2017 Year of the Fire Rooster - Please change logo

We would drive our dad batt shit crazy with all the animals we had in the back yard, mainly cause they would drop dropping around the back door.We converted the old outside toilet known as the dunny, into a pigeon cage, then we built a rabbit hutch with lots of white rabbits, one day we add a concrete pipe connected the hutch and the pigeon cage, sought of a slum zoo. We would walk miles, leaving one suburb, reaching outskirts which adjoined our local creek, there were a few places we knew,so as to cross safely, then reach the outskirts of the next suburb across even broader fields to reach several locals who had set up home based chicken sales. We nearly always bought a new rooster each time, usually about three or four dollars would get you a rooster. Sometimes the roosters we got were giant semi reptilian looking birds, other times we might get colourful or white or black ones. Then one day we bought a bantam, this bantam was a real winner a pure bred Rosecomb Bantam, pretty sure we named it,not to sure,I think we called it 'The Boss',We had pigeons called the boss, but this was the first rooster we called 'the boss'. We had several chicken which were never eaten, not until they were very old and stopped laying eggs, then they would be boiled and made into chicken soup.Mostly the roosters we kept them for a few weeks, then on a Saturday they would be prepared for Sunday lunch. No refrigerator,we used get those ice blocks that could last a week or so back then.So Saturday evening before dark job done. 'The Boss',as soon as we got him home just as we did with other roosters we threw him into the hen house, first he battled with the resident rooster all over in minutes then he strutted around for short while, then every chicken surrendered to him without fuss and just a few flutters of satisfaction. The Boss kept his title for many years, proudly strutting around surrounded by his harem. -
Sounds like new age snake oil. Has anyone reached 120 years old. Yeah more people make it to one hundred, very few live longer. The ones that do live longer, are they using mon atomic gold? Is there a tally somewhere that counts our rebirths, would we ever see or remember anything at all. Mon atomic may have health benefits, probably no better than garlic. Longevity sounds good, but as you grow old,you have attended so many funerals that one day you realise all your friends have expired. So you live your remaining years in a nursing home where you are carer for with TLC,even your food is vitalised, tasty. Curse that gold mono thing, what'sit called mom attic, mom Jurassic, bloody thing, atomic, keeping me alive.

Native Bison Buffalo roamed North America in unimaginable numbers. The sky's were once blackened by flocks of wild pigeons. Forests with trunks many metres across covered the desirable meadows. The seas changed colour with passing schools of fish. Our sky's and oceans once pristine and pure. Natives to the land were the only humans. Things changed for the planet as man began to think and within few hundred years, man mostly to blame, alright all to blame.(women only got the vote one hundred years ago,so not to blame,"thanks mum") Get more, get rich, cut it down, sell it,steam, coal, gas, petrol, electricity. More people, less space, grow more veggies, crops, shoot the buffalo and carrier pigeon,we want grow cows, sheep. Need somewhere to live, new estate, developer has clear it first, put in new road, gas, power, sewage, well in the western style first world. Surely the apocalypse is coming, get to prepping, cause " you want to be ready, yeah and we gunna be ready." The most inspiring article I have read about restoring the planet, http://video.nationalgeographic.com.au/video/news/160602-us-elwha-river-dam-removal-restoration-vin Humans, just hope we are as smart as we think we are,and kick a few more goals.

Looking for qigong for vision improvement (eye sight)
AussieTrees replied to Alchemistgeorge's topic in Daoist Discussion
The next door Hare Christina neighbors have moved on many years ago,but I do remember one story."When our guru visits sometimes for weeks we don't smoke aka(THC) anything at all.We just don't feel like anymore." I have witnessed such phenomena.'The Guru Effect.' Another good story was 50's gentleman who suffered from schizophrenia from about the age of 18yo. He would hallucinate constantly hearing voices or several voices, often of a derogatory themes. One day he told his veteran case manager that when he is,in his company,'"I don't hear the voices,I don't hallucinate." Some people are just so warm and full of goodness that they are a human treasure. -

Thanks again for the replies. Is there a beginner course online for qigong? I just want to try it out. I know there is a aikido class in my area, but I'm not sure it will work with my schedule. You could try ;http://www.qigonginstitute.org/docs/EightExtraordinaryMeridians-Qigong.pdf It's free and gives a history as well as some exercises. If tired rest, hungry eat, thirsty drink, moderation avoids extremes, fasting can also increase energy, abstaining from sexual practice is also energising. The above text to read and grasp some understanding should take a few weeks at least more likely years. Best wishes,we all live in the present moment. -
quote name="dust" So far your position is untenable. I hope you will provide evidence for your claims. Hi Dust, Position tenable,no pros or cons, that's just the way it is,growing meat or crops. Even in back yard veggie garden, there is need to protect plants from pests. Slug bait, rodent bait, insecticides,as well as herbicides are all common, farming has all these plus culling after land clearing. What evidence would you like? Can you not see for yourself? "If we,or hope we all become vegetarians",doesn't change anything, even the refugee Tibetan farmers relocating to India after fleeing Tibet had to come to terms with, being the cause of land clearing and burning the remnant native vegetation along what remained of the native flora and fauna, when establishing their new homes and gardens.

If crops (vegetarian food) are to be grown, then at some point natural bushland needs to be cleared of trees and all vegetation, burning after bulldozing scrubland is common, killing everything native plants and animals, insects, all the way down to the microflora and micro fauna. Native habitat is lost,no more nesting birds nothing but vegetarian food crops, rarely are these areas restored to a native habitat. Then they spray, weedicide, herbicide, further polluting and corrupting the environment, even out to sea. Good crops need fertiliser, produced often by extracting nitrogen from natural gas. Good for crops, not so good for waterways of nature. Yeah I have eaten veggies diet, for about two years in mid twenties, reasoning was like yourself concern for animal welfare and environmental damage. The truth is, the realisation that food production of any sort it at a cost of displaced species and pollution to the environment. Where did we go wrong? We changed habits from hunter gathering to supermarket ease of getting food. We decided to grow animals that are good to eat instead of chasing them and capture/slaughter. Eat veggies that's a choice, but this does not protect the environment nor does it protect animals from abuse and loss of habitat. Duck season is approaching, rice farmers are inviting shooters to their properties for the annual cull. Culling,is killing animals mostly to prevent crop damage. Cull the galahs, cockatoos, kangaroos, wallabies, possums, rats and mice, feral pigs, goats, deer, rabbits, horses, donkeys, camels,as well as dogs, dingos and foxes, just cull them all. Cause we want to eat vegetarian food, and that will create the illusion of caring for animals and the environment. Hi all, We need to eat, farming produces food, not only for farmers, they feed many as well,so we can work in other fields. Does not matter what you eat, hunted, fished, slaughtered or grown, they all have cost in suffering and pollution. Cruelty is no promoted but it still happens. Pollution from modern farming is not our goal but it still happens. Be at peace with yourself and others. Enjoy whatever you eat it is essential for life. There are many problems to solve with the world experiencing the current population explosion. Man has become the pest species, invading and defiling all continents, mmm culling?

These are millet plants grown by accident as the seeds fell into cracks between rock paving and decided not to weed them, now provides food for birds, that hang off the stalks eating the seed. Still trying to get pictures, cause they always fly away on approach. Had to chop the pics to fit. -

Hi,yeah don't so many anymore. Always polite, cause just don't their circumstances. My reply is always the,ie'i decline your offer' 'Bye,hanging up'then hangup. Then there is this notice that has appeared twice on iPad. Something like. We are the Interpol police you have an Internet violation,on the spot fine.' Then gives details of how to pay via online. Tried everything, couldn't get rid of the notice. So dumped/ deleted chrome, then downloaded a latest version of chrome. Notice disappeared, hooray.

Survive? Many disasters have survivors, only seldom no survivors.

Quote Dust. I'm not a vegan -- one day, probably -- but I do agree with the basic arguments for veganism with regard to human health, environmental concerns, and unnecessary suffering of animals. Or, to look at it another way, I have not encountered a good argument against veganism. ("Derrrr bacon taste good!" is not a good argument; human bacon probably taste good too but nobody's arguing for that.) Hi Dust, If crops (vegetarian food) are to be grown, then at some point natural bushland needs to be cleared of trees and all vegetation, burning after bulldozing scrubland is common, killing everything native plants and animals, insects, all the way down to the microflora and micro fauna. There are many circumstances that are stuck at the extremes, good v bad, hate v love, light v dark. Many of these extremes can be altered to neutral, neutrality is the balance, seek neutrality. -
Just as there are many differing types of love, there are also many types of anger. For me,I learnt anger from dad,and he would be easy to trigger into a rage pretty much daily or he was always angry. So you learn because that's what kids do,deep down, you just want to survive.Seems as though everyone was angry when growing up.How times have changed,we now have zero tolerance to physical aggression. Don't remember when, came across a very small booklet with verses of chants, just speaking or pronunciation guide such chants, was the begining of my anger management. How is that even possible say a few words, results like tasting water when thirsty. What's chanting anyway,it's just talk, speech, well it seems some words and phrases are just magical, like a spell. So repeated daily almost constantly, anger washed from even my soul, replaced by caring concern and empathy. Tears flowed in gratitude,to be liberated from such demons,no triggers remain, unarmed man, even self defence is cautioned. Peace,no more rage not even of road variety, nor reprisal,no chip,no revenge, all poisons of anger. Anger clouds the vision, distorts the hearing, suspiciousness developes, the body suffers, the mind is unrelenting. There appears to be many paths leading to personal anger management, just choose one it will workout. Om namo shivaya Om namo naranaya

Hi Gerard, We listen for the kookaburra,we don't hear them everyday. But when you do hear them, you know rain is not far away. Maybe the longer the repertoire and the more often repeated, the more the downpour. More a weather announcement than a laugh.
