I was browsing through amazon and man this guy has written so many books, this is the guy that inspired Michael Frost. Anyway a book he has written caught my eye titled "The Power of Natural Healing" and its only about 150 pages long so it looks fairly short and to the point compared to other books on Chi Kung/Tao. Has anyone read his books or know much about his practices?, I am constantly buying books on Chi Kung, Im buying around one book a week, anyone else addicted to buying books and studying different practices. The other day I order "The Art of Chi Kung" by Wong Kiew Kit which is a totally different path altogether (Shaolin Chi Kung), I guess Im building a library. Daniel

I found this info on another forum.. Cold showers have the following positive effects: *Brings blood to the capillaries, therefore increasing circulation throughout the body. *Cleans the circulatory system. *Reduces blood pressure on internal organs. *Provides flushing for the organs and provides a new supply of blood. *Strengthens the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. * Contracts the muscles to eliminate toxins and poisonous wastes. * Strengthens the mucous membranes, which help resist hay fever, allergies, colds, coughs. Many health problems are reduced or even eliminated over time by providing proper circulation of the blood to the affected area using the cold shower mback sideage. "Ishnan" is the term used in the old days when people in India referred to cold showers (very cold showers). "Ishnan" is the point at which the body, by its own virtue, creates the temperature that it can beat off the coldness of the water. This happens when the capillaries open with the onset of the cold water. They close again during the course of the cold shower and it is at that point that all the blood rushes back to flush the organs and the glands. This process allows the glands to renew their secretions and "youth" (i.e. young glands) again returns to the body.

Have your normal shower and then end with 1-2 minutes of cold, make sure the water runs over the entire body especially the genitals.

more ... When you first start taking cold showers, you may find that you go through a time of experiencing small illnesses in the physical body such as colds or flu. What you must realise is that these illnesses were already present in the form of repressed emotions and toxins and cold water simply serves to expose them. Fear is often an issue here and people will use many excuses not to take a cold shower. After a couple of days of cold showering, most people report that they feel much lighter and happier. People have a tendency to 'glow' when they take regular cold showers and others remark upon how well they are looking. When taking cold showers regularly you may enjoy: Improved Circulation/Detoxification/Weight Loss: Cold showers extract toxins from the body, they improve circulation and help prevent cellulite, as well as slowing down spider and varicose veins formation. Improved circulation helps to eliminate toxins that are accumulated in layers of fatty deposits, which not only makes you feel better as the poisons are no longer affecting you, but helps you to lose weight as well. Improved circulation and the production of the body's natural blood thinning enzyme are greatly improved. This makes cold showers particularly effective in the prevention of heart attacks. Less Stress Cold water also draws tension away from the body. Tension is usually blocked energy, an old thought form or emotional baggage we have been carrying from a particular experience. These all become locked within the body and as we have regular cold showers these are drawn to the surface of our body and removed. Swimming in the sea or in fresh water also has the same effect. The sun expands and feeds our etheric body and the sea carries the negativity away. When swimming in a public pool however, you must remember that whoever has swum previously in that water leaves behind all their negative energy that the water has absorbed from them. Have a cold shower afterwards to get rid of what you may have collected. More Energy and Vitality Cold showers combat fatigue and restore energy as they help the adrenaline process that releases natural energy. By clearing the energy pathways or meridian lines within our physical and etheric bodies, cold showers induce sleep more easily and improve the quality of sleep. * Hormonal Balance In addition, cold showers stimulate the production of testosterone, the hormone that regulates sexual potency in men and oestrogen, the hormone regulating fertility in women. Cold showers improve sexual function and strength. Strengthened Immune System/Faster Recovery Rate Our body's immune system also benefits and this has been proven by medical research. The number of white blood cells produced increases with regular cold showers, significantly decreasing the likelihood of catching a cold or viral infection. In hospitals in the Midlands in the UK, it has been proven that those patients who had cold showers were able to go home four days earlier than those that did not! In Chernobyl in Russia, they are actually encouraging people to have cold showers to keep their immune system active because the environment in which they live is so full of pollutants.

Thanks Jeremiah, I will send him an email, I would love to attend his seminar but I reside in Sydney, Australia, but on my next trip to the USA I will look him up. Dan

Jeremiah, where can I buy "Three Sources Shamanic Orbit". Dan

I am currently practicing the Lung Expansion Chi Kung from Michael Frosts book in which he recommends ending with the Orbit meditation to circulate the Chi accumulated during practice. My question is regarding what do you do once you have focused on all of the points along the spine and have also opened the functional channel by touching the tognue to the palate. Frost simply states now that the the 2 channels are open circulate Chi through the orbit, does this mean the orbit is now open so just still the mind and let the chi flow through the orbit autmatically, or do you use breath control techniques like the long sip to circulate the chi. I have been simply being aware of the chi flow and not forcing anything to happen. Daniel

I have a book titled "Eternal Spring Chi Kung" by C.K Chu which contains some Chi Kung postures which put you in a stretched or contarcted position in which you relax and breath deeply, Im really intrigued by this style of Chi Kung as its simple but still very powerful internally, Im wondering does anyone know of any specific Chi Kung material which contains this style of Chi Kung. Daniel

Yoda, Tao Yin sounds what I have been looking for, I have been playing around with the seated brocades but Im looking for something with more stretching involved. Does this book contain plently of stretches and is it a simple straight forward book and does it also have a daily set of exercises you are to follow. Dan
-
I have the Olson book and agree its a very detailed description of the 8 Brocades, thats why Im looking at Yang Ming Jwing's set to see if its a bit more simple and less time consuming.
-
Sean I have deleted the whole post, are you happy now! Jeez whats with all the censorship, I came to Taobums because thats where most of the ex HT forum members now discussed Qigong/Meditation in an open forum.. I will try not to mention M Winn again.... Daniel

Yoda Im also a big fan of cold water dousing, I believe its great for getting the blood and Chi flowing. Running cold water over the genitals is mentioned in many of the old time physical culture and bodybuilding programs of the early 1900s, big advocates were Charles Atlas and Steve Reeves. After running cold water directly over the genitals for 1-2 mins I find the cirluation and blood flow in that region to be stimulated and I believe it actually increases sexual energy, this is probably due to the hormane release that RJ is refering to. Cameron what game is that, I just got an Xbox the other day as well and Im buying games at the moment..
-
I'll try both out, but I like the idea of doing the sitting brocades and proceding straight into deep meditation.

My accupuncturist has had me on Cordyceps for about a year now and I have only been sick once in that year, even then the symptoms were half of what they would normally be. He swears by cordyceps and says they are the most sort after herb in the world. Try some. Daniel

Im pretty sure Da Liu passed away in 2000, maybe your thinking of another guy as Da Liu was a devoted Taoist his whole life.

Yoda, Jumrope is without a doubt the most effective cardio workout there is, you also get a good workout in your lower body as well as strengthen the muscles of your upper body, IMO musch better than running. Also what do you mean by Yoda can you also provide me with a simple Yoga book that outlines postures and beathing practices. Daniel

Stephen Chang is a big advocate of doing that as well. When doing my seated breathing exercises I have the heel of my left foot pressing against my perenium whilst my right leg is extended out in front. By doing this we are minimising energy leakage while we are incresing our Chi flow through the body, I also close my hands in to fists whith my thumbs inside the fist so that no energy will escape out of the fingers. All this is outlines in "The complete System of self healing". Dan

Does michael Winn sort of twitch or shudder when he speaks, on the DVD he is constantly sort of twitching and you also hear some weird noises on the audio as well. Anyone else notice this, if yes whats the deal with him.. Daniel
-
Everyone is different, some people like Winn some don't. I think he is too metaphysical for my liking and prefer a simpler straight forward approach. Daniel

I just found "Taoist Health Exercise Book by Da Liu" which seems to be what Im after, straight to the point simple taoist meditation and breathing exercises. I can't believe I spent money Michael Winns products, I was so disapointed in his CKF (1,2) , I think his products totally suck and are way to complicated, I hate all the formulas and think its really over complicated. To quote Lao Tse and Stephen Chang on Taoist techniques, "My way is simple and easy" Lao-Tse "And true Taoist methods are simple and easy" Stephen Chang. Daniel
