Aetherous, reading what Cheya pointed out about your misreading of 小夢想's post, I think you too will be in Mrs. Jones' class
  2. I would like to delete my account

Give me a delete button, and I will click! Why? "Love thy neighbor, but choose your neighborhood!"

I don't think anyone does qigong wanting low ability. I also think that everyone would agree that some systems probably do more for you than others (even if they might not agree which systems those are). I don't believe in destiny, fate, predestination, karma, or anything else like that. Perhaps I am a fool. (some would like to alter that sentence by one word)

Hmmm.......... I gave my reasons, split among two places on this thread, the second time specifically pointing out that it wasn't some sort of disagreement with an in-duh-vidual. We'll see you in September in Mrs. Jones' remedial reading class JimD, go have a qi burrito and walk your dog. PS I could have just signed up for another account if I had been able to delete. PPS Thanks to Cheya and 小夢想 and Earl Grey for making this site a whole lot better than it would otherwise be.

You have a profound ego problem.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
  7. Zhan Zhuang - Leg/Low back meridians - advice

Oops! My voltage question was already answered. EDIT 2: I ordered the book recommended, and another one on ions and health, through the library. I remember hearing about this decades ago, but never looked into it. Thanks 小夢想!
  8. I would like to delete my account

Perhaps earlier I was interested in those things
  9. How do you feel/sense chi?

But the OP specifically asked people not to do this. I do believe that your and my replies on this thread are not at all connected.

That is not what your PM suggested. There are people who have decades into this stuff who can't do squat, so it is not of any interest to me how long someone has been doing it. Can they do stuff? Some people play piano for many years and aren't any good (which is fine if they enjoy it), while others can play well in less time. You and someone else here keep talking about mirrors and projection which is a way of saying, "I know you are but what am I!" By that way of thinking, we can never disagree with anyone or think anyone is being anything. That's just silly. I came here about chee. I have no interest in Buddhism or Daoism (other than yin/yang and wuwei, which I think is all there is in Daoism anyway).

Some comments here, and one in a PM, have made me realize that at least before I listed out my grievances, some mistakenly thought I was leaving because of some spat with some one or some people. That is not the case. The number of dummies is the reason I was looking to leave. I don't see why one should have to wait till 200 posts to be able to control one's own thread. If I want to know about qi and someone wants to post about tacos on my thread, why can't I just delete his useless post? Just say at the start of the thread that this is a controlled thread, and Marblesinthehead can skip that one Otherwise, a thread that should have a few pages ends up with more than a dozen. Then no one reads most of it, thereby missing whatever useful information might be mixed in with several people's idiotic ramblings. A fourth item I could have put in my answer to Wilfred's question on page one is related to what 小夢想 has been saying: people talking about things they don't know about. Someone came on this thread who I had previously PMed about a practice he recommended on another thread. When I PMed him it turned out he does not really do that practice. He had done it a little in past. How ironic that he then comes to this thread to further confuse everyone. On my chee thread, there were people telling me to do things I had very clearly said I had tried (and had explained what the issues were). Some of them were supposedly experienced practitioners, one even a well known teacher, but their posts on that thread were drivel -- and they never had the integrity to respond about their false advice (arrogant Confucians!). I understand that for some people this is like going down to the pub and having a pint. The problem is that I am not the sort of person who goes down to the pub to have a point. I just don't feel I have that much time to waste. I have many interests, things that make me much happier than sitting on a stool in a smoky, loud room drinking poison with strangers. I come to a forum like this, or some forum that someone might want to start (any takers?), to be among other adults who are trying to do something. If I went to a forum for playing piano, I wouldn't want people posting about a "key of C sandwich", or telling me about some technique for learning chords that they themselves don't use or have never tried, or just wasting my time with drivel that has nothing to do with playing the piano. I would expect that people would only post if they had a certain level of knowledge or experience to go with their post. And if they don't abide by those rules, then for the sake of the integrity of the forum there needs to be a mechanism of ensuring quality control (warnings, deletions, et cetera). Otherwise a forum is just a pub full of pissed wankers.

    Looking forward to it!

I have no one on ignore. I don't intend to use that. There is one person I want to put on ignore, but the reasons are that few of his posts are on topic, and many are not even coherent.
  14. I would like to delete my account

You must come to TDB often
  15. How do you feel/sense chi?

That was what the other thread turned into
  16. How do you feel/sense chi?

I don't mean to cast aspersions at your friends, but who says they actually are feeling or sensing chee? I have read a number of teachers talk about this in different ways. That is, just because people think they are feeling or even emitting chee doesn't mean they are.

    Fair enough.

I keep completely rewriting my answer . . . third try: The only thing worse than trolls are real people who are as bad as trolls because they don't bother to read your post or have any critical thinking skills. Another thing is that for most people here, qi is a religion. They just believe it and get defensive if you ask about it. If I ask a weight lifter why he does a certain routine, he's not going to get angry at me. He'll tell me the rationale behind it. If he's been doing it a while he will tell me what tangible results he has gotten. That is not allowed with the qi-ists. There is also the problem of how much complete disagreement there is in the teaching and study of chee gong. What's worse, is that it is most often not even acknowledged as a real problem. One teacher says do it this way. Another teacher says whatever you do, don't do it this way. I can't think of another field where the most basic tenets are so disagreed upon. In other fields, the experts disagree about minutiae, not fundamentals. It's all just useless whining on my part, I know. But you asked why

I didn't know you were still here. Please accept my condolences on your teacher's passing.
  20. Xiang Gong - Fragrant Qigong

Posted in the wrong window and this forum does not seem to have a delete post function.
  21. Xiang Gong - Fragrant Qigong

Unfortunately the list is not necessarily in inverse proportion to how powerful the technique is, just how big the movement became combined with how politically dumb the group might have been (Falun Gong really shot itself in the foot). http://baike.baidu.com/view/13062897.htm
  22. Xiang Gong - Fragrant Qigong

Demands 5,000 people before he will see anyone? I don't understand what that means. Since he is trying to keep a low profile, and his system is one of only fourteen (plus one) specifically banned by name, I would guess 5,000 people would be a bad thing. Many things on the internet are untrue. But everything on the internet I can find, up until your post this morning, says Tian is deceased. Wouldn't I be a fool to say, "Oh, of course, all those web pages and forum postings by Xiang Gong enthusiasts in Chinese and English, from Taiwan and other countries are all wrong!" ? Thank you for posting your information. I will contact you
  23. Xiang Gong - Fragrant Qigong

I am not against Xiang Gong. I was initially attracted to it, but everything I read says what I mentioned in my previous posts on this thread. I would be happy to be proven wrong since it is such simple system to practice, I would love it. But everything I can find says what I have said, so please give me a little more than 'my teacher in Sydney says so', OK?
  24. Simplicity and Effectiveness of a Form

Tell me more, please. Was there a particular style of meditation that you found helpful?
  25. Simplicity and Effectiveness of a Form

The grand nephew of the founder gave you his unbiased opinion? That seems a little difficult, doesn't it? If it's more effective, why does he teach all those other systems? You said he teaches twenty different systems. The founder said if you do Xiang Gong, you can not do other systems as the qilu (氣路) is different from other systems. Maybe you could ask the grand nephew about that? I don't know anything about Anapana, but many qigong teachers think of zhanzhuang as the most important exercise for chee development. They say the problem is that most people don't want to just stand there. Also, they say chee gong facilitates the flow of qi to various places. I have no opinion.
