Today on the teleovision the Dali Lama was speaking at a press club luncheon. While studying the Dali Lama and his aide (also a monk) who helps him with English, I couldn't help but notice how shiny both their heads were.I'am not talking just a bit of gleam from the lights but full on crystal ball shiny. This got me thinking about hair or the lack of it.Why is it Buddahist monks shave their heads and daoist monks are often pictured with long hair?

Can you put Buddha to bed? Can you pack him a little lunch and send him on his way? Can you say Buddha what Buddha? Is there any other truth besides the guru and his consort?

Taoist practice advice for post ejaculation fatigue symptoms?
seadog replied to buckaroobonzai's topic in General Discussion
I'Am currently trying to repair myself from excessive semen loss,I can't believe how drained I feel.Ahh the joyful sacrafices we as men make. So I consulted the I ching as to guidance in rapid repair and got hex34 vigour Through my hazey and muddled thinking I came to the conculsion that I need to do some serious tree gong. So I will be returning to my 66 metre high pine tree friend, who is convienently located in my back yard and ask her kindly to help replace that which was also given away freely. -

Great post Vaj.Thanks for sharing.Me thinks the single most important element of the instruction (if there can be such a thing) "Without a totally open, empathetic and responsive relationship, the yogi will fail."This is the true core of the alchemy of opposites.

Well all I can say,as a Man who loves Women.Never underestimate the sublime feminine essence. In my humble oppinion it is the true door to the creative and strong sexual energy is the key that unlocks the door. The basis of all alchemy is the blending of yin and yang. There can be no life,no bliss, no creativity without this intercourse of complementry opposites.

Nature, immune as to a sacrifice of straw dogs, Faces the decay of its fruits. A sound person, immune as to a sacrifice of straw dogs, Faces the passing of human generations. The universe, like a bellows, is always emptying, always full; The more it yields, the more it holds. Men come to their wits end arguing about it And had better meet it at the marrow. Dao De Jing 5 Perhaps this is the hardest for us as humans to do, to look at life with its with all it unreasonableness, its suffering and injustice. To look right at it and remain immune as the Sage sugests. Facing the decay of its fruit, meeting it at the marrow.

Sometimes we can get so caught up in ourselves that it becomes destructive. The surest antidote to your problem is servitude. There is no end to people and animals that can be of benifit to the energies of someone who is fit. As you know there is a time to help ourselves and there is a time to help others.

Thats a great post Stig. You have a wonderful command of language. This is what I like in particular about the five element theory. The process of going and returning is alluded to in such a fashion, where one can see how ones views disrupt ones health and longevity. The realisation that contained in expansion is contraction and in contraction there is expansion,is above all very liberating. That going and coming are held together simutaneously, is wonderful indeed.

Vegetarian diet and body building / hard training
seadog replied to Spirit Ape's topic in Healthy Bums
Yeah totally understand what you are saying Gary and I feel like I'am in the same situation as you.Hate the idea that some other creature had to suffer so I can maintain myself. Seriously tried to maintain a veg diet but like I mentioned before just couldn't sustain me. If you find something that works for you while doing some hard and contious physical labour please let me know. -
Vegetarian diet and body building / hard training
seadog replied to Spirit Ape's topic in Healthy Bums
Hey Gary. The biggest problem I found with a veg diet and doing a lot of physical work is. 1 getting enough food into myself so I have enough fuel reserves 2 getting enough protein. I know you can get protein from non animal sources but for some reason its just not the same. I get to a point were I need to eat meat so I have enough energy to do my job. If I have a break from work and what not then vegeterian is great, could easily forgo the meat, but find I can't be strickly vegeterian while working hard. Having a ridicoulsly fast metabolism doesn't help either. -
Gold you didn't answer the question you simply reiterated what you have been told by someone else, useing a language that was given to you. No were not the mother and father of our language we are the children of it.Since day one every single person you have come in contact with has maintained your world around you, upholding it with the power of words. Words that were given to you. By the age of ten you have been effectively been hard wired by these words. The world is constanly being rebuilt everyday for you by the language people speak around you. All knowledge you can speak of has been handed down to you, you are the product of countless eons of life that proceeded you. To consider that one is renter or one is a owner is just a game you are playing in your mind. True gnosis or the word is spontaneously ariseing and empty. Nobody niether can own or rent it because it is beyond such renting and owning, yet it is present both in owning and renting. Owning and renting are the same because the word or gnosis is present in both. So are we both then the creator and the created. The owner and the renter.
-
What about the sticky question of language? We think and communicate in language,a language that has been handed down to us by our ancestors. All of our knowledge rented, owned or otherwise is the product of the description of the world around us. In a sense the forces of nature compelled us to speak, to give life names,to make an inventory. According to your definition renters are those who hear something said write it down and memorise it. Isn't that what we call getting an education? Is it possible to step outside this framework,if so how do we exprience knowledge without the filter of language? Is this what is meant in the Dao de ching "the tao that can be mentioned is not the true dao" If true knowledge or gnosis can only be exprienced,by whats means do we express our exprience without resorting to language. You only have to read the endless debates on this web page in regards to Buddhism, verse taoism verse hinduism to realise how strong we value our particular inventory. And truly the only issue I can see which seperates them is the use of language. So how do we become owners of knowledge when we have effectively rented the world around us from our ancestors?

One of the biggest mistakes we can make is the false belief that one sizes fits all. What is good for Fred might spell disaster for Barney. To meditate on one particular organ without a comprhensive understanding of your personnel energetic and physical make up is foolish to say the least. The idea of semen retention without a full understanding of the state of your jing,qi and shen is nothing short of sheer ignorance. Depending on circumstances for some ejaculation can be beneficial and supportive while for others it is depleteing. To store up jing by withholding ejaculation and not fully understanding what we are doing is like shutting the dam gates while the rain is pouring eventual its gonna overflow i.e nocturnal emmission. That is why it so important to realise our constutional makeup, how our ingrain views of the world effect our organs, what it is the most beneficial way for us as individuals to express the Dao which is unique to ourselves. What season is good for us to gather and what season is good to release? What hour of the day is good for us to be active and what hour is good to relax? If you don't know become familiar with your pulse it never lies. So often people write I have weak kidney jing. Well what does this mean? Does this mean the lungs aren't supporting the kidneys?Does this mean inwardly deep seated fears of death and loss are draining the fire from mingmen, are we talking of preheaven yang jing,or post heaven acquired jing?Is our jing weak all day or at the hours between 5pm and 7pm.? Can withhold ejaculation in the winter the same as in the spring and expect to have the same outcome? Any prescription that falls under the catagory "one size fits all" is dubious to say the least and should be consider for what it is.

Thanks for takeing the time to post this Matt. Sound advice.
-
Yes exactly thats why we have a conscience and thats why we have circumstances,so we can evaluate what is right and what is wrong.
-
Everybody knows whats right and whats wrong. If in doubt just check with your body, your body will always tell you weather the actions you are takeing are right or wrong.
-
I truly believe that nobody can answer these questions, except for you. One of the great attributes of meditation is the ability it can give us to have space. The space to watch ideas come and go.If we can work out were these ideas of nirvana, cessation, independent origination etc come from and were they go to.Well let me know when you find out.

No wurries Cate. Archaic it has been exprience that if you have an abundance of postive clean energy, all matter of life is naturally drawn to you. Dogs cats birds children, older people, men and oh ya woman.
