name for the Buddhist Compassion Sutra. "Dabei Quan" is the physical practice of that mantra. This is not a style of Taiji ... nor of yoga ... but something unique in between. This is also commonly called "Shaolin Dabei Tuoluo Ni Quan". The movements are said to have come from the static movements of buddhist guardian deities linked together. ." Yoga student and Wu Style Taijiquan Champion Wang Chun Ming learning Dabeiquan. Filmed at BLCU (Beijing, China) Spring 2009. The physical practice of the Buddhist Great Compassion Mantra. Dabeiquan is not Taiji ... nor Yoga ... But something unique and in between. This practice travelled from India to China between 400-600AD. After the 13th Century Dabeiquan faded from common view. Most current practitioners trace their lineage back to the Shaolin Temple system. Hence, the strong wushu flavor of most modern Dabeiquan."

"DaBeiQuan (“Great Compassion Fist”) began in Beijing in the early 20th century. After a personal tragedy, the buddhist monk QiYun turned to the teachings of the Great Compassion Mantra ("DaBei Zhou"). A spoken ritual, QiYun repeated it many times during dedicated practice until he recovered. He then named this unique style after the text that helped him through this difficult time." I read some place that the postures where copied from buddhist guardian deities and linked together forming the style. http://flyingtortoiseacademy.com/artform/dabeiquan https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nīlakaṇṭha_Dhāraṇī Had I not stumbled into taiji, this is something that I think I would have pursued a close friend of mine practiced the style and introduced me to her teacher .the one I mentioned in the earlier post. On this site with many into buddhist and doaist practices I felt it might be something that might add or help them in their own practices. For me this practice is very honest and straightforward, not really subjected to some of the things that plague taiji. disclaimer: not affiliated with any of the sites or teachers I use for supportive information.other then ones I specifically have met or know of..

Interesting title, was wondering if your affiliated with this group

A lot of what I see them do reminds me of southern mantis which I believe the chin family might of had some contact with. all CMA is very interesting...styles develop according to need, and go with out a need. The question most should ask when choosing is, "what is the need" My own experience was with a kung fu bother of mine Roger Haygood. http://www.bambootemple.com/new-page-26.htm

slowed down 4x https://journeytoemptiness.com/2017/12/24/ripples-in-time/ Many questions arise when viewing demos of this nature. Often the suggestion is that its faked or the students have been conditioned to react by subtle cues from the teacher. A reasonable person might ask why? what would be the point? A better question might be: How is it done Why is it done Is it useful

some interesting comments. I thought I'd add this, an interesting study. "A Study Based on Biomechanics By Jie Gu, Ph. D, Abstract A wave is a disturbance that propagates through a medium. A physical wave is the mechanical motion of the medium. For instance, the shear and longitudinal waves. A chemical wave is the propaga-tion of chemical reaction, for instance, the stimulation state of body tissue, the secretion state of body fluid, and the hormone gener-ation state, etc. Biological wave is the orderly wave in organic body, such as the rhythmic movement of the cells. Physiological wave include physical, chemical, and biological waves." "This paper presents a new con-cept: intention wave; and identify that Qi (LA) in Taijiquan is the Jie Gu, Ph.D. is a Detroit engineer and has studied many aspects of Tai Chi Chuan over the years. intention wave. An intention wave is the creation and propagation of Physiological wave under the guid-ance of the mind. In this paper, using the concept of intention wave, we study the relationship and difference between the gas of breathing and the Qi in Taijiquan. We conclude that the gas of breathing is air; the Qi of Taijiquan ( tfRi.) is a wave; the air only gets into the lungs; Qi can travel to everywhere in a body. This paper study the functionalities for the force system and the Qi system in Taijiquan. We conclude that the force system is mainly for defense-offense. The Qi system is mainly for self-cultivation." An extract of the pdf... the study was interesting although I would say for some things, its best to approach it from ones own level. some times one can get lost in thinking they'er doing something when in reality they'er not. My sky rider, "scooter" parked next to a harley. Taiwan often noted as scooter heaven...they do have some bigger bikes/scooters here .
-
Seems someone has problems staying on topic but is afraid to open another thread about what they want to say..likes to inject their fears into other topics, why is that
-
why wonder, when you can look up the study...another one who seems to like others doing the work. making unsupported statements alluding to unsupported conclusions.

actually there is not. some understanding this move to other places which was what the OP noted "The geography of IQ In a global world with open borders There is a tendency of the 16% >120 IQ to immigrate to Developed country's and developed Townes " ;you and some others can talk about other things or talk about the topic. none of you seem to understand what IQ means, how its tested, and how it affects cultures.
-
Why ask for what you can find. " Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission. “Do Asians need higher test scores? Is it harder for Asians to get into college? The answer is yes,” Lee says." http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-adv-asian-race-tutoring-20150222-story.html Kind of the problem isn't it, asking others to do what you could have done for your self.
-
You start a thread talking about IQ not understanding what it is or what test of it measure. Interesting.
-
but then there's this Notice its never applied to any type of sporting activity where one is measured on performance. Why is that? One could extrapolate this to cultures and countries that people want to move to "because"
-
Good you are satisfied with a fiction that your " limited intelligence" allows for. Be happy living in a un real world.
-
you do understand that in any "discussion" about IQ there will be those who seem to confuse intelligence aptitude with ability to put it to use. Lots of smart people making stupid decisions,. any discussion about higher IQ will naturally tend to look at race and culture.
-
Which might be true for some if only it was based on fact and studies like " The Worldwide Pattern of IQ Scores. East Asians average higher on IQ tests than Whites, both in the U. S. and in Asia, even though IQ tests were developed for use in the Euro-American culture. Around the world, the average IQ for East Asians centers around 106; for Whites, about 100; and for Blacks about 85 in the U.S. and 70 in sub-Saharan Africa." It should be noted that in gen Asian peoples always felt they were more intelligent then other peoples and labeled them as such "barbarians" This still goes on today,,if one lives in any Asian culture most will soon come to understand this. Interesting how physical traits influence it. "Brain Size Differences. Studies using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) find a correlation of brain size with IQ of about 0.40. Larger brains contain more neurons and synapses and process information faster. Race differences in brain size are present at birth. By adulthood, East Asians average 1 cubic inch more cranial capacity than Whites who average 5 cubic inches more than Blacks." https://www.news-medical.net/news/2005/04/26/Race-differences-in-average-IQ-are-largely-genetic.aspx Looks like size dose matter. The OP post "The geography of IQ In a global world with open borders There is a tendency of the 16% >120 IQ to immigrate to Developed country's and developed Townes ." Is predicated on IQ being an accepted fact and measurement,.. I always find it amusing when others berate, the cultures and peoples that brought forth much of the technologies that they use to berate them with to include laws and cultures,. all the while extolling the virtues of cultures or peoples that they do not live with or follow who have not. There is nothing stopping one from adopting the life style they believe in,.
