I caught our cat mid meow in a catnip educed high watching the pigeons terrorize the doves that hang out in my backyard. He was a bird killing machine before I started getting him high

Welcome to the bums, Veezel. Brian is a very naughty boy! A masochist actually does enjoy being hurt and humiliated by others.

When you do things that you like, are you aligned with Tao?

I'd say the TTC addresses this nicely... CHAPTER 12 The five colours blind the eye. The five tones deafen the ear. The five flavours dull the taste. For having in excess, dulls the senses. When the senses are dulled, men look for more stimulation. Racing and hunting fever the mind. Precious things cause greed to arise in Men’s hearts. Therefore the Sage is guided by what he feels, and not by what he sees. He lets go of that and chooses this. -
I am working on that one myself, BES. After a few tears, the the just laughter comes naturally.

Dr. Barry Sears is on to something with this lifestyle choice. It is a choice that I have made in preparing meals for my family, and it works! Natural sugar, in the form of fruits and some vegetables, is great for us, refined sugar and too much fat are culprits for many ailments. I do not believe there is any sort of conspiracy where sugar or fat are concerned, it is people turning a blind eye to science, and not what the food industry or the government has been telling us for decades. Happy eating

I often use the analogy of a magic carpet ride It is a great place to be. Loving ourselves can sometimes be one of the hardest lessons, but once we are able to, it opens us up to a whole new world.

Swami Vivekananda's experience of Nirvikalpa Samadhi "When he presented himself to the Master, the latter said, looking deep into his eyes, Now then, Mother has shown you everything. Just as a treasure is locked up in a box, so will this realization you have just had be locked up and the key shall remain with me. You have work to do." Seems to to me that this state can be reached before Buddhahood, and one should be careful not to attach to it, but to rather use the realizations to express bodhicitta.

I like walking, too. It is a good time to reflect. A nice hike in the mountains can be a pretty powerful experience if you are really present and aware. I find yoga to be very therapeutic as well, not only for strengthening the mind/body connection, but it also has some good, lasting energetic effects as well, at least for me it does.

I have been watching this guy nest for about 10 days. I have not looked him/her up yet, but I suspect it is some kind of hawk. Will update soon. update: It is a falcon... American Kestrel Falco sparverius The American Kestrel is a special raptor, and is well adapted to any habitat throughout North America. This falcon, which is the smallest breeding bird of prey in North America, can be found in the middle of the busiest cities to some of the higher elevation forests. It nests in cavities, mainly holes in trees and convenient nest boxes built by people. In Maricopa County, the American Kestrel is no different. While they are observed in all habitats in the county, they can be seen in the highest numbers in areas with open fields, such as the agricultural fields in the Arlington area (Area 8). Spot the kestrel by it's hovering behavior, in which it's diet highly consists of insects. http://www.birderfrommaricopa.com/vultures--hawks--eagles--and-falcons.htm
