  1. permission

not ever asked owners permission to post ..... I guess I have not really clearly paid attention I would just post in new corner section which seems to not be so accessible today...not sure why.. this is not a matter of insistence. maybe truly not necessary for me to post or maybe somedays I want to post whatever the hell I want something like this: werner herzog imminently beautiful video on netflix not sure of the title but it is about the tiaga of Siberia maybe something about a river possibly named Yeltsin not sure if that is correct. certainly it was not named after boris... certainly that river was flowing long before his reign in politics anyway: it has nothing to do with Daoism but pertaining to IMO the simply ways of living but necessary preparation and skill and work involved living in climate so inhospitable such as -50 degree temperatures-- all revolving around the ebb and flow of the river and the freezing and dethawing I like the skill and mastery of practice.....some now being extinguished because of alcoholism out of boredom... but the magnificent old ways of crafting canoes out of trees, designing skis to navigate on snow pack, and fishing techniques. and best of all no taxes! setting intricate traps for sable and other fur animals like ermine.. 50% of the population is trapping....thousands upon thousands of acres of land... peeling bark from trees to heat over fire to make tar as a natural repellent for the summer season and the swarms of mosquitos. so I so humbly ask permission to post in the forums or just say clearly no. please
  2. Trying to understand my shadow, need help

well in simplistic terms from my perspective on the help with the shadow thing is to bear in mind that in order to have shadow in the first place it means the sun is present. most people associate sun with good attributes.

  4. Cooking up a storm

avgolemeno 1 whole chicken (3.5 lbs) 12 cups water 2 carrots cut in half 2 celery stalks cut in half 1 large onion peeled and cut in half 2 bay leaves 5 black peppercorns 2 tsp. salt 1/2 cup orzo pasta or rice 3 eggs at room temperature 1 tsp fresh lemon zest juice of 2 lemons strained ----------------------------------------- add first 8 ingredients to a large stock pot. bring to rapid boil, lower heat to medium low and simmer partially covered for 1-1 1/2 hours. remove chicken and vegetables to a bowl-strain the broth fine seive return strained broth to stockpot and bring to boil add the orzo or rice and cook uncovered for 10-12 minutes while the rice is cooking prepare the egg-lemon mixture. using a whisk beat the egg until nice and frothy. add the lemon zest and lemon juice in a steady stream while continuing to whisk. when the rice has finished cooking turn off the heat. ladle about 2 cups of broth into a bowl or large measuring cup. slowly add the hot broth to the egg-lemon mixture while continuing to whisk. this will temper the eggs and prevent curdling once they are added to hot broth stir the egg lemon mixture into the pot and heat over very low heat for approximately 5-10 minutes until headed through. be careful not to boil the soup once the eggs have been added. adjust your seasoning for salt and pepper. add more if desired traditionally soup is served without the chicken or vegetables you can add them back or serve on the side. for me-I added the chicken back because I like the protein. and during the cooking after straining the vegetables I picked at the carrots. the second day of this soup was all melded together and the taste was great. lemon is very obvious bon appetite
  5. Buddhist View on Taoist Practices?

ok show me if you can an example in the tao de ching that makes reference to immortality. because while I read it very fast I do not recall anything that my eyes read across immortality. it is good to see that I do not go about things in logical conclusions. and that Taoism is far from anything I understand nor know. I study my back hillside yard, the interplay of creatures, branches, slices of night sky and clouds on sky in day. I value moss, dried bramble and the way the earth offers up its bounty...weeds or flowers, ferns, the changing seasons changes....
  6. well I don't really understand how your mind does its thinking or processing...because mine does its own thing over here. and I am not going to really use "MIND" as one conglomeration because that is just debate endless. I think I can grasp the conscious or collective conscious concepts. what I am pointing out is that I am understanding out of your words in this particular post is that the fluctuating mind is lying. here is what I think is funny....... I will probably never really understand your style of processing because I think we all live in our declared cookie cutter mind..... like today it is important for me to say that a branch that had fallen in the bramble as the perch is now laying on the grass.... is that relative to your world? is this lying mind? because it is monkey.... or the duck enjoyed my cracked corn.... I am comfortable within my blender of mental havoc. what I find daunting or untrustworthy is that somehow I need to suspend my beliefs and put trust in some notion such as some kind of Samadhi where there really is not mind or breath..... and then persue this mode of operation to bring about peace. or that I am offering up a genuine recicpe of edible food and I think someone is chiding me chicken. the soup is real I tasted it. I just made it....you don't want the ingredient list because you have no intention to make the soup. albeit it is cook or a gentle prodding. but what are my goals and desires what is my end game so to speak. under the branches of brambles is the horse head....I have mentioned that, and there is also a very tall firmly planted "y" underneath it. I took a photo of it this morning. just on my iphone. I bought a sketch book. and now I am going to go clean up my bathroom and bedroom because they are a mess after a long project at work and I don't have my dryer until Tuesday. briefly at the store( and I notice that I do this on occasion) suspend the mind a bit- in my own tricky ways...maybe pretend or just silly games. a few rows ahead of me at another check out lane was this woman.... I could only see the back of her head today....and I just watched inside myself for any bit of reaction to my though process,...... I want it to be who I want it to be...... now that is one hell of a monkey. chop wood and carry water
  7. disagree with you Marblehead on the said comment on the monkey mind and lying. so then it would equate to the meditative mind as non lying. but you are certainly allowed your thought processes over there. I do not take offense though. I am well aware of my own lies. monkey or not
  8. How to want to socialize?

exploring hobbies that I like and not forcing myself do go places that are not my thing I just mentioned to my mother last night I am so relieved and happy that I am not going to any party for the holidays. I just went to one a few evenings ago and I had no enjoyment and it was ridiculous that I attended. the greatest part of the evening was being strong enough to leave...in the past I have just vacillated in my own misery about wanting to go-this time I executed gone. I was invited over and over to stay for dinner-hassled and begged to stay----but I had my mind made up to just attend the beginning hour or so --I wanted to visit with a retired woman from new York who is sharp and sweet visiting some other retired friends(strong word) of mine. the cat veronica was amusing as well. she jumped onto the piano and investigated the gift I brought for the host. it kept nudging the twine handles. surely she could sniff percy scent. and the asparagus wrapped in a thin layer of filo dough was a nice addition to an arsenal of appetizers. thanks for your posts-because I can edify my own inner/outer workings

  13. Cooking up a storm

you can improvise and create and cook to suit your needs--- I strained it all and then put some chicken back in it--- I used the gathered strained ingredients and ate it later. however if I make it again in regards to my mother-I would need to leave the chicken out. it is difficult to chew with denture the chicken the traditional avgolemeno is that all ingredients are strained out----then toward the end of the cooking you beat the egg until real foamy and temper it slowly with some of the hot soup or it gets funky. then add it to the entire pot. it must be a thickening agent the deal here is probably creating your own fresh chicken broth...best tasting of course as opposed to being rushed for time and buying already prepared broth(even organic) from the store in paper cartons. so decide what amount of time you want to spend in the kitchen for me I pick the day that I feel like making the traditional recipe and spent the time to do so..... made a mistake as well in buying a whole chicken(which the recipe called for) but my whole chicken was more weight than the recipe called for so I began to just cut raw pieces off the whole bird... I could have just had the pieces cut for me--- or buy just sections.... nonetheless the soup is really really good. substitutes as well for rice, pasta, orzo... I just used basmati because I like rice the best.
  14. Cooking up a storm

soups are always a great treat on a cold winter day. one of my favorites in the past was Avgolemeno. Its a Greek soup. Have not had it since moving away from a particular restaurant. Decided to make it a few weeks ago. its chicken broth base. I first cooked fresh chicken with celery, carrot and bay leaves, onion...then later strained it all out then add with lemon, egg and rice. sorta like greek chicken noodle soup. very lemony and pretty tasty. I am sure alterations are possible for vegetarians here. you could use vegetable broth instead and surely drop two eggs.
  15. The delusion of Lust

I have not read any of the above posts. I thought I would sharp shoot right out quickly with my own ramblings on what comes to mind about delusion of Lust. I would not refute that I have figured out my own trap of Lust. It is much easier to see the forest from the trees once you have arrived to the desert-then looked back at the forest. ok I will admit there were times where I guess I was ruled by Lust. I think I prefer to say that under my own circumstances-and the circumstances vary....the word to describe was Lust, albeit though certain times seemed loving and genuine...love was just as possible there as well as lust. It sounds so biblical though and so wrong. I was driven by sexual desire. I was excited to generally get the kids to bed and sleeping and go make love to my very sensual and sexy partner at the time.orgasm was stress reliever and I personally enjoyed affection, closeness, and touching...... looking back I am sure some of it was not worth the hassle within the situation. other hobbies at the moment..enjoy the backyard bird feeders. less complicated mostly. fun to see the birds come and go. little habits now like how some sparrows for instance will hope foreward and then push leaves back flying in the air. or maybe when they are at the feeder that they will have a send off scowl toward other birds at the feeder. ok now I can go back and read...... not sure how one goes about dialing back the senses and then go live in ecstasy......which is no where I intend to go. and why oh why do we want to go around with undulating orgasms up our legs? why be concerned with our tight psaos and our tremoring......do I give a damn about it.... you see I don't really give a damn

  17. Monkey Mind

I just watched on Netflix not too many evenings ago a dana carvey comedian. he was made famous by his " church lady" on SNL very funny and very good with voices---recreating them. he did a spoof on a conversation between paul McCartney and john lennon. one of these days I will have to teach myself the basics of posting/uploading here at the dao bums he did both voices quite well. but for now I just had to let it go because I am knee deep at the finale of a very arduous project at work.

  22. Everyone post some favorite quotes!

well from my little understanding of cats-- they can fend for themselves with hunting for their own food. I am sure some get very domesticated and made to be indoor pets along with declawing and striped of their own innate skills. how are you giving your cat total freedom? this is how I give my cat total freedom. I just grin in delight that on our Christmas tree again for the second or third year is a glittery dill pickle! I kid you not! the cat likes the tree
