  4. Story of Atlantis Part 2 - Conquest of America

There's a show on History channel, the new "In Search of..." that recently had a two part series on Atlantis. It was cool because they used the description of Atlantis from Plato and explored various possibilities based on Plato's clues. One possibility they suggested was the Minoans. Some of the clues matched, others did not. I've also heard it suggested that it could've been the East Indies.
  5. I've heard it said that such tempting spawns a greater calling for a return to God. Whether or not such a being is aware that they are operating as a tool for the divine is unclear... but to think anything is completely "separate" from God is an illusion in my view. Even the most vile creatures are still part of God, and play a role in the divine play. I can't think of any stories to back up my view... so take it as UPG
  6. Forgiveness and Condemnation

Does your inner work have nothing to do with others?
  7. Forgiveness and Condemnation

For me, it's more about freeing myself from the burden of carrying around bitterness. Good idea
  8. Forgiveness and Condemnation

I, too, have practiced loving-kindness and find it helps in empathizing with others. Empathy to me, is recognizing what is in you, is the same as that which is within me. I think empathy has a lot to do with forgiveness... the ability to put yourself into another person's shoes, and realize we "all have sinned and fall short"... that their situation maybe is not so different from ours at one time or another. I've heard it said that "If you hate others for the evil they do, you are bitten by the same venomous snake as them." Something about that sticks with me... Or as my mom used to say, "Two wrongs don't make a right"
  9. Forgiveness and Condemnation

Great topic and well put! This, in my opinion, is one the highest teachings of Jesus... the forgiveness of everyone for everything. I’ve found not an easy thing to practice...but definitely worth continued contemplation. Another thing that comes to mind: when I condemn or blame someone for something... it usually weighs heavy on my heart afterwards - even if they were “in the wrong.” I carry it with me. Perhaps this is one small example of the measure coming back to me.
  10. Great story! Thanks for sharing. My view of the story is sometimes the universe or, in this case God, has other plans for us. There will be subtle cues that try to steer us in the right direction... sometimes we can pick up on those cues and other times not. If Balaam was more sensitive to such things, perhaps he would have listened to his old friend the donkey. But his ego got in the way ("make me look like a fool") The angel tells him "You are stubbornly resisting me" How could he resist that which he does not see? I think it has more to do with resisting God (the universe's plan) and following your Ego.
  11. Qigong or taichi?

Good advice. I do both, sometimes I’ll be feeling more Tai chi and other times a quick 5 min qigong.

What do you think the end sum of such transformational practices is though? A Continuation of anger?

  16. Surf's Up !

Thanks for the reply. The things you listed above sounds like someone who is repressing and avoiding their anger, in which case I would agree, that is not healthy.
  17. Surf's Up !

Not sure why “No anger” is “fake”. As long as you're not suppressing it. I think the more clear a person is, the more one is aware that anger is not really necessary in interacting with others. Usually it gets in the way (in a big way). I would even say an anger response is usually based on one’s own internal conflict of the situation.
  18. Surf's Up !

    Route 666 or bust?
  19. Welcome Post

The reason why there’s many meditation techniques is because everyone is different and they have different goals and what approach suits them best. The skills your after such as reading thoughts and seeing auras usually are considered “siddhis” (powers) and are not the goal in themselves, but rather sometimes a biproduct of some spiritual training. If I had to give you any advice it would be to start by being aware of your body and the feelings in it. Your emotions, your thoughts and if you can feel it, the energy running through it. The “spirit world” is very subtle and requires a quiet mind in order to access. One thing you could try that may expedite things is to find someone who does reiki or some energy healing work... that can help draw your attention to the subtle feelings. Cheers

The paranormal stuff is what first drew me to seeking the spiritual side of life many years ago. It is a fun journey. Falun is banned in China for more political reasons, from what I understand. There's a few practitioners on here, maybe they'll pop in. 23. Tantra...

Was doing some tantric work with Kali today. About 30 minutes in, her form changed completely for me. I’ve been working with Kali for a couple years now, and generally perceive her (via the minds eye) one of two ways. This is now a third. A few thoughts on this. It felt like I had gone deeper than previously before with her, and she revealed a new (and more personal) image to me. I’ve found that with this new image, the connection is a lot stronger now. Just thought I’d share... I’ve found tantric practice to take on a life of its own. It may start one way, and morph and transform as we go along.
  24. First experience of Mantak Chia at Tao Gardens

Yes I think this is a good point. The 10 day retreats will turn you down if you have some potential health issues. I think 10 days straight for anyone who’s not a regular meditator is a lot to handle, regardless of health issues.
