Dear Nungali, Honestly, brother (I'm assuming that you're a guy), I've not done any spell work since the 1980's! However, if I thought that it might actually help with the above matter, I *might* consider it. I did some witchy stuff back in 2002, but it was 'attuning stuff', not spell work. I think that if I do some personal work on myself, it *might* help the whole thing happen in a good way! But I turn 65 on Samhain (Nov.1), and it'd be really nice to have some lovely lady to celebrate it with! No, no spell work enclosed, just a Heart Wish. Might be near to THAT though! You decide! Peace, Differently Abled Daoist

My Friends in Dao, I've got to go out and about tomorrow morning, but I'll post my entry on Chapter/Verse 2 on the TTC, sometime after noon. OK? I thought about doing it tonight, but I'll wait until tomorrow after noon. Thanks for bearing with me! D.A.D.

1 The Tao that can be told of is not the eternal Tao; The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The Nameless is the origin of Heaven and Earth; The Named is the mother of all things. Therefore let there always be non-being, so we may see their subtlety, And let there always be being, so we may see their outcome. The two are the same, But after they are produced, they have different names. They both may be called deep and profound. Deeper and more profound, The door to all subtleties! This is from Terebess Asia Online collections of the TTC/DDJ. This is from Wing-Tsit Chan. I'm going to post this, and then type out the Feng/English TTC, is that OK with everyone, please excuse me for being lazy, but it's 6:00 AM, and I have not had Tea yet (lol). I'll comment after I post the next segment translated by Feng/English. "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao. The name that can be named is not the eternal name. The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth. The named is the mother of ten thousand things. Ever desireless, one can see the mystery. Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations. These two spring from the same source but differ in name; This appears as darkness. Darkness within darkness. The gate to all mystery. Chapter/verse 1 Feng/English Here is what occurs to me, and please bear in mind that I'm a night time person, but I'll do my best at approx. 6:15 AM. It seems pretty obvious here (to me) that the Tao that we are speaking about is NOT, nor can it be, "the eternal Tao". So our attempts to try to describe Tao are just that: attempts, and the same goes for "the nameless" (which I take to be similar, if not the same, as "the eternal Tao"). Our bumbling attempts to speak about something that is *beyond language* (any language....including Chinese) are just that, attempts. And at the same time (or perhaps a wee bit later lol) we also find out that *the named* "is the mother to the ten thousand things". That's *everything* for us folks! But in the next verse we find out if we remain "desireless", we can see the mystery. This is something very substantial in my mind. The mystery seems here in this verse, to be "a doorway" to us "seeing" (*understanding* the Tao). I COULD be wrong here, but I don't think so. I don't know about you guys, but I have quite a bit of "desire". I could name all of them, but if you go back and read some of my earlier posts, at least two of them (earlier posts) express, one of my Heart's desires. Maybe only when I work out those desires [ and some other stuff] (or at least THAT desire) will that Heart place be fulfilled. (Please excuse me for being a bloody romantic here!) But then ole Laozi springs on us that desireless, and desiring, "spring from the SAME source" but clearly, they differ in name. "This appears as darkness". I'm gonna spring back here on some old knowledge (perhaps useless, but perhaps NOT). Laozi gets into this much further, in a future verse, but perhaps darkness is a face of Something, or Someone. He (Laozi) further states: "Darkness within darkness. The gate to all mystery." THE "gate" to ALL mystery. I believe that I know what or whom (Whom), he (Laozi) means. But let's save this for the future (which we of course believe that there will always be plenty of........). This is my best shot at verse 1. Please don't take anything that I might say here as real knowledge, it's just my speculations, on the Great Mystery. And that's ALL! ;-) Peace in this day, and may our future bring Peace. OK, I'm tired tonight, but let's start tomorrow. And whoever wants to post verse 1/chapter 1, feel free. If there's nothing here when I get up tomorrow morning, I'll post verse 1/chapter 1. Probably along with my comments. I honestly should not have watched that stupid debate last night. I was up till 4 O'Clock in the AM listening to 'Coast to Coast', after that. First time that I've stayed up till 4:00 AM in a very long time! A Peaceful night/day to everyone! D.A.D.

You know Luke, I'm gonna vote for everyone *below* the President and Vice President. I'm from Arkansas. Hillary (and Bill) have had people literally *murdered*. 2 Arkansas State Policemen. One of these two Arkansas State Policemen was a personal witness to her French (Gallic) kissing Vince Foster in the back seat of an Arkansas State Police car. And he's DEAD. As is Vince Foster, the attorney who she worked with at The Rose Law Firm. He was murdered too. Her affair with Foster was common knowledge in Arkansas, by the Arkansas Press and media. Foster very likely was murdered in D.C., but his body was dumped in a Virginia Park. That night there was a very heavy dew in that part of Virginia, but his shoes had not one sign of that dew. His body was moved *after he was murdered* with an *antique* pistol, who's bullet COULD NOT BE TRACED. I'm convinced that Hillary either pulled the trigger, or KNEW WHO DID. Hillary is an evil person. Period. so is Bill. And that's just *the start* of what these two have been up to in their past. Now, some other President's MAY have been murderers too. But if so, I did not vote for them. I will NOT vote for Hillary, nor for Trump, as I think that he's crazy as a mad hatter. Just vote for those below the President and Vice President part of the form, that's what I'm gonna do. A little comedy to end this sad note: When Bill Clinton was President elect, and his last press conference was held in Little Rock, Arkansas, do you know what the media played as his 'entrance song', to said gathering? Friends in Dao, I'm glad to say that I got 'These Daoist Bones' by Gu Shen Yu today. If you like poetry, especially about Dao, then you'll love this little book. I looked before I came here to write this, at Lulu.com, it's on sale there for $11.99, I believe. And I *think* that you can download the PDF file for $3.00. If you get it at Amazon.com (I can't buy from Amazon because this hacker pursuing me has multiple Amazon.com accounts in my name..........I'm the only person in the whole USA with my first and last name, although there are a few people in Britain with my first and last name also......Amazon.com is worthless in dealing with hackers!!) it's gonna cost you! Or it cost my friend, who I paid to get it for me. Like $22.99, plus $3.99 for shipping. It's only got a total of 158 pages. It's 4 and a half inches wide, and almost 7 inches tall, less then 1 inch in diameter thick. I used to work for a printing company for many years. This book probably cost maybe at most $2.00 to $3.00 to make. Don't let Amazon.com rip your ass off. Get it from Lulu.com while it's on sale, or better yet, download the PDF file. I don't know percentages enough to tell you what a up mark on money that if it costs $3.00 to make, what getting $23.00 (almost) to sell it is. But it's a LOT! We are in this TOGETHER. In this Daoist thing, I suppose that a Daoist can be a capitalist, but I'm not sure, just how that works. How DOES that work? lol Oh well, there goes my chance to ever publish a poem in that Daoist online e-zine..............but since I think that capitalism REALLY SUCKS, it's probably worth it! ;-) The poetry here IS very well done, I could joke and say that I like my poetry rare, but that might be way outta of line! No, it REALLY IS great poetry, you CAN feel Dao from it, it permeates the whole book in fact. Now, if we can work on Amazon.com, and get them to stop ripping people off, but since that's been the way of Amazon.com for many, many years, I doubt that things will change tonight, or anytime soon! Keep on Daoing, Differently Abled Daoist

OK, I'm off till tonight, everyone have a good day! Peace, D.A.D.,

Trump brought this up. She (Hillary) DID NOT refute it. If it wasn't policy, she WOULD HAVE. My guess is, in some (PUBLIC) technical military journals this has been policy for a long time. But not totally an 'open' policy either, just one that is buried in some publicly accessible military journeys. But I'm giving my opinion here, could be wrong, but I doubt it. Peace, D.A.D.

Perhaps I need to try and clarify here. I'm NOT talking a 'chat' here, but only of posting to the Dao Bums board here. Just let me know when you guys wanna get started, and we'll go from there. OK? Thank you, D.A.D.

Trump LEARNED THIS in his briefings that he's gotten as of late! Obama and Hillary BOTH already KNEW this! D.A.D.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis, I remember when the Principal of Robert E. Lee Elementary called us all into the auditorium, and told us that if our parents could not get to our school, that we'd hide in the basement lunch room, block up the windows with books, and I distinctly remember one girl asking if we'd have to possibly drink out of the toilets. He answered 'Yes'. The nearby U.S. Air Force Base was at that time a SAC (Strategic Air Command) Base. With mostly B-47 bombers, and sometimes B-52 bombers flew out of there as well. Here's the kicker. As they say out West. Jacksonville Air Force Base (now called 'Little Rock Air Force Base') was only 22 miles from Little Rock, AR. There were the beginning of Titan II missile base's all over the Ozark Mountains, and The Missouri-Pacific Rail Road terminal (a major fix it up sight for the diesel engines that pulled the other train cars), was just across the Arkansas River in North Little, AR. Even IF Little Rock, Arkansas wasn't hit, which in an all out nuclear exchange, it WOULD HAVE BEEN, we were only 22 miles away from the Air Base, and probably 10 or 12 miles away from the train 'garage'. In those days, when war heads were all going for 'the big bang', Little Rock, AR. would've been complete rubble, but I thought that scaring us kids shitless, was better than doing nothing. The Russians would've probably used at least two missiles ground burst on the Air Force base, one on the train depot, and probably one missile air burst above Little Rock (which is what the Hiroshima bomb was, an air burst). Bye, bye Arkansas, bye, bye Little Rock. But to put on a brave face for little kids, I still think that it was the right thing to do. Each active Titan II missile base in the Ozarks, on up through Missouri and Kansas (Remember the movie 'The Day After', all filmed in Kansas) would've each had a missile ground burst right on top of it. You've could've kissed all of the South and Midwest 'goodbye'. It would've been the end of the world, literally. Only some of insects would've survived. I'm really sorry for being so graphic here, but that time in the auditorium, I still think about from time-to-time. It would be far worse with today's weapons, which are technically far more precise almost all of which are MIRV'S (Multiple Re-Entry Vechicles---which means each missile can carry numerous independent warheads, for various targets). If you want some idea of this, the Australians remade the movie 'On The Beach' in the year 2000. If you don't mind being really frightened, it's a *great* movie. The Aussies did this the same year that they FORBID any other country to bring nuclear weapons into Australian ports. But now there is a pretty large contingent of U.S. Marines stationed there, to deal with any outbreak of hostilities with China, you can kiss most of Australia 'goodbye' too. To even *THINK* of using such weapons, as a first strike weapon is completely MAD! And THAT'S what the current administration (Obama) is thinking about. Indeed, "The world I fear is in the hands of fools" (from an old King Crimson song). We must stand up and loudly say "NO!" to this madness. I think that Hillary will now win, and she's for this 'first strike' policy too! MADNESS. For PEACE, Differently Abled Daoist

Well, that's lovely. Hello to everyone! Thank you all for replying! I feel hung over, after some more destruction of America (oh I'm sorry, I mean't to say "debate" ) Well, if I could get a consensus from each of you as to which is the best time(s) for you. It'd be simply wonderful to have study partners! I'm a bit of a night owl, but really you tell me what works for each of you, and I'd be glad to try to get us a time that works for everyone. Let me tell you what I'm dong right now. It's really pretty simple. I read first of all from Wing-Tsit Chan's TTC and then the version that's easiest for me to understand the TTC by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English, and if I'm still lost to any degree I read Paul J.Lin's TTC with a commentary by Wang Pi (which I believe is the same person as Wang Bi). But that's not often that I get lost, or simply fail to understand the first two versions of the TTC (but sometimes ). Please let me know what days and times are best for each of you, and maybe we can start with verse 1/chapter 1, and just go from there, it might interesting if we have a variety of translations, but if we need to discuss that, I'm open just let me know. Thank you all so much for replying! I'm delighted to have some study partners for a change! 'S' Wonderful' as Diana Krall might sing! Peace, and please have a really good day! D.A.D.

As King Crimson sang.........."in the hands of fools"

Dear Friends in Dao, I will say one thing......it's a sad thing to see a once great nation like the USA, beginning to die. Tonight (during the so-called 'debate') is the first time that I've actually heard about America thinking of using nuclear weapons as a tool of first strike. I used to have line from an old King Crimson song taped to my refrigerator "The world I fear, is in the hands of fools." That's how hearing this little piece of "news" made me feel. What is the energetic cost of practicing Magic?
Albion replied to smallsteps's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Dear Nungali, You mentioned doubting (I believe) the Kabbalahistic foundations of some parts of older pre-Gardnerian magic. What I'll term 'the Old Craft'. I found this after our last discussion here on Dao Bums. It's really quite long, but it is very fascinating. Take a listen, and see what you think: P.S. I thought the stuff being done at the Orkney's was beautiful! Thanks for that link! I throughly enjoined it! D.A.D. -
What is the energetic cost of practicing Magic?
Albion replied to smallsteps's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Dear Nungali, In the 12th Century there was a Norman invasion in Britain. They brought with them their gods and goddesses. The ancient churches there still show this. The Green Man, the Sheila na-geigh, phallic symbols, and other things carved in ancient churches in Britain (and Ireland too I *think*). But the 12th Century is a long ways from the days when the stone circles, and standing stones, and places like New- grange in Ireland were built. Could there be something left in the 16th or 17th centuries, some bits of Norman oral tradition, left from the Normans? I find it to be extremely doubtful. Whenever I mention "wiccans", "wiccans" came out the 1940's and the early 1950's. Even "wicca" as a word was invented by Gardner, and maybe Valiente. 'Wica' (one 'C') meaning 'wise' in the Saxon language. But wica is NOT "wicca". Do I think that "Old Craft" people perform their rites at the old sacred places? Yes, they do. But how you got it that I said "wiccans" built Stone Henge, gee's that beats me! And if things are still like they were many years ago, there's NO love lost between the Old Craft people, and "wiccans". Anyway, that's about it. No one really knows *who* the people were who built places like Stone Henge and New Grange. At least that's how it was years ago. Built honestly, I've not kept up with the current research on the megalithic peoples. Peace, D.A.D. -
What is the energetic cost of practicing Magic?
Albion replied to smallsteps's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Here is what I found. A lot of people on some pretty serious power trips. Pretty shitty people. Most (almost all) of whom were liars. That is, wanting power over OTHER PEOPLE. And who would not, or could not, tell the truth. That sucks. If there is (ANY) truth to Old Craft (pre-wiccan-Gardnerian) stuff, it's this. It's usually Kabbalistic, or Ceremonial Magic (as a foundation) and it still wants power over other people, that still SUCKS. And I *seriously doubt* that it goes back beyond the 17th Century. I'd like to believe that there are oral traditions, that is, that was not written down, in very out of the way places in the Scottish Highlands, and Ireland, that are far older, then any silly ass "wiccan" stuff. But even if there were (are), they don't go back to the people who built the standing stones, as some would have us believe. Nice faery tale, too bad it's NOT true. And even those people still wanted POWER OVER OTHER PEOPLE. That still SUCKS. Crowley was a heroin addict. That's a fact. "..........Love is the law, love under will." D.A.D. -
I didn't mean to bring this wonderful word discussion to a halt. I feel/felt that Yoda embodies a lot of these word ideas. Sorry if I squashed it. NOT my intention. Honestly. Differently Abled Daoist

Crowley died addicted to heroin, in an 'Old Folks' home in Hastings, England. He was supported finically by both British and American members of the O.T.O. It is said (and I believe this to be true) that he (Crowley) contributed heavily to the Gardnerian "Wicca" Book of Shadows. He was paid well to do this by Gardner. Gerald Gardner was introduced to Alister Crowley towards the very end of Crowley's life, by Patricia and Arnold Crowther. Crowley claimed to have left Witch Craft early in his life, because "He didn't like to be bossed about by women". Most (but not ALL) of this comes from Patricia Crowther's book: 'Witchblood'. Which I think is out of print. "Wicca" is nothing like the old Traditional Craft before it. Peace, and I don't answer any questions about this part of my life, in case anyone wonders. Thanks, D.A.D. -
If you find that Place of "Forever Young"...............You let me know, OK? Peace, D.A.D.

Have any of you ever seen the original 'Highlander' movie? What is this Daoist fascination with living forever? Your friends and Loved ones all die, you live to see the world get worse. It's gotten way worse since I was a kid, and I'm 64 now. I've never understood this, why Daoist's want to live to be ancient. I know that this "Immortal thing" is just another part of Daoism, but really Immortal, means that you NEVER die. I'm with Connor MacLeod (I may have spelled it wrong....it's supposed to sound like 'McCloud') 'Who Wants To Live Forever'??? This is probably a raw place that I've touched here, sorry about that. Daoing, Differently Abled Daoist "Who DARES to Love Forever?" P.S. Funny, most Daoist's despise the idea of Life AFTER death, but they want to BE "Immortals". That's beyond my understanding!
