windwalker replied to Aetherous's topic in The Rabbit Hole
He talks about 6 steps now we have a step 7 step 7 allow the new president to get rid of the "losers" with a little time, step 7 will cancel out the other 6. -

We've had 8yrs of one approach, a bad one, one that never worked and couldn't work. There was 50 other Arab countries there. What message should one give them? Judging by the reception the President received the one they got was the one they've been waiting to hear.... -

Quite, that is all. So pray tell what promises would you have him live up to in only a little over 100 days in office? Did you ask the same of our last President of 8 yrs in office. Did he live up to his promises, was he a fucking joke too. A fucking joke,,,,such language considering no one is laughing now. Import people from a war, and some how don't expect to import the war.... carry on, -

What will happen and is being talked about is that those who go there to join with them will not be allowed to comeback to where ever they came from. This is a big worry with a lot of the foreign losers coming back after they figure out that maybe having others that can shoot back at them is not all its made out to be. The other thing that will put a quick stop to this is making the families responsible with possible reparation of the family to countries of origin for recent refugees or immigrants . For local born citizen losers,,the family is held responsible for repayment of loses and damage... Hold accountable those in charge..one ofthe main cause of much of the current problems. They are failing in their basic responsibilities of the state or counties they serve. What is nice, is they are talking about eliminating them, not containing or reforming them or appeasement. about time, unfortunately maybe a little late for some.... In Japan if one decides to jump in fount of a train your family gets to pay for the clean up,,,,sounds sensible. -

Trump made the distinction very clear. It's one of Good and Evil something that all can see and decide for themselves. Those who are evil are losers, the solution is very simple. They got to go. How and what is done is really a matter of will. Once a Tipping Point is reached I'm sure many will find the will to do the right thing -

This was written long ago addressing things that occurred then, and now. I hope in reading it some might find their own answers, and view recent events in different light.

If someone was driving a race car and lost a race or crashed the car. Would we then say a car was no good or the driver had no skill. A Highly-skilled driver can win a race with a poorly designed car. The best car cannot make up for lack of skill from a poor driver.

I have yet to read anything that qualifies this guy has a Tai Chi Master. He may be just someone who studies taiji and teaches taiji but has not yet mastered it. The fact that he lost a match has nothing to do with taiji. Taiji is an understanding of principles based on the study of taiji. It would seem that this man's understanding of taiji is not quite what he feels it is.

There seems to be a confusion between method used, the one who uses it, and level of use. With CMA, this has been on going and long standing. The basic complaint that many voice is that what is trained is often not put to use when used as in boxing, judo, TKD or many other arts. CMA seem to hold a mystique for many that seems to force them some how to find examples of it in use, outside themselves. Something I never understand. Even if someday, somehow, someway, some CMA guy, manages to beat an MMA guy, boxer what ever in a very clear and distinctive way, The only thing that will happen will be that who ever the CMA guy beat skill sets will start to be questioned its a no win, either way....If he loses thats a given, if he wins the guy wasn't good enough...

I was there in the 70s in 2ID...the still had martial law at this time Studied under this teacher for while. http://www.oocities.org/mantiscave/parkchil.htm ..The Koreans take their MA very seriously. I also knew a guy who learned from the "(ì œ9보병사단), also known as White Horse (백마)" While he was in Vietnam during the war...yep not people one would want to mess around with.. Regarding the topic of the tread and the many other topics similar to it. The mind set is very different for the top guys.. They do engage with people just not in public matches...I feel what most people miss out on is that MMA/Sanda all tend to use the same things. Its more about prepping for the event that those who say they rep CMA that IMO dont seem to understand how to do....If your going to swim with sharks, you'd better make sure you can swim, and that your really a shark and not just think you are. . Most if not all Chinese arts rely on specialty concepts or ideas...The problem IMO that most often the guys that say they rep a certain style or system are really not the top guys and engage with people way above their own level...notice most if not all the CMA guys are listed as "master" while the MMA or Sanda guys are just listed as practitioners. ....The top guys wont do it,,,feeling its not needed...very different mind set.

The Korean SF guys put on some very cool demos....looks like he does teach Systema , interesting art.
-
I think he does what is called Systema ://www.russianmartialart.com/whatis.php "could be wrong" I wouldn't call it "internal" as in Chinese thought on the subject. Of the systema people I've talked with on line they are very emphatic that what they do is not based on Chinese thought or theory. Lived and worked in Korea for a while when it was under martial law many yrs ago, very pretty country, interesting people with their own martial culture.

How does this fit into http://www.itcca.it/peterlim/classic1.htm

Would anyone say after watching this that boxing was fake it didn't work, or that wrestling was fake it doesn't work. Two different approaches operating within their own constraints matched against "equals" in level of skill. To me this is the main factor in many things. In many of the matches presented the skill levels are hardly equal, the bad part IMO is that sometimes the one in the match does not seem to understand this until its to late.... I call this "honesty" with in ones self and understanding ones self...

Clips like these are kind of misleading. What most people talk about is people of equal skill sets. Which is the whole point of many CMA styles, to have or do something very unique and different that would give one the advantage. What is shown in the clip as someone who is very fast and strong working with those who are not, what happens when the tables are turned. If one does not understand the style they're working on or in or has not acquired the unique skill sets. They have lost any advantage that the style would or could confer to them. Not good.

MIA means missing in action. Which one will be if they try to attempt things that they do not have a sound base in or understand.
-
The Styles within the modern sport events are styles unto themselves. What is changing is the way that CMA is being marketed. The Clash is really between competing markets. With some instructors not understanding the market they're in. They attempt to bridge the gap with skill sets not suited for the market they're trying to bridge.
-
My point was that for me it has little impact on what I do or think...I don't allow it rent space in my mind...maybe others have more space to rent...
-
No I don't see the problem. For those seeking validation of what they do through others who compete in the sport venues they may never find it. For those claiming to validate their art through the sports venues there are and should be no excuses. I feel it's incumbent on each person to be clear about what they search for and to understand that what they find really lies within themselves. Being confused as this teacher found out and often be very painful For many they will claim that somehow this either proves or disproves what it said about taiji. And yet many know people whom they feel can make taiji work as they feel that should. One might ask how do they know
-
I do too but was not sure it would fit in with this thread. Happy you caught it maybe others can also enjoy it too.

Who made him a taiji master? is he your master or anyone here reading this, Is he their master? Or was he someone who said he practice taiji, a master to those who followed him? Do you follow him, is he reflective of other taiji people that you follow or know? On some of the Chinese sites he was very rude, its really not about the content of what he said, but the how and why he said it... In Taiwan there are many taiji teachers, some of them do not agree with the others, they all practice in the same parks many at the same time close to each other in their own area. They know who is who, and what is what, and allow the students coming to learn from them to select the teachers that best fit their ideas and understanding of what is taiji and what is not... The MMA guy was/is a marketer trying to make some money....Publicly in China he has been silenced can not access the net, all things about him will soon be gone...on the net. Privately , there are those who will find him and help him to understand taiji in a different way.....he forgot about the ocean he swam in,,,feeling he was a shark, he now has become shark bait, in time food.
-
That if ones practice depends on what happens in video of another's practice they might want to rethink what they'er really practicing for. Everyone has to find and answer their own questions...As to the other points, I feel it really depends on depth, level and reason for ones practice. If one intends to swim with the sharks, one should make sure they understand whether they'er a shark or shark food. https://journeytoemptiness.com/2017/05/10/beginnings/ This talks a little about how I answered my own questions

UFC Fighter Says He Will Defend Tai Chi
windwalker replied to Green Tiger's topic in General Discussion
Just wondering would you consider the following more fantasy then history. Having some knowledge of the style prompts my interest. Lots of CMA styles have origin stories some embellishments some fact.. A lot of the stories never list the challengers. This would be good to know to gauge the relative skill being used. Back in the day, the differences in style was often the deciding factor, as opposed to today's times were the fighters tend to use the same skill sets to varying degrees of skill. The events are also designed to minimize the differences in opponents, skill, size, weight ect in order to make the "contest" more fair not really something considered back in the day.
