"This mystery object may be our first visitor from another solar system" "Is a comet? An asteroid? NASA's not sure. The space agency doesn't even know where it came from, but it's not behaving like the local space rocks and that means it may not be from our solar system. " Just went to the site because it's a strange effect. First guess would be ice/water on the lens or some sort of glare. They had the aperture set to f/3.5 which is wrong. Also the trees on the bottom are lighted up so there's a light source nearby that could cause glare. here's a similar one but not quite...

I relate Shaolin with very high level internal accomplishment mainly because Dr. Yan XIn, Master Chunyi Lin, Master John Tsai and also Master Wong Kiew Kit seem to be from Shaolin Tradition. Several Shaolin lineages makes sense.

Does this book mention anything about the Southern Shaolin Monastery?
-
This is a very interesting topic. I never liked the story about Bodhidharma precisely because he is said to have come from outside China. Why would this story exist? You guys are saying that all Shaolin internal practices are actually Daoist practices? Mudfoot, your practice of Shaolin Nei Jing Yi Zhi Chan is a Daoist practice?

Could you please elaborate on this? How would one define clairvoyance?

Effects and Signs of successful Jing Replenishment
KuroShiro replied to Wells's topic in Daoist Discussion
Do you guys remember the moment, when you were a child, you've realized death - that both your parents were going to die? Death is not a concept grasped by a baby, a child. I've read once that this can be considered the big moment, when you probably stop "being a child". I don't think it has anything to do with greed, attachment or fear... "The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb." -

Thank you. How can one ever discover the true body if there's a need for a teacher and with all the secrecy of Neidan? Is this so that the knowledge doesn't fall into the wrong hands? Is it about Good/Evil? Do your Neidan teachers have insights into the Great Philosophical Questions of humankind? -

The ever silent being you refer, is it the same as Spirit? Do you practice Neidan? If so would you say it would be impossible to practice it without a teacher? -

If I remember right the books I've read about Classical Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture state that we are born with a given amount of jing that cannot be replenished but can be "worked" with by making wise lifestyle choices. Do you know any C.C.M. book or Dr./Acupuncturist that talks about the possibility of replenishing jing? Where have you read/heard this? There's also this about the telomeres: https://www.theguardian.com/science/blog/2016/mar/03/could-meditation-really-help-slow-the-ageing-process -
Great thread! This has to be wrong, no? To me makes more sense the other way around. External alchemy seems to have picked up on the words used by inner alchemy? "Ignorant people who do not know this cast iron crucibles, build clay stoves, and fire metals and minerals, vainly imagining that they will form the elixir in this way." Liu Yiming

Wow I've never read about this. What about the ancient species such as spelt and einkorn? Weren't those the origin of today's wheat? Wikipedia talks about wild einkorn. I believe the Small Intestine also has a close relation to the Pericardium/Heart Protector. But yes Heart is yin S.I. is yang. And since all Organs are connected an injury on one might soon affect the others. Grains with or without gluten are not good choices (also depending on the amount/type of grains in the diet and the rest of the diet), if one hasn't a problem with them (digestion, bones/teeth issues...) that's great but I would bet their children or their future generations will.

What is your opinion about miso? I've read the fermentation takes care of the anti-nutrients. Great post. Also there are humans with digestion problems due to low stomach acid. It's usually misdiagnosed and mistreated by doctors. True about the mice, it has to do with their microbiome. It works similar in humans. Chinese Medicine says don't eat raw food or only very small quantities and depends on the food. You probably don't suffer from low stomach acid.

Celestial Master deification of incarnated Lao Tzu and the Great Yin
KuroShiro replied to voidisyinyang's topic in Daoist Discussion
Fascinating indeed. Can you please elaborate regarding the spiritual masters who can communicate with animals? The little I have read about Classical Chinese Medicine, it states that only humans have Shen, animals only have Jing and Qi. I don't know if this is true and if it has any significance regarding the spirit communication. -

I think this is a very important point. Focusing on buddhist vs daoist vs... is not the way to go. They're all part of the same source (?). Have you read the work of French author René Guénon? I haven't read it, yet... He proposed that there's only 1 Tradition, that later developed into different shapes in function of culture and religion. Now, who knows when/where/by whom/how did the Original Tradition originate? -

I've never read anything by Chomsky but my gut tells me he's overrated, like Freud whose oeuvre I also haven't read. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/22/books/a-new-book-and-film-about-rare-amazonian-language.html "In 2005 Dr. Everett shot to international prominence with a paper claiming that he had identified some peculiar features of the Pirahã language that challenged Noam Chomsky’s influential theory, first proposed in the 1950s, that human language is governed by “universal grammar,” a genetically determined capacity that imposes the same fundamental shape on all the world’s tongues." "Even some of Dr. Everett’s admirers fault him for representing himself as a lonely voice of truth against an all-powerful Chomskian orthodoxy bent on stopping his ideas dead. It’s certainly the view advanced in the documentary, “The Grammar of Happiness,” which accuses unnamed linguists of improperly influencing the Brazilian government to deny his request to return to Pirahã territory, either with the film crew or with a research team from M.I.T., led by Ted Gibson, a professor of cognitive science." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcOuBggle4Y https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirahã_language -

I think I understand the concept of entangled particles - http://www.npr.org/2017/07/14/537174817/scientists-teleport-a-photon-into-space Where can I read about the 720 degree spin? " My claim, and original idea, has been that this is circumnavigating a T'ai Chi (Yin/Yang) symbol! More recently (Oshins, 1993b) I have suggested that this proximate technique can be used to realize Wing Chun kung-fu's "bong sau/tan sau" movement out of the Kauffman/Oshins "quaternionic arm" discussed and referenced below in end note 5. " Where is note 5? thanks. -

I would say don't worry about the mind, let your thoughts run free and don't worry if you're not "meditating". The practice will "work" the mind and with time your thoughts will decrease not only when standing. You can start by watching TV, later on your body will ask you to turn it off. As it's been said worry about correct posture, relaxing and breathing. Also you might want start slow (3-5 min) and stick to 1 posture.

Can you please elaborate on this?

Wing Chun the art of drawing and undrawing lines In your concicous mind
KuroShiro replied to X2471990's topic in General Discussion
Very true but I wouldn't say paradoxically. The person becoming calmer, more peaceful is a natural result of training martial arts. However you have to have good character. My teacher draws a parallel to nuclear weapons, you don't want them in the hands of people willing to blow themselves up to kill others. You want them in the hands of calmer people where you know they'll only be used as a deterrent or last resort. Wouldn't be great there were no WMDs? Yes... Do you practice Wing Chun? -
In the book "Stone Medicine" by Leslie Franks (student of Daoist Master Jeffrey Yuen): "The images we have of saints and bodhisattvas all show them emitting an aura of white light, because they are able to absorb all of wavelengths of light (...)" "Those of us who have not yet achieved the level of the saints and bodhisattvas reflect the colors we are unable to absorb, which manifest as our auras." I don't know if this particular info was passed on by Master Yuen.
