Has anyone met or know anything about these guys

I thought this all is/was part of martial arts. I've given up on trying to learn something from books and/or by googling stuff, if you want to learn something you have to find someone who can teach you. At least that's how I see it take a look at min 42- 46 replies

Thanks everyone for dropping in, I wasn't expecting this to be such a "hot topic". Please don't speculate or talk about things you overheard somewhere, or read about. The only way to get somewhere is to analyze the facts, and in this case this would be personal experience (because there's no way to measure this any other way) I was dismissing all this for years, until people that I respect told me this could be possible, or they have seen stuff like this or something similar. Naturally this got me interested. do you know someone else willing to teach this ? is the offer still up ? Can you expand a little bit on what you mean by: "pushing, pulling and freezing" ? Who is teaching this ? Where ? and how much does it cost ?- 46 replies

If I may ask, what is/was the nature of your relation ? I've seen a few videos on youtube with him, and would like to hear what people think about him- 46 replies

I've been practicing for a few months now, mostly observing my breath and body, working on my posture and breath. I've come to a point where if I "tune" my breath to be very thin and deep and keep my focus on my LDT some kind of vibration is going on there I've been trying to google some responses and found something, but I'm still unsure about what to do next. These guys explain quite well what I'm experiencing, but we have a different background: http://qifrontier.com/2013/11/15/a-fish-in-the-belly/ and from this post here: http://thedaobums.com/topic/31898-rotating-the-lower-dan-tien/?p=488443 should I just ignore it, and keep doing "emptiness" meditation, or should I continue focussing on the LDT ?
-
Quite a bit of info here, thanks
-
you're right, I'm only half year through this, so my full lotus is still rusty. Would you say that one has to be able to do full lotus in order to be called a "serious" practitioner ? and, since you seem to have some experience with this, what would be your recommendations for someone like me ?
-
Thank you for your concern. I am aware of the possible risks involved in all this, but since there's so much misinformation out there, I decided to try and figure out for my self. I think/hope that it'll be enough to "listen" to my body and go with what feels right, also, in my opinion science has evolved enough, it should be possible to explain what's going on without the need of much mysticism. For me this is more an experiment on "self suggestion" then a religious practice, and I'm writing this to leave a trace of some sort in case something "bad" will happen
-
for those interested in this topic, the book - "The Secretes of Chinese Meditation", by Samuel Weiser is touching this subject of vibrations in the belly briefly (page 174)
-
thanks, I'll add these books to my "to read" shelf I've read about so many approaches and paths. The conclusion I came to is that every practice is some kind of "self therapy". Everybody is looking for unity/the light/gods, but all that is within ourselves, in our subconscious so to say, or the soul - whatever term works for you best. My goal is finding something, but since my senses dictate how I perceive the world the first step to my "goal" became - getting a feel for this energy within us. something like baby steps towards the Dao, or whatever you want to call it. I believe that every religion (or even living in itself) leads us in the same direction, so.. everyone's welcome to say everything he feels like saying
-
I'll continue doing a little bit of both and see what works and what doesn't I don't have a teacher or something like that, and I don't think I'm ready to accept someone as my guru, but I feel that I've read enough to understand how it's supposed to work, at least to get me started dwai, could you elaborate some more on those 4 steps, what exactly would I have to do ? MooNiNite - thanks, I will
-
thank you for your response, I'm asking mostly because they occur at my will (in a way or another) if they were to happen involuntary I probably wouldn't have started this thread. It requires focus and a type of very fine/subtle breathing pattern and it it's very easy to "lose it" if I start to lose focus There's no one I can ask, no teacher or anything like that. My practice is a result of lots of reading and my "abundance" of free time. I think I'll focus on my LDT for a while and see if I can spot a difference, between what I was doing until now and my new "discovery", just wanted to hear a few opinions

I've been thinking lately about karma and yin-yang Imagine that someone is punching you in the face, freeze the image when the fist is 0.5 seconds away. from the Buddhist point of view, it's all karma, you messed up something and now it's all coming back to you on the other side.. what kind of energy is the punch? Is it yang? Does that mean that you can send yin energy, that way balancing out things so that there will be no way for it to manifest?(or vice versa if it's yin)
-
martial arts indeed would help me with the physical part of the problem, or at least alleviate it a little bit, but one can not stop the source of the punch (the pain / anger / intention behind it) with force It looks like you have the same problem as I do. here's the "wrong" part in all this, if you take time and read through "CT" post, there's a nice example related to Buddha there: if you would have "countered" the punch the "right" way, there would no "IOU", I didn't want to bring jesus in here (now that he's here) I think that by turning the other cheek, that is, if the situation is "right", you are forcing the one punching you to face his issue. (karma is happy, yin-yang is happy, even you might enjoy the punch) I don't have a fixed religion (my religion is love). I threw in buddhism and yin-yang together to reach a broader audience (so to say) I like the idea of karma because it works in absolutely every situation, but yin-yang is kind of limited, is it because it's mainly used in martial arts, to indicate which way the forces go ? If you take the picture as a whole, there are 2 persons in it, the earth and the sky, do we have like one big yin-yang circle for earth and sky, and two smaller ones for each person ? I don't get how it's supposed to work..
-
C T - thank you for sharing this wisdom Taomeow - I could, but I'm not sure that it's the "right" thing to do.. and I think "CT"-s answer includes this option maybe someone could say some more on how one would use - yin in this situation
-
As a Buddhist, you don't want to stain your karma, and you'd do everything possible to help the person that is punching you, right? (Accepting the punishment so to say) and if there is already yang energy in his fist, by stepping back you are also using yang, which kind of breaks the rules, if he's giving you yang, shouldn't you be able to give him yin.. (I mean without moving). The yin of movement would be stillness, right?

Hi, firstly I'd like to say that I'm glad that I've found this place, it's filled with lots of information and good (and not so good) people Before I go into telling the story I'd like to state my goal first, which is finding evidence that this force within really exists (chi, qi, life force) whichever term works for you, but I have no idea what I'm doing so any input is highly appreciated. 1. journeys out of the body robert monroe http://www.amazon.com/Journeys-Out-Body-Robert-Monroe/dp/0385008619 I started out with this book, the author seemed like a pragmatic man (not too crazy) so I said, why not give it a try. The method he describes there is pretty simple, you relax, close your eyes, stay on your back with your head direction north (would be nice to find out why exactly north but..), then you focus your attention above your eyes, about where your hands would be if you'd stretch them out, and after a while you move your attention somewhere above your head (I'd say where you crown chakra is but I'm not sure) and wait for a miracle to happen. didn't have any success with this, but I'm still trying from time to time I'm also playing with this 2. John Chang (Mo Pai) http://spiritualteachers.proboards.com/thread/1320 I tried to do what that guy said there for the first level for about a month, and realized that there's no way that I can empty my mind just like that, so I'm doing something different right now. I'm sitting in half lotus, breathing in through the nose, "forcing" in as much air as I can, until I reach a point that I feel some kind of pressure around that point where the lower dantien (I meant to say solar plexus) is supposed to be, and when breathing out I'm pulling in my stomach and huiyin (perineum) until I fell the pressure in the same place. I like this more then just trying to empty your mind because, I have a point at which to focus and the second one is after a while of doing this kind of breathing I transpire a lot but only in that region (around the abdomen and lower back) which is a good sign, right ? 3. Opening the Dragon Gate: The Making of a modern Taoist Wizard I stopped reading this one after I saw that you have to be able to sit in full lotus for at least 4 hours (which took that guy around half a year to achieve), and I'm only able to do half lotus for ~2 hours max, and even that feels like torture What do you guys think ? (I'm sorry that I've made you read all that)

Hi, for starters I'd like to say that I like that you have this rule that everyone has to introduce himself, makes the forum more "credible". I live in Chisinau, Moldova right now, I was quite interested in eastern religions and their way of thinking, and did some meditation when I was in school, but had to quit that when I started studying at the university, and I also kind of felt disappointed that meditation is only inside your head or something like self induction / self hypnosis. Things got a new twist when I stumbled upon a video with John Chang (I'm sure people know about him), the only thing I could find on the internet related to him is the link below. http://spiritualteachers.proboards.com/thread/1320 I have some question related to this topic, but I'd like to check out the existing discussions first, and then ask only if I won't be able to find what I'm looking for. thanks for building the site & community I wish you all a nice day

This is exactly what I was thinking to do, sort of. I'd like to do some stretching exercises so that I'm more comfortable with full lotus, then somehow little by little maintain that for ~4 hours, then I'll get back to it. Is someone familiar with that kind of breathing technique ? Is it any good for something ? (I wouldn't ask if not all the sweating) Thank you, I will definitely check out the book. I don't think I'm doing Mo Pai training right now, I don't think I'll ever be doing it. (but I'd like to since it looks "real") PS At the moment it's more important than anything else for me to "see" that there is something out there, or in there (even than my own health)
