Wow great conversation! Our motivation to âevolveâ should come from within, anyway. There were many who rejected Jesus, despite the fact they were in the presence of a Master, they did not know it. We see in people what we perceive to have inside of ourselves. Will anyone who does not acknowledge they are divine.... see the divine in someone else? I think both viewpoints are correct, depending on how you look at things. The cosmic joke being the paradox of all things.

It was more my mind getting caught up before hand. During the actual event, I was quite relaxed and having fun. But anxious leading up. The point of my post was everything is peachy until faced with a challenge that hits on our energy structures... it's a quick reminder that there's more work that needs to be done. These things are ultimately beneficial. They are the flipside to the "bliss" experienced... the yin to the yang... an opportunity for growth. And these things keep us from falling into our egos and thinking "i am done, i have arrived". To me that is something like bypassing, or even a concept of mind. My own experience is a blending of the two ideas being talked about here. I would call it a "Straight Path", where the Goal is the path, and the path is the goal. If the goal is union with God, well the practice is to realize you are already one with God. But to simply tell ourselves this is a concept... we have to dive in and explore and find out for ourselves...which for me has been a long process that will never end, as there's always more to discover -
I've recently gotten interested in some pu-erh and oolong, and the intricacies of brewing gung fu style. I really enjoy it and I would drink it all the time if possible, but I am very sensitive to caffeine it seems and any more than once in the morning and once in the afternoon, really seems to disrupt my balance... I find I yawn more and sometimes more jittery. Right now I'm working through some "Plum Nectar" Red Oolong from Taiwan Sourcing...

I had to give a speech in front of a crowd today. The fear was there! Iâm definitely not awake then! 𤣠They say public speaking is #1 fear, even beating out the fear of death. -
Whose thoughts do I think? Whose food do I eat?

My girlfriend and I played the game âMindballâ at the Denver Science Museum once. This game has you put on a headset and try to âquiet your mindâ. Whoever has the lower brainwave readouts will push a rubber ball towards your opponents side. Fun stuff. I had finally found a game that I can actually win! Sometimes I wish my brain had MORE thoughts ...- 25 replies

Depends what kind of substances we're talking about, I guess. The OP didn't specify. However, I can't in good faith, let someone walk down the path of destruction without saying "Maybe you should think twice before walking that way. I took that path, it does not end well." Is letting someone curiously walk to their demise...really celebrating freedom, happiness and psycho-spiritual benefit? Maybe I'm wrong... but OP talks a lot about "addiction" in the post. Methinks he's not referring to a weekend of psilocybin exploration.

Yes, it's a slippery slope. I lived as you did, once. "Allowing drugs to come and go in my life." You think you have control, until one day you realize you don't. And at that point you're in too deep. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones, like me. Years will go by, thousands of dollars later... You will have missed the best years of your life. You'll be weak and sick and broke. Many friends you had will be dead, or in jail. But maybe you'll find someone who helps you, gets you back on your feet. You clean up your act, finally find a reason worth living. You're actually enjoying life now, without drugs. You are free of the prison you created for yourself. You may even find a special someone and marry. But then you'll wonder if you'll end up dying many years before them, because of what you put your body through. You try to live healthy, to exercise and eat good food. Take your vitamins. But you know all that shit you did couldn't have been good for your heart and your organs. What you squandered and didn't care about at one time, is now very precious, it's a gift to you. That's the best case scenario... A slippery slope indeed. I can't do it all over, though. All I can do is write this post.

My view on drug addiction is similar to psychologyâs view: How much does it impact your daily life? We could take it to a deeper level though. Maybe your able to hold a job down, pay your bills and function well enough. But do you think about it all the time? If the answer is yes, I would say itâs only a matter of time until it starts impacting your daily life.

Aetherous, were your results different from what you thought they would be?

I remember reading about how they solved a decades-old murder cold case because the killer sent his DNA into one of these websites. https://www.vox.com/2018/4/27/17290288/golden-state-killer-joseph-james-deangelo-dna-profile-match

That's too bad. He had good posts... 10 years worth. I wonder why ? It's one thing to leave a forum, but think of future members who may benefit from your posts.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4 This verse really speaks to me. Thinking that suffering is needless and pointless causes us aversion, causes us to reject our suffering, and only try to alleviate it. While this is a natural reaction, let us reflect on our suffering as helping us to grow - that there is a purpose for all things, which we may not understand at the time. That our pain and trials are not needless, but an important part of helping us become "mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Is There Enough Information On The Internet How We Can Become Immortal?
Fa Xin replied to AstralProjectee's topic in General Discussion
I feel an immortality option may be available soon -- in order to counteract the rising student loan debt. The irony is you'll probably have to take out a loan to get the immortality... -
Should we not conflate the paramÄrthika (absolute) with the vyavahÄrika (relative)?
Fa Xin replied to dwai's topic in General Discussion
"One cannot run away from the world and call oneself âliberatedâ. True liberation should happen while living in the world. The Daoist masters call the sage âin the world but not of itâ. If we cannot maintain our abidance as the Nondual Self amidst the trials and tribulations of samsÄra, we cannot be free. So, the world, should be our laboratory, where we become the absolute and âdisappearâ the relative, over and over again. Not seeking separation and duality, but rather oneness via unconditional love, for every singe being (and even thing) is nothing but our own Self." Nicely put Dwai ! My own studies seem to confirm this, too. -
My meal plan to treat my Yin deficiency - what do you think?
Fa Xin replied to Phoenix3's topic in Healthy Bums
I'm curious if you crave any of the foods you listed naturally? Not saying you should be, or shouldn't be ... but I'd be interested in your response. I've found myself craving fruits at various times of my life ... sometimes when I've been sick I've craved strange things, and wondered if it relates to yin/yang properties. Good luck -

Luke put it nicely... I'm not into the style of music, but it was very unique and unexpected. Thanks for sharing. It reminds me of the Master Ren GuangYi instructional Chen style DVDs that had the background music done by Lou Reed (a student of Ren GuangYi) Music and martial arts goes together nicely.
