  1. I also grew up with the movie and loved it. Sure, Lynch disowned it, and I see Paul as Kyle too. I have the fan restored version that runs 3 hours long too. Guilty pleasures? Nah--I just enjoy it like I enjoyed many 80s flicks that people would roll their eyes over not just today, but even back then.
  2. A lot of revisions for texts don't necessarily make it to Google. I was living in Bangkok when the movie Cloud Atlas came out and had the chance to buy the British or American book, and noticed that there were huge differences, including cut text, in the American edition. The most glaringly obvious one was the last page of the Sonmi-451 chapter, and as I had Facebook at the time, I posted it there and it was a huge controversy that made many fans wonder how they had different books. These differences exist apparently in other books like the Harry Potter series, and it is no different in newer or older editions of Michael Moorcock's works. As for Brian Herbert's additions, there was a note in the publishing information and print edition that stated that there were alterations. My friend had it on tumblr before, but I can't find the link and I am no longer in touch with him, but he copied the differences and it was horrid, particularly changing the birthplace of Paul Atreides to suit the new canon from Brian that I disregard entirely. Frank's sequels diminish in quality compared to the original, but are still enjoyable; though by the second trilogy with Heretics and God Emperor, it's too weird at that point for many. You can read the original and be happy, or you can read the first trilogy and be happy, and doing it either way gives good closure. I read through it and in my head, everything ends with the first book nicely enough.
  3. Draining the swamp!

Immaturity knows no party lines. It's like people have forgotten that old movie Network about being mad as hell and refusing to take it anymore: they are mad as hell, but their anger loses power and meaning when they get mad about calling someone disabled or deaf instead of "differently-abled" or "hearing impaired" rather than getting mad about both Silicon Valley and Wall Street's continuous impunity. Anger is useless when it is not put into action, and action is meaningless when it doesn't involve thinking.
  4. Draining the swamp!

Yeah, I've met a few people too, but it's all mental masturbation to them at this point. Guys I've spoken with in person too from Eastern Europe, the U.S., and they have adopted this "Everyone's pissing into the wind now, so let's tell them to eat asparagus and watch them freak out when it changes the color of their piss" kind of jocular attitude about it. You're no joeblast (he's too stupid to understand anything), but some of the sources like the memes come off less as your intent to mock the people who respond to them and appear as though you're citing them the way people use Instagram memes as their authoritative reference. I get you're having a few laughs using the memes as you mentioned earlier, but that's what it looks like at a glance, and I'm not trying to troll you when I say that.
  5. nCov19 Development and Prevention Discussion Only

No, I chose to point out when the emperor has no clothes and call a fool a fool. It's as if everyone forgets chapter 81 of the Tao Te Ching. I suffer no fools nor do I brook lazy thinking, which is worse than not thinking--all of which you happen to do.
  6. nCov19 Development and Prevention Discussion Only

No, a bunch of friendly people with informed opinions have a laugh at people who have ZERO self-awareness about the nonsense they spew and the arrogant self-certainty of how flat the earth is or make up their own pseudoscience about climate change, how certain Taiji styles activate dantians, and now ignorant crap about coronavirus. Stupid is as stupid does. But as usual—talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish, so might as well have a laugh and let him continue being the clown without makeup.
  7. nCov19 Development and Prevention Discussion Only

Post irrational and insensitive crap and people respond to you with sardonic crap, old boy.
  8. Ha! I posted just before seeing this as the thread updated! We must be on to something! The yellow peril of dark sorcerers are Asian men while Headache loves Asian women!
  9. The sorcerer behind it is Lo Pan.
  10. nCov19 Development and Prevention Discussion Only

Rudeforever spams another thread with ignorant drivel. I wonder what people like him would say if they got the damn thing themselves and put their friends and relatives at risk.
  11. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to put aside all grievances past and present if but temporarily for the purpose of this thread when posting here. We are in a global crisis now with the coronavirus. Panic buying, lack of access to goods, limitations on movement, and unequal medical care for everyone are but a few of the many things affecting all of us. The food, service, and retail industries are going to be hit hard. There aren't enough tests and some people are not recognizing that this is a serious issue for others if not necessarily for them due to the folly of youth. Some of us may even worry that us individually or those we know and care about are directly affected. This thread has been created with the express purpose of requesting for any help and making offers for what we can give to each other in this time of crisis. If you post here, the first thing I ask is do not talk about theories of its origin, no conspiracies, no politics, no religious condemnations. Muslim, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Taoist, Sikh; Democrat, Republican, Labour, Tory; black, white, yellow, red, brown; rich, poor, middle class--we are all humans and must put aside these false dichotomies separating us because all of us are affected. General updates about your country or location can be posted in this other thread instead: If you are posting in this thread, I ask you to please, please offer what you can to others who don't know what they can ask for or that someone care enough to give something, be it comfort or a donation. I also ask that we humble ourselves to be able to ask each other for help too. What I have been offering others around me are emotional support having been a therapist and peer counselor, and have given people some basic techniques from my qigong health practices. One person I know is now thinking about holding group sessions for Fragrant qigong if there is interest in their location. Here is what I, the user known as Earl Grey, will offer others: - Possible connections to other people who can help through referral, via connecting digitally or locally - Peer counseling and limited teaching - Akashic readings If any of you would like to request help or let others know what you can offer, please post here. Remember: we are human beings and this is planet earth--if we still can't get our shit together in a crisis, then how can we do that when we are in far more comfortable and ideal circumstances?
  12. Draining the swamp!

Everyone seems to be an expert with "insider info" these days--all I care about is seeing what the endgame is, and as for people who cite QAnon like one member who no longer posts here (thank gods he's gone), I've seen better effort in bad 70s fiction. I've come to a point where even if I cite insider info, it would drown in a sea of people who all claim to know someone who knows someone or have info nobody else has. The market value for information decreases, whether it's true or not, but those who actually know laugh their asses off because covering their tracks is much easier.
  13. Hello from Dalmatia

Again, you won't know what you're looking at if you know basic arithmetic but are asked to look at calculus and matrix algebra--and then quantum physics. All very different, and that's why I say you may be good with self-analysis with what you know about yourself, but you don't know enough about these internal arts yet. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. Dolic is a good teacher, by the way--so if you need guidance, he's definitely someone you would best enjoy given you speak the same languages.
  14. Draining the swamp!

That's what confused me about the logic (or lack thereof) with his supporters who said he was draining the swamp: all he did was substitute his own swamp for the original one.
  15. The Most Powerful "Talisman"

This is what I take from studying western occultism, Taoist arts, and practicing my Xin Yi: the body itself can be a talisman. An example of this is in the Wang Liping book Opening the Dragon Gate which says the meridians and acupuncture points on the body are also the same as the ones on the earth--what happens to our bodies happens to the earth, and vice-versa. We share chakras with the planets and the earth itself too. An example of a talisman is in an odd character created by chaos magician and author Grant Morrison, whose Flex Mentallo was a man who held the power of matter over mind: by perfecting his body, he could flex muscles to alter reality. I have seen this happen on another level of Zhan Zhuang that only people at this skill level will have, and nobody will ever learn it from a book or without being able to stand for hours properly.
  16. Draining the swamp!

If Biden or Trump win, we all lose and big business wins.
  17. Hello from Dalmatia

I have read for people in your country before and around the world across all regions. It is only as difficult as you make it to be. Studying Marx is not the same as studying the internal arts. It is also important to know that many books are either incomplete or have disinformation because they're primarily marketing and recruiting tools. No master reveals everything in his book knowing that the hungry student will want more and seek to acquire more when the book doesn't satisfy them enough, and plenty more reasons I could get into. I could point you to threads here of some people who claimed to have learned from books alone and then showed that they had a lot of concepts they didn't understand well at all. The user Mskied did that with Crowley and got schooled by Crowley scholar Nungali here. I would also be careful about self-analysis because you don't know what you don't know at your current level of skill--it may look the same from the outside, but it is not the same with subtle things that only someone formally trained can see. If you look at videos of Paul Roberts and compare him to Glenn Hairston, you will see a world of difference in skill--the former has none and the latter is literally an immortal fighter who has very few who compare to his level of skill--the above video of David Chan doing fajin is one of them, along with Doo Wai. And if you can't see the difference, then you don't have the skill to see or know yet. Being brutally honest, this thread has shown you have a ways to go based on what your initial questions about Fragrant reveal.
  18. Draining the swamp!

The Dumbocrats are repeating the same mistake for Biden they did with Hilary before: nominating for someone based on electability rather than platform, policy, and principle. Sanders is the one I would go with, but we sure ain't seeing that now, so I'm not holding my breath given that the Rethuglicans are basically going to get their wish with another four years of Trump.
  19. Yes—whole passages within the original text from page one and onwards are altered to suit Brian’s canon. 🤮 More later.
  20. Mantras and Coronavirus

I have plenty more where these mantras came from, and if all goes well this year, I’ll sit the exam next year to be a teacher of mantra.
  21. Mantras and Coronavirus

Sure! Here's the information from the old newsletter: HUNG VAJRA PEH Vajrapani: The Protector Of Dharma And Great Initiator, who is often seen at the entrance of a temple, holding a vajra (thunderbolt) to keep out negative entities. This is the Tibetan version of the Sanskrit, Hum Vajra Phat (Fat). This mantra is very powerful in clearing space of negativity, whether that negative energy is within us or in a room in our house or at work. Mantra: Hung Vajra Peh (Phat) An approximation of the meaning is, "Invoking the word (object of power) and putting it forth with force from the throat chakra, I destroy negativity." "Hung" is the Sanskrit word "hum," spoken in the back of the mouth with lips parted. This pronunciation is most common in Northern India, Nepal and Tibet. "Vajra" means object of power/thunderbolt. "Peh" is a peculiarly Tibetan and Chinese pronunciation form of the Sanskrit work "Phat." In His beatific form, his energy is said to empower initiators giving various empowerments.
  22. Mantras and Coronavirus

Now that I think about it, I also would ask people to chant Hung Vajra Peh because when chanting this space-clearing mantra, it also removes the black spiritual gunk around the world little by little, and do so with the intent of removing this darkness in our time.
  23. As quotas are going on for food and I may not even be able to walk to the opposite building where my stuff is stored (including my shaver, yay...), I have enough books and video games to entertain me when I'm not training. Going to go through the Jonathan Carroll series as I finally have almost all of his books, from the Answered Prayers sextet to The Crane's View trilogy and his individual works. Otherwise, been playing a lot of PS4 and Nintendo Switch, from Bloodborne to Yakuza Zero and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. And of course: training. Spending a lot of time in the roof deck, doing an average of 2-3 hours of Zhan Zhuang in any of the eight postures, then the Taiji and Xin Yi practices, then Flying Phoenix. Most days I do 2 hours of Zhan Zhuang, sometimes I decide to go for 3, maybe I'll eventually get to 5 if I feel like beating the previous record, and if I didn't have dog duty, I'd see if I could do the sunrise to sunset challenge.
