Thanks, I found it.

Interesting quote. Reference link? It would be nice to read it in context.

So you do not already have an established practice? Makes sense...

Have you sung it since with the same emotional response? The song is about betrayal, specifically females betraying females in a variety of ways. Sounds like it hit a soft spot you didn't know you had and opened up something maybe on a subconscious level. Embrace the feeling momentarily and keep on singing. It will release. I'd love to hear a good male version of this tune.

It is not. It takes work and practice, lots of practice, years or maybe even lifetimes.

inner voice, thought, monolog,
Kar3n replied to dontknwmucboutanythng's topic in Buddhist Discussion
You do not. When the mind wanders or internal dialogue begins refocus on the breath or the object of your meditation. I've found that in deep meditation all sorts of things occur, but even though my senses are active I am not reactive. -
I've seen 2 blue birds here is AZ. They are lovely little creatures.

No, sorry. You would have to ignore members.

Invites work after the first week and you have posted 15 times on the forums. Right now your member group is junior bum. You might want to put some spaces in your email address above or remove it. RSS bots frequent the site often and your inbox could be filled with spam if the wrong entity gets a hold of it. You are really not missing much in chat. There is rarely anyone there these days. Perhaps when you have access you will bring some new life to it.

What to say when one kills an ant?
Kar3n replied to dontknwmucboutanythng's topic in General Discussion
This is always tough for me too. I do not like killing anything. I even have a tough time pulling weeds from my flowerbeds. I always apologize and ask forgiveness. I do not know that it does any good, but I do it anyways. -
If you're not afraid of the cat then I'd say problem solved. Rest easy in knowing the cat is having some fun. It does sound as if you are becoming more receptive to energy. If you can, email your teacher and see if there is a practice they can recommend to balance you a bit. If that is not possible, I sitting in meditation with gentle focus on your solar plexus, breathing into it and on exhale releasing what you feel there might help. Good luck to you.

Think your dream may have been a release of some of that anger? If so, now it is time to let it go and move on. Good luck to you.

Are you afraid of the cat? No?

The position of Taoism concerning social responsibility
Kar3n replied to wandelaar's topic in General Discussion
The question that lingers is, are free will and the Way synonymous? Every time I ponder this I come back to the uncarved block, its natural state and the part of us affects free will. Is it desire, it is conditioning, is it experience? In ways I think it is all of the above and many other things. I can only surmise that free will is just another hurdle along the Way that we all jump daily. I am still thinking about it... -
I think there is a ripening that needs to happen before all is revealed in any circumstance. The question is who decides who is ripe for knowledge? I suspect the person (teacher) with the knowledge (secret) will identify markers or spontaneous realizations in others before telling all or even a portion. I think of withholding information (secrets) in terms of telling a baby they can run before they have the ability to crawl. Once milestones are reached (baby example- rolling, scooting, crawling, standing, falling, standing, walking, falling, walking, running, falling...) many "secrets" reveal themselves. We want language and someone else's experience to ascribe what we really already are and are capable of but are too lazy to do the work to uncover it for ourselves within ourselves.
-
I do not know anyone who would say they are realized and be taken seriously, that said, I have a friend that is an artist who creates from stillness... This is her take on her "art"... “I can’t really say I create the paintings, because any time my mind is actively deciding what to do, the paints and colors just don’t flow. However, when I stop, I become silent, I ask the divine/stillness to paint. Then, the colors, the shades, the paint, the brush strokes, it all just flows.” http://creationsfromstillness.com/

The position of Taoism concerning social responsibility
Kar3n replied to wandelaar's topic in General Discussion
If we take the TTC's recommendations for the emperor and apply them to ourselves, we see that essentially we are or should be ruling ourselves rather than another. The 3 treasures (Chapter 67) outlines for us how we (rulers of our own life) should conduct ourselves. Be compassionate. Be modest. Be humble. (these are my understanding of the treasures and yes, there are broader implications I am aware of) The Taoist cares, but to be truly living the Way, s/he does not interfere with nature's course and conducts themselves not from an active moral perspective, but rather allowing all to rise and fall without interference as nature intends. Individuals are not personally responsible for the actions of other humans nor for the course that nature flows. It gets tricky because not everyone (I would venture to say almost no one) lives completely according to the Tao and has the non-dual perspective that Lao Tzu did. We have been indoctrinated to believe in the concepts of good and evil. Would the subjective concepts of good (right) exist without the concept of evil (wrong) and vise versa? Would there be a need to intervene or act in a way that society dictates of a caring individual if we are tending to ourselves and how we interact according to the Tao? -
I see no need to remove this thread. I am sure you will have some who are willing to speak of their experiences and some who will criticize the use of psychedelics. Some can handle it and some can not. We all live and learn.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but... It will come on its own as a result of practice. Keep sitting...

Hello, Here you go... https://www.thedaobums.com/forum/544-sleepy-panda/ I am sorry for the delay in getting it set up for you. -
***MOD TEAM NOTICE*** Please stop using TDB as a video dump. The last two topics you have created, @9th, the videos could have been placed in "What are you listening to?" thread or in your PPD. If you do not have a PPD, let me know and I will create one for you so you can have a place to dump videos. There really should never be a topic created with a video in the opening post and no commentary other than in a PPD. Thank you for your cooperation. ********************************

Chuck, the Chihuahua, who likes to nap, whine and eat. He is a real PITA, but we love him inspite of his neediness. Piper, the Tibetan Terrier. He is a big puppy with a gentle, happy demeanor, even at 8. Piper is a hugger, likes having his picture taken and thinks he is a lap dog.
