Yeah, I totally agree. I've read a lot about fasting the last few days. Do people do the one meal a day thing every day or just some times?

Sounds freaking powerful, what are some other practices you do?

WHAT?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?! so badically we should always be meditating? I also never know where to stop with that slow, silent, belly breathing. When do you decide when to stop? I have a few books to read in the near future. Do you have any other suggestions? Uh, I havent been doing any weights but I would usually dolatedal front and rear raise. They say that interior rotation is due to some back muscles. A guy on this forum said he'll help me correct it over webcam with dofferent exercises it when I get wifi.

I usually just lay down and meditate so I dont think about the heat. Meditsting ti me is just trying to focus on abdomen area and watching the breath come and go. The more I concentrste on it, the slower and quieter it is.

It's supposed to be good for the body in different ways. And it's nice and quiet. I feel really warm after using the sauna.

I answered what questions were presented to me, at least the majority of them. I am trying to make a routine. Basically I meditste in the sauna for 30 minutes per day and I do standing meditation (ZZ) once a day.

Virginia Beach, VA. I would like that very much. I had a breakthrough during meditation in the sauna. I was laying down meditsting snd I figured out if I concentrate on my LDT, I can do a concentrated silent breath in my abdomen that feels very healing and unveils parts of my life in a unique manner.

At one point I was filling my abdomen with air like forcefully all the time. This is probably not the best thing from what I've been getting at. It seems I should just breath naturally into my abdomen and maybe try to focus my attention in the LDT so that the breaths become slower and more relaxed. From having slightly hunched shoulders sometimes, when I try to exercise the shoulder joint rubs and becomes slightly sore the next day. I've read about it on the internet and I think its called interior rotated shoulder cuff. I just feel like its all interconnected. The slight tightness at the base of my spine and feeling of release in my upper back after a popping could be the reason my shoulder sometimes hurts. I feel like maybe tension gets released as my posture slowly gets corrected. Ive read poor circulation is a reason for that shoulder issue as well.

Hey guys, just wanted to gather some opinions on the topic of social media. No one has a thread on it that I know of. I used to use social media like facebook, twitter, and instagram (and even myspace back in the day). In the past year or so I've got some distance from social media deleting my facebook and instagram and using my twitter maybe once a week on average and not having it downloaded to my phone. On the other hand, my girlfriend uses twitter, facebook, and instagram daily. I feel like using social media creates people to think about other people, most of which are not currently in their lives. Based on what I've read in books and on this forum it seems thinking about something is putting energy into it, not sure if that's right. It makes me uncomfprtable knowing my girlfriend finds enjoyment in looking at hundreds of different people daily that she doesn't know or barely knows. So what you guys think of social media?

The whole neroscience thing feels like its putting age old techniques into a scientific category. The subject of Brahmacharya interests me greatly. Is there any reading materials that could help me understand this further?

Idk how to do that yet other than meditsting and this new Zhan Zhuang routine I'm trying to start up again

I was actually reading that thread yedterday after typing zhan zhuang into the forum. So I want to start standing teice daily again. As I said in some other threads, I have tightness in my lower spine and when I breath slowly, fully and forcefully into my spine, I can pull my shoulders back for a popping sound. Should I be trying to fix my abdomen like a ball with attempt to maybe release some of this tightness by spreading the breath out instead of a natural, more fast pased breath only trying to conventrste on the LDT?

Those videos are actually what got me stsrted with my ZZ practice about a year ago. I did it while in school for hours a day, but I would always walk around my dorm and then go back to 'holding the ball'. From what Ive read, most people do sitting meditation more than standing. I'm not sure what to with regards to all that. Do you do purposely slow abdominal breathing during standing or meditation or do you just put attention on LDT and breath in a normal pace?

I can get into that state where I can't hear my breath and once when I couldn't really feel it either. Should I be pulling and pushing the gut with inhales and exhales to create a slower, deeper, breath during meditation? Is it okay if when I do seated meditation, my body often rocks back and fourth? So any physical exercise works to get chi flowing? As in swimming, running, lifting, yoga, chi gong etc.? This makes sense because when my body is trasitionary it's like I'm looking out of it, but with physical exercise Im paying attention to it. But, when I meditate, Im looking into my abdomen. Any useful respurces text wise regarding this matter? Breathing and so fourth interests me greatly. I have a zhan zhuang book and a meditation book in the mail. Not sure if I should be doing zhan zhuang or not cause I stood for 5 minutes last night and my shoulder is slightly irritated. Should abomen breathing be done whenever possible or only in meditation?

Thanks for sharing, I feel pretty similar about it. I feel like there is a lot more stillness and 'natural breathing' while retenting than just thinking all the time and this is the stillness aspect. I'm considering doing brahmacharya. I read about it on another thread and it sounds really cool. It's based like celibacy in Hinduism. So far Ive retented like twice and the longest I've gone is ten days. The only problem is that my girlfreind is really attractive (to me). So if I decide to go down that path there will still be a lot to figure out.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice! I'll probably read The Way of Energy soon. I wanna get into Zhan Zhuang. Do you practice it? If so, do you think it will help my alignment? Seems like a nice introduction to chi kung.
