Darin congrats on taking Judo, for a taichi guy to take such a step - it's really impressive. Also somebody was complaining about having problems because training in external martial arts. Check out this guy and consider his age and his weight. 1ye5DC7sVTw

This is such a childish thread but it still brings up some interesting issues . My post was a direct response to vajrasatva's "reaction" geared against MMA as I've seen him do it before - and I have a totally different opinion. And I'll say it again - in my view - the real / practical - martial art - as a fighting art - is MMA - which is a martial art stripped of BS - now competitions can be annoying because of their rules but it still real contact against a real opponent. To me Fedor Emelianenko is the greatest fighter of all times - and if you study an external system like he is teaching - an average MMA fighter - will bring down with great ease a Taichi master or Bagua or Systema or what have you - I've seen it happen too many times - and I highly recommend it - great fun. Now that being said, this has nothing to do with real energy masters like John Chang, Wang Liping, Jiang and a few others that I'm not going to mention here - who are the real deal when it comes to internal arts and no MMA could do anything in that case. But people like B Franzis and Max and so many other wannabes who demonstrate some ridiculous convulsions and seizures on "their own" students and talk about it as if it was some highly achieved skills - those are my problems and every time I see somebody defend them - I see it as a big lie. You can praise them and say whatever you want about their skills - just please don't try to say that those guys can fight against a real MMA fighter - I'm not buying that. Now one more thing "Keep in mind Orb that 1000 years ago you didn't HAVE A SHOTGUN....." That's one of the problems that I see - a lot of people that are studying these ancient arts can't discern about practical and obsolete and keep living in this nerdy imaginary world. All these arts come with old fashioned rituals and weird clothes and weapons etc etc just a big waste of time. I went to visit once a great taichi master and he was teaching weapons like Pudao and Tiger Forks and Dragon tridents some of those were so big that they needed a big van everytime they brought them to practice - I mean come on, are you serious ? I mean I can see some things like a dart rope or a keris which is just a knife and can be used in a fight, but a trident ? I know people that would beat the crap out of those guys using a regular cell phone - now that's a real skill and I don't care what they used 1000 years ago......

Guys, The video in question has been released and filmed without the master's permission. They were told to film only the hands and the video was supposed to be only for personal use, but just like in case of John Chang the guys that took the video tricked him and put it on youtube. For a while it has been removed, because the master found out, but now it was put back by some other idiot. Anyway there are no lasers involved - the guy is for real - His name is Roman he is from Kazahstan and he has abilities similar to John Chang and there are students of his that have his abilities too. He is not at the level of John Chang but he is at a very high level. He treats other people with his energy and also belongs to a tradition of martial art that uses this energy for combat. I have talked to him and to a couple of his students - they have a very interesting system and all of them have very high moral guidelines based on a very specific karmic theory. Everything they do is being classified into three actions: either Positive or Negative or Neutral (Useless like they call it).

I didn't compare a teacher to a book or text - you did . The practice that I am talking about takes the practitioner to a different level. A book can't do that for you as teachings are transmitted in 3 different ways simultaneously while books resonate only in the intelectual center. There are people that believe that they can get somewhere with the help of a book. I've never met a person that achieved a good level of being after following a book, but you are welcome to try. From your description it seems to me that you have a very good practice. I wouldn't worry about it. Just keep doing what you are doing.

I've never hear Gurdjieff talk about karma that way. However about people's soul - he was saying that soul is a luxury and very rare - only a few people have it - and that's because they worked for it and built one. Once you have one then you can "FEEL" your soul and you "KNOW" something that other people don't. Also there are many levels and a lot of completely misinterpreted phenomena. Just because somebody has an out-of-body experience doesn't mean that the person has a soul - and just because somebody remembers to have lived before - doesn't mean that everybody lived before and everybody reincarnates and they just forgot about it. Also people might have an energetic/astral body - but that's not necessarily an imortal soul and it dissipates shortly after death. It was interesting to see that Kostas refers to that condition in one of his books and talks about the people's soul like - a very weak dark shadow which doesn't retain much from the person's characteristics and seems kinda brainless. That fits G's teaching about the necessity of building a mental body , an emotional body etc... Also a lot of sacred texts - are meant to be read by a certain group of people and it just cannot be applied to everybody - it's like trying to fix a car following the technical manual of a supersonic jet. However we are very naive and we assume everything, also we think that all people are the same and they are not. The theory about "food for the moon" is quite different from the usual type of esoteric ideas and cannot be explained without practice.

that is the key, but you NEED A TEACHER. -
Books/texts/articles/theories - all this is going to provide you is knowledge, you might be able to get a PHD or smth and become a philosopher at most. If you really want to "KNOW" then you need to "BE" - you need practice and experience and both your questions about imortality and yin/yang will be answered. For that you need a real teacher that has been "THERE" and knows how to take you there. (and frankly - good luck in finding one :/ ). Now about buddhism or taoism being esoteric or not here's my take on it. Make sure you make the difference between Esoteric and Exoteric. Any religion Buddhism / Taoism / Christianity / Islam etc ... have an esoteric as well as an exoteric side to it. 99 % of what you see and find is exoteric. For the esoteric part of it you have to dig and pay and sweat and sacrfice and it's very rare and very limited.

About 12 years ago I've heard a story of a guy that was diagnosed with cancer -he was very sick and could barely walk and it was too late for any treatment.. Of course the doctors still tried to get him to do the kimo therapy - but they couldn't ensure him even a chance to prolongue his life for a few months - so basically he was to die very soon. But the man refused to do the kimo and stopped going to the doctor altogether - and took a different decision - he got a rifle with enough ammo for a few months and matches also enough to last him for a few good months. He didn't take any food with him however and he went into the Siberian Tundra by himself after saying goodbye for ever to his friends and family. Now Siberian Tundra is not the most user-friendly place around, besides the immense area and extreme cold temperatures they also have pretty serious bears and siberian tigers etc. So to make long story short he had to fight the hard conditions and to survive he had to hunt and keep himself warm and 5 months later he came back to his family healthy like cucumber. Nobody made a movie about the guy nobody wrote a book about him - the only way people learned about his story was because his family was totally blown away by his return - as in the meantime they had burried him already with a priest and a service etc - so it was published in the local newspaper. Also the guy didn't have any extreme spiritual ideas - just the basic christian philosophy that simple folk go by. He got very sick and was about to die - he forced his body to cure himself and didn't die. Also I've heard of another guy that had advanced stomach ulcer or smth like that. He went to live high in the mountains with the sheppards. 3 months later after eating only sheep cheese and milk and working with the sheppards - the guy comes back with a healthy stomach. Now that's impressive to me.

LOL you've read my mind sir. The movie to me is a perfect example of a useless childish rebelious behavior and a total incapacity of a city boy to survive in the nature and to use his brain. It proves the complete inefectiveness of modern education too. In other words he died like a dumass. What a waste of life. Only in America !

Oh I wasn't relating my video it to your video, mwight. Your video is excelent and it does make a good point.
