Welcome and I enjoyed that book as well.

There is only one. All others are more levels/layers of refinement or else it would be dualistic.

Working with higher level subtle beings and spirits
Jonesboy replied to Jetsun's topic in General Discussion
I found this interesting from Dzogchen, The Self Perfected State. Two things that jump out at me. One is that it is possible to receive transmissions or work with divine beings. Two, that what we see with for example 3rd eye sight is a translation of the local mind due to karmic vision. If it is pure there is no seeing. -
I see it kind of like this. If you are truly present you let go and go with the flow right? It is our obstructions (will/temptation) that keeps us caught up in our issues and far from realizing the Father or true clarity. A pretty common concept across all traditions isn't it?

Using wing chun principles with a knife or a baton?
Jonesboy replied to mewtwo's topic in General Discussion
It is really hard to learn real knife fighting skills from videos. Many systems hide their true teachings. Also, in thing to keep in mind is some styles are stick where others are blade focused. Dan Inosantoâs system Has really picked up more and more of balintawak which is a very close in system. It is also stick focused. I think it may be a system you will like with your background. If you are looking for a more blade based system look at a sld multi system that uses a 3 ranges. looking at the videos you can clearly see the differences in styles. -
I have found that surrendering or as I use the term letting go is very much a key part of the process. Amazing what one can realize if they can surrender and trust. Welcome and good luck on your journey.

Seems very heart based. All the best.

Group Energy Practice - The Dive - A Historical Teaching
Jonesboy posted a topic in General Discussion
From The Triadic Heart of Siva Abhinavagupta refers to this concept of the spiritual family (samtana) in the TA. because the notions of 'self and 'other' are equally imaginary, howsoever many become united with the teacher, he forms a single self with all of them and, as such, is called "perfected one" (siddha) and "liberated one." Abhinavagupta continues: The group that is constituted by the teacher, the teacher's wife, the brothers, and sons is not generated by a connection of blood, but rather a connection of consciousness. This larger consciousness-group is experienced during the group ritual. In a revealing passage Abhinavagupta says: Consciousness, which is composed of all things, enters into a state of contraction due to the differences generated by separate bodies, but it returns to a state of oneness, to a state of expansion, when all of its components are able to reflect back on each other. The totality of our own rays of consciousness are reflected back one on the other when, overflowing in the individual consciousness of all present as if in so many mirrors, and without any effort whatsoever in an intense fashion, it becomes universal. For this reason, when a group of people gather together during the performance of a dance or of song, etc., there will be true enjoyment when they are concentrated and immersed in the spectacle all together and not one by one. Consciousness which is overflowing with bliss, even when considered individually, attains in these spectacles a state of unity and, because of that, a state of full and perfect blissfulness. The absence of causes of contraction such as jealousy, hate, etc., allows consciousness in such moments fully to expand without obstacles in a fullness of bliss, but if even one of those present is not concentrated and absorbed, then consciousness remains offended as at the touch of a surface full of depressions and protuberances because he stands out there as a heterogeneous element. This is the reason why during the rites of adoration of the circle (cakra) one must remain attentive and not allow anyone to enter whose consciousness is in a dispersed state and not concentrated and absorbed, because he will be a source of contraction. In the practice of the circle (cakra) one must adore all the bodies of all those present because since they have all penetrated in the fullness of consciousness they are in reality as if they were our own body. If through some negligence a stranger succeeds in entering, the initiated ritual may proceed together with him provided that he does not enter in a state of contraction. Such a one, if divine grace falls upon him, will become concentrated and absorbed with the various rituals, but if he is struck by a sinister and malevolent power of the Lord, he will criticize the group. -
Group Energy Practice - The Dive - A Historical Teaching

Itâs kinda like just because you feel energy it doesnât mean everyone does. You have to be open to it. If someone comes in not believing, totally against the idea, practices, etc. chances are they wonât experience anything and will just disparage the practice because they feel nothing from it. Were against the idea to begin with. I have seen this a few times myself. -
The light isnât the full answer as Jesus mentions here. 50. Jesus said, "If they say to you, 'Where have you come from?' say to them, 'We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.' If they say to you, 'Is it you?' say, 'We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.' If they ask you, 'What is the evidence of your Father in you?' say to them, 'It is motion and rest.'" To get an understanding of what the light is, here is an amazing description from a truly great master Abhinavagupta. From the Triadic Heart of Siva The Heart of Siva The Heart, says Abhinavagupta, is the very Self of Siva, of Bhairava, and of the Devi, the Goddess who is inseparable from Siva. Indeed, the Heart is the site of their union (yamala), of their embrace (samghatta). This abode is pure consciousness (caitanya) as well as unlimited bliss (ananda). As consciousness the Heart is the unbounded, infinite light (prakasa) as well as the freedom (svatantrya) and spontaneity (vimarsa) of that light to appear in a multitude and variety of forms. The Heart, says Abhinavagupta, is the sacred fire-pit of Bhairava.1 The Heart is the Ultimate (anuttara) which is both utterly transcendent to (visvottirna) and yet totally immanent in (visvamaya) all created things. It is the ultimate essence (sara). Thus, the Heart embodies the paradoxical nature of Siva and is therefore a place of astonishment (camatkara), sheer wonder (vismaya), and ineffable mystery. The Heart is the fullness and unboundedness of Siva (purnatva), the plenum of being that overflows continuously into manifestation. At the same time, it is also an inconceivable emptiness (sunyatisunya).2 The Heart is the unbounded and universal Self (purnahanta). The Heart of Siva is not a static or inert absolute, however. In fact, the non-dual Kashmir Shaiva tradition considers it to be in a state of perpetual movement, a state of vibration (spanda)3 in which it is continuously contracting and expanding (samkoca-vikasa), opening and closing (unmesa-nimesa), trembling (ullasita), quivering (sphurita), throbbing, waving, and sparkling (ucchalata). The intensity and speed of this move ment is such that paradoxically it is simultaneously a perfect dynamic stillness.4 The tradition states that the Heart is the enormous ocean (ambunidhi), the ocean of light, the ocean of consciousness. The waters of consciousness that in man are broken by countless polarizing and divisive waves (urmi) may be easily brought to a state of dynamic stillness by the process of immersion or absorption (samdvesa) in the Heart. .

Group Energy Practice - The Dive - A Historical Teaching

Any thoughts or comments? How about when he mentions âbecause the notions of 'self and 'other' are equally imaginary, howsoever many become united with the teacher, he forms a single self with all of themâ. or âthe circle (cakra) one must adore all the bodies of all those present because since they have all penetrated in the fullness of consciousness they are in reality as if they were our own body.â -
The bible tells us what God is. God is the light and it is us as well. 1 John 1:5 5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. And to add to the concept of God is light. âLet no one deceive you! God is light (11) and to those who have entered into union with Him He imparts of His own brightness to the extent that they have been purified. When the lamp of the soul, that is the mind, has been kindled, then it knows that a divine fire has taken hold of it and inflamed it. How great a marvel! Man is united to God spiritually and physically, since the soul is not separated from the mind, neither the body from the soul⌠It is evident that just as the Father abides in His own Son (12) and the Son in His Fatherâs bosom (13) by nature, so those who have been born anew through the divine Spirit (14) and by His gift have become the brothers of Christ our God and sons of God and gods by adoption, by grace abide in God and God in them (15).â St Symeon The New Theologian And Messalianism Maybe the words of Jesus will help: John 10:23â38 23 Jesus was walking in the temple, hin the colonnade of Solomon. 24 So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, âHow long will you keep us in suspense? If you are ithe Christ, jtell us plainly.â 25 Jesus answered them, âI told you, and you do not believe. kThe works that I do lin my Fatherâs name bear witness about me, 26 but myou do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27 nMy sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 oI give them eternal life, and pthey will never perish, and qno one will [pluck] them out of my hand. 29 My Father, rwho has given them to me,1 sis greater than all, and no one is able to [pluck] them out of tthe Fatherâs hand. 30 uI and the Father are one.â 31 vThe Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, âI have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?â 33 The Jews answered him, âIt is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but wfor blasphemy, because you, being a man, xmake yourself God.â 34 Jesus answered them, âIs it not written in yyour Law, zâI said, you are godsâ? 35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God cameâand Scripture cannot be abrokenâ 36 do you say of him whom bthe Father consecrated and csent into the world, âYou are blaspheming,â because dI said, âI am the Son of Godâ? 37 eIf I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; 38 but if I do them, feven though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that gthe Father is in me and I am in the Father. http://biblia.com/bible/esv/Jn%2010.23-38 We are all children of the light and joint heirs. Romans 8:6-17 6For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:17And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. More from Saint Symeon on the topic. As we ascend to that which is more perfect, He who is without form or shape comes no longer without form or without shape. Nor does He cause His light to come to us and be present with us in silence. But how? He comes in a definite form indeed, though it is a divine one. Yet God does not show Himself in a particular pattern or likeness, but in simplicity, and takes the form of an incomprehensible, inaccessible, and formless light. We cannot possibly say or express more than this; still He appears clearly and is consciously known and clearly seen, though He is invisible. He sees and hears invisibly and, just as friend speaks to friend face to face (cf. Ex. 33:11), so He who by nature is God speaks to those whom by grace He has begotten as gods. He loves like a father, and in turn He is fervently loved by His sons. Quote n° 3433 : Saint Symeon the New Theologian , (949 - 1022), Christianity, Orthodoxy Source : The Discourses, p. 365, Trans. C.J. de Catanzaro. Ramsey, N.J.: Paulist Press, 1980. From a Kashmir Shaivism perspective you can think of it like this. We are One like Siva and the light is the Heart which is all things.

The flow is energy. One way of describing it is through increased levels of silence. The first thing people notice when they experience silence in daily life is The Witness. They are able to observe their thoughts. With increased silence one is able to notice those thoughts as continuous flows of energy. Our body isn't any different. As we progress we can feel energy flowing through us, in us, as us. Some from root to crown, others from crown to root, while others may notice it coming in from the heart and going whichever direction. Often times you hear the term "going with the flow". This is about going with what is or if you want to refer to the first description as thoughts as flows of energy. You can think of it as being those flows and when you stop going with the flows, with what is and get caught up. You get caught up back in thoughts, in issues and suffering. Just my take, Tom

Moving on, 72. A [person said] to him, "Tell my brothers to divide my father's possessions with me." He said to the person, "Mister, who made me a divider?" He turned to his disciples and said to them, "I'm not a divider, am I?"

Blessed are they⌠who have received Christ coming as light in the darkness {Jn 1:5,12}, for they are become sons of light and of day {1 Thes 5:5}. Blessed are they who even now have put on His light, for they are clothed already with the wedding garment. They will not be bound hand and foot, nor will they be cast into the everlasting fire⌠{cf Mt 22:11-13} Blessed are they who hourly taste of the ineffable light with the mouth of their intellect, for they shall walk "becomingly as in the day" [Rom 13:13], and spend all their time in rejoicing⌠Blessed are they who have kindled the light in their hearts even now and have kept it unquenched, for on their departing this life they shall go radiant to meet the Bridegroom, and go in with Him to the bridal chamber bearing their lamps⌠{cf Mt 25:1-13} Blessed are they who ever weep bitterly for their sins, for the light shall seize them and change the bitter into sweet {cf Mt 5:4}. Blessed are they who shine with the divine light and who see their own infirmity and understand the deformity of their soul's vesture, for they shall weep without failing and, but by the channels of their tears, be washed clean. Blessed are they who have drawn near the divine light and entered within it and become wholly light, having been mingled with it, for they have completely taken off their soiled vesture and shall weep bitter tears no more {cf Rom 13:12-14}. Blessed are they who see their own clothing shining as Christ, for they shall be filled hourly with joy inexpressible and shall weep tears of astounding sweetness, perceiving that they have become themselves already sons and co-participants of the resurrection. Blessed are they who have the eye of their intellect ever open and with prayer see the light and converse with it mouth to mouth, for they are of equal honor with the angels and, dare I say it, have and shall become higher than the angels, for the latter sing praises while the former intercede. And, if they have become and are ever becoming such while still living in the body and impeded by the corruption of the flesh, what shall they be after the Resurrection and after they have received that spiritual and incorruptible body? Certainly, they shall not be merely the equals of angels, but indeed like the angels' Master, as it is written: "But we know," he says, "that when He appears we shall be like Him" [1 Jn 3:2]. Blessed is that monk who is present before God in prayer and who sees Him and is seen by Him {cf Jn 14:21, Mt 5:8}, and perceives himself as having gone beyond the world and as being in God alone, and is unable to know whether he happens to be in the body or outside the body {2 Cor 12:2-3}, for he will hear "ineffable speech which it is not lawful for a man to utter" [2 Cor 12:4], and shall see "what no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived" [1 Cor 2:9]. Blessed is he who has seen the light of the world take form within himself, for he, having Christ as an embryo within {cf Gal 4:19}, shall be reckoned His mother, as He Himself Who does not lie has promised, saying: "Here are my mother and brothers and friends." Who? "Those who hear the word of God and do it" [Lk 8:2]. So those who do not keep His commandments deprive themselves voluntarily of so great a grace, because the thing was and is and will be possible, and has happened and happens and will happen for all who fulfill His ordinances. Quote n° 3429 : Saint Symeon the New Theologian , (949 - 1022), Christianity, Orthodoxy Source : On the Mystical Life : The Ethical Discourses. Trans. Alexander Golitzin. 61. Jesus said, "Two will recline on a couch; one will die, one will live." Salome said, "Who are you mister? You have climbed onto my couch and eaten from my table as if you are from someone." Jesus said to her, "I am the one who comes from what is whole. I was granted from the things of my Father." "I am your disciple." "For this reason I say, if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness."

Who say's the heavenly body can't be seen or touched? Kinda like Buddha's saying they can create multiple self's or grow as tall as a mountain. Same concept to me.

When itâs air we donât notice it. We only notice that which gets hit. It is both a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it.
