Any thoughts that an astral being is an energy being and a mind only being could be a Buddha/Immortal type being?
-
Seeing energy is not really important in our practice and we don't try to see someones energy field. To me that would be more astral and local mind stuff. More, I was interested in the descriptions of beings, being energy or mind only.

I found this interesting from the Norbu quote on Dzogchen Teachings. Any thoughts on a person being only energy or mind and being able to see them?
-
In my previous post I was going to talk about this but deleted it. Learning to reside in the energy of an upset, is the same type of residing. Residing doesn't change, it just get's deeper. I believe what he is saying is much like what I was saying here.

My view is different than Norbu's. Norbu would say do Shine with Object and then Shine without Object. The point of Shine without Object is to realize that movement. I never did Shine or a system of practices to realize what is being described. Feeling those flows happened when I went light. I had no idea what it was in a traditional sense. I just knew it was my thoughts. What is interesting is when one is caught up the flows can become like a raging river.. i.e get much stronger. Something that I also realized is that if I am feeling a thing, like those flows/movement that it was dualistic to me. So I started to reside in them, to just let go or rest in those flows. I would do that during conversations, when watching tv. as much as possible just residing, letting go and being those flows. I could start to be in an argument and reside in those flows and all my upsets, all that I was caught up in would go away. I didn't find this teaching about it till years later..

It is another step in realizing that everything is energy, in directly experiencing the energy and emptiness of thoughts. Being able to reside in that movement, issues are just gone or you could say self liberate. Clarity shines forth. Norbu, explains it like this. To get to that state of pure presence one must first realize that thoughts are energy and then be able to reside in that energy.
-
Yes, that is very nice. From the Norbu quote it is very important to understand what he means by movement. Eventually one can feel thoughts as movements of energy, as flows of energy, be they silent or not. The next step is to be in that movement.

Interesting stuff. Thank you.

Here is an interesting quote from Norbu on Tantra from the book Dzogchen Teachings.
-
You mean like with Dakini practices?
-
Thank you for the video. Do you mind sharing what the connection is like for you during and after the practice?
-
Until that view is truly realized they are doing.. lot's of being.. but still some doing. Maybe some doing to help that being be more often.. but still.. I believe in a perfect self nature. I also believe there is nothing wrong with connecting to a Buddha to help get one closer to that realization... Intent.. then it is a being..

I know one person, so it would have been interesting to compare.
-
Do you know anyone that can connect to the absolute aspect of another? If so, I would love to met them and observe/experiment with such a person if they were willing.
-
Thank you, I would love to see the teachings on it. It is amazing, we have been talking about merging for years and people have told us we are nuts... and now it seems it has always been part of Buddhist traditions.
-
I believe in the other thread it would be completely wrong to believe you are connecting to another being, since it is all within your mind. Maybe I am wrong. So to clarify. For you in Buddhism you can connect or become one/merge with a Buddha or a Guru?
-
Connecting to a guru is energy work. The ability to directly connect to the pure aspect of a person, bypassing all his/hers current obstructions is some very deep stuff. Being able to do so and if the guru doesn't feel such a connection is very telling. So you are saying in Buddhism, without even say having your crown open you can connect to the absolute aspect of anyone at any time?
-
I'm confused, were you not saying the opposite here? Edited for a better quote.. sorry.
-
Then one should have no fear of group energy work, because it is with the absolute of each other Here i thought earlier both the conventional and absolute were real?
-
Again, it is the Wisdom-mind, the absolute guru, not the being sitting in front of you.
-
Thank you CT but that still doesn't say you are connecting with another being who is providing assistance to realize those qualities within oneself.
-
What? We had pages where you said such a thing was not in Buddhism. Now, Buddhism does connect to a deity? I went years thinking that Buddhism did connect and did do mind to mind stuff. Yet, I was corrected and told that was wrong. Now they do again? Crazy how difficult it is to get a straight/definitive answer.. I have also seen people get laughed at for thinking such things at the dharmawheel..

It’s just a discussion on guru and connecting/merging with divine beings with Apech and CT.
