Can't edit or delete own posts, even in PPJ
Earl Grey replied to Earl Grey's topic in Forum and Tech Support
I think I found out the problem: can’t edit my posts in locked threads. So far it’s working if I unlock temporarily before editing a post. Thanks! -

No. I can only split or hide a post. I don't even have the option to edit appear. -

Still can't delete or edit. I wonder if something changed when removing as a whole members' ability to hide public threads. -

So far, it only gives me the option to hide or split on existing threads in the PPJ. Cool! Thanks! -
San Gong meditations have both healing and martial energy. The energy is quite strong, and without a kung fu background, are intense. Sifu Terry teaches the Tao Tan Pai system because it has been documented as having good synergy, going quite well with GMDW arts. Otherwise, he would assess your background in another existing kung fu practice to see if you can handle it, at least as I have seen with one of the meditations he has taught me. His own words: "Do not do the San Gong meditation I taught you more than once or twice a week and only after having done FP long form first. But when you learn a couple TTP kung fu forms, no problem." He does teach the San Gong meditations in his streams, which I have joined quite a few times, but only after doing some Flying Phoenix beforehand.

The book is symbolic and related to the matter, it was not meant to talk about the Phoenix as a mere symbol. Perhaps my response was not clear that it also was mentioned in this thread, but hopefully this is much clearer for you and others to understand.

Those forms are taught during his streaming sessions at his discretion and require some foundation before practice. One of those he taught me before for example should not be done daily without a firm background in kung fu forms of Tao Tan Pai: he mentioned that I may do it once or twice a week and only after finishing the long form from DVD V.4 due to the energetic foundation needed to fully and properly use the form.

Yes, according to some stories posted earlier in the thread by Sifu Terry. It is also why he recommends people go through the Don Juan series by Castaneda, as the symbolism of the bird is also prevalent towards the end.

Dolic's skill is proven from his acupuncture patients and qigong students. He does not push his political views on people. He will talk about it openly on social media but has never brought them up in any conversation unless specifically asked. Context on his views on vaccines: his daughter was born with a disability that an experimental vaccine from China while he lived there was used on her that didn't work and worsened her condition. The vaccine was already recalled and no longer used as a result. This is the same country that had to admit Sinovac is not efficient. This colors his views and does not affect his practice as people have seen with his martial arts, Fragrant, Sleeping, Relaxation, or Spontaneous Five Animals forms and his private styles he does not teach except to close friends. *Disclaimer: I am a close friend and student of Dolic.

"By the fruits ye shall be known." A student should also look at the criteria by which he judges his teacher too and see if his judgments are dubious rather than how he is judging his teacher.

How to build a foundation while I cant afford a teacher?
Earl Grey replied to Scholar's topic in Daoist Discussion
"It is better to have no foundation and zero problems than it is to have a horrible foundation that comes with many problems (especially health) when preparing to study with a new teacher." -
Dear all, We've summarized a "best of" for these past 215 pages with appropriate links.

Correct. This was a mistake on the DVD. As with all FP MSW meditations, 7 repetitions. EXCEPTION: MSW long form, which is not taught on the DVDs, but must be learned in the streaming classes or one-on-one with Sifu Terry and can be learned in one session, no more than two.

Like painting, writing, dancing, or singing, Flying Phoenix improves the more you do it. Doing it properly and perfectly, however, will be what improves your benefits exponentially. My Xin Yi teacher said something that Sifu Terry wholeheartedly agrees with: "Practice doesn't make perfect, but perfect practice makes what is perfect even better." Even for those not interested in teaching, I highly recommend taking a few one-on-one classes with Sifu Terry. Due to his busy schedule, he is not on here as much as he used to be in the past, hence my overseeing on his behalf both this thread and the one on Alchemical Garden. For reference, we have the FAQ there too so nothing is repeated that wasn't already said and answered many times on this thread and over 210 pages now, as a more public supplement due to the fact that this thread is not publicly viewable except for TDB members. This is in large part because of the number of scammers and trolls who tried to disrupt the thread several years ago, but at the cost of visibility, which means the casual student can't see the gems of this thread without registering for an account, whereas our supplementary page is publicly viewable for non-members as well and doesn't require digging through all 200 pages, making it a quick reference for future questions so nothing is repeated here. Additionally, the FP forum there is being updated periodically with sample routines of what Sifu Terry has posted here, such as how to improve the long form with Bending the Bows and Moonbeam Splashes on the Water, and is done for ease of access for everyone to bookmark and not need to log in to see.

The image above is to remember you aren't Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, or whatever man. You're a human being and nobody's cracking the whip or pointing a gun at you to be perfect. Looking forward to teaching alongside you in the future long after we have our teaching certification.

I practiced in groups before when arranging meet-ups with friends or holding workshops and using a few static meditations to liven the practice, and always encourage people to buy the DVDs. I inform Sifu Terry about this, and he doesn't mind--it keeps the art alive!

Sifu Terry has one student here who is a silent watcher on the thread who was doing all the training online and was almost done, but a lot of the other related trainings are for the herbal formulas from the Doo Wai family and some in-person tweaking for some meditations and kung fu forms from TTP or BFP. Ideally you will meet in person, but I believe Sifu Terry is adjusting for sincere aspirants due to covid19. And this Slovenian guy is charging money for this too, sadly. I'm sure you do it well enough given your own development and personality. This is why Sifu Terry is happy to hear when people are serious about teaching.

YES. YOU MUST BE QUALIFIED. We just had a post on the new main Flying Phoenix thread over at Alchemical Garden where Sifu Terry has moderation privilege too on someone teaching without qualification, something he has been meaning to discuss here but has been unable to do so because of his busy schedule. Here is a video of a DVD "master" teaching Flying Phoenix in Slovenia online and not mentioning where it came from. You may see how bad his form is. Quoting from the post at Alchemical Garden:

According to Sifu Terry, yes: Moonbeam and MGAM meditations can be done for both the sun and the moon in light of recent posts here when cultivating them from those FP forms. More easily felt now during this period and also a topic recently posted on our 2021 thread.

Nah. You're stuck in this need to be right and never your fault vortex now. We've seen it before in you, and some of us came out of it. Good luck!
