  1. Potent Systems

Earlier this week I learned the shamanic tiger qigong form from Wu Zhongxian's dvd. It's a tough form to learn and somewhat physically challenging, but I'm very impressed. Shoulder tension from a desk job that has given me a headache at least once a week and almost every day for the past fortnight, has seemingly been cured through the form's excellent rotator cuff exercises. But the best thing is that it leaves a profound sense of deep peace that lasts all day. Really happy I found it
  2. Pretty new here and very low energy and sick.

I was in a similar boat to you a couple of years back (I'm 32 now). New dad and all the toll that can have on your energy levels and relationship expectations. If I were you I wouldn't demand so much of yourself. Make one small change and stick with it for 21 days. Then add another. Perhaps you'd like to learn shamanic tiger qigong by Wu Zhongxian, which is excellent for strengthening energy levels and a modest workout in itself. Maybe the next month swap out your breakfast for a green smoothie. Maybe after that commit to reciting one mala (108 repetitions) of 'om mani padme hum' every morning, or a 20 minute meditation practice. Gradually you'll see your energy levels and quality of life improve. It's admirable you're jumping in with a keto diet straight away, but it could be too radical a change and the fact you felt sick is a sign of that. Especially with a young family and all the tiredness and stress that can sometimes bring, it's sometimes important to be kind to yourself and make gradual improvements. Best of luck with it all bro
  3. Martial Arts From Home

I found that some martial arts can be learned from home while others are impossible. I taught myself karate over a year or two, constantly stopping mid-kata to examine my stance, weighting etc. When I went to a school to train the teacher said he thought I had a dan rank. Sadly many Japanese schools won't recognise home study and still require you to take the standard belt path with minimum requirements on class attendance. Other martial arts are next to impossible and it's easy to injure yourself with incorrect form, bagua for instance.
  4. The Heart opens Everything

I thought I had known love many times throughout my life. Many relationships that eventually pass and leave wounds. But it's only since I had a child that I realised I had never fully loved another human being before. I mean selflessly love, without an ounce of calculation. I would say, and correct me if I'm wrong, a parent's love for a child is a higher kind of love than the love between a man and a woman. I would say the love of a Buddha for sentient beings in delusion is a higher kind of love still. I think that's what we all aspire toward ultimately.
  5. where to start ?

My experience is only with Pure Land, and for an accessible introduction I would probably recommended Sukhavati by Wong Kiew Kit.
  6. Buddhism and spiritual protection

The difficulty with possessing spirits arises because they are often thought forms rather than energy vampires. Once attached, they fundamentally change your thinking, clouding your judgement and possibly leading you away from practice. To take refuge in Amitabha in those circumstances is not being uncompassionate.
  7. Buddhism and spiritual protection

I practice Pure Land, so my experience is limited. However I have found that reciting in my mind the nembutsu, Namu Amida Butsu, is extremely powerful in dispelling entities encountered through my qigong practice. Just twice this morning I had to fend off an attempt by an entity to latch on to my energy body. Each time it fled when I recited the nembutsu.
  8. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Thanks for the advice. I figured it would be a 'healing crisis', but to be honest I've never seen it in terms of emotional turbulence. I am going to give it 30 days before I switch back. Venus turned retrograde in my sign so that could be a reason too.
  9. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

Just given up the rest of my other practices apart from the nembutsu and practicing solely flying phoenix for an hour a day. Kind of an experiment. However this first week has been rough. Headaches everyday and my emotions have been all over the place, losing my temper easily when normally I'm very peaceful and try to remain compassionate in conflict. Anyone know what's going on? Is it just purification or is it a sign the practice doesn't agree with me?
  10. The Tao of Craft by B.Wen.

How do you mean loaded? With energetic messages?
  11. The Tao of Craft by B.Wen.

Fascinating subject, the book has lots of good reviews. Considering buying it. Would be interested to hear of reviews from bums.
  12. Flying Phoenix Chi Kung

I caught glimpses of a heavenly realm while practicing yesterday, with temples in clouds and celestial dragons. A blue light throughout. I have the sense it is a place possibly below the buddha realm, within the buddhist system. I practice Pure Land buddhism and the energy from the practice is somehow familiar. It's a wonderful system and I find I'm finding more and more time to practice it. I find warm up 1 works on opening the energy channels in my brain. I get a rushing sensation between the ears (must be the air passing through, lol). When I first started the long form I didn't notice much chi sensation. However I started to practice monk gazing at moon for five minutes before I start and the sensations are a lot stronger. I find it acts in a similar way to how zhan zhuang acts before tai chi. I was wondering Sifu Terry if its possible to practice FP while intermittent fasting. Is food a requirement for the practice in the same way as sleep is? Thanks
  13. Is 13 really an unlucky number?

My house number is 420, which according to my wife is one of the worst numbers in her native Japan. I use a vaastu cd to purify the house from time to time.
  14. Pine Pollen

I have been takin pine pollen for a couple of months now and have noticed a great effect. Has anyone made their own tincture from the powder?
  15. Supplements you use

You shouldn't heat honey or put in a hot drink. An ayurvedic doctor I consult with once warned me on that front as when heated it becomes indigestible and clogs up the body. But yes, love golden milk (although I do it the other way, but making a paste and mixing it with the milk later on).
  16. Breathwork and visualization in Baduanjin

I wouldn't say it was just physical exercise. My medical clairvoyant tested the standard Shaolin version as being extremely purifying.
  17. Qinway Qigong

I bought the DVD kit from Bruce Qi and watched it this afternoon. First impression is that the transmission is immediately obvious. The energy is intense. But something about her puts me off. Can't put my finger on it, maybe Im just allergic to transmission based systems. I get the same feeling (to a lesser extent) from Spring Forest too. I doubt I'll practice it again, and if anyone wants the DVD do PM me.
  18. Green powders

I was wondering what your experiences are like with green superfood powders. I went through a stage taking Tonic Alchemy by Dargon Herbs, but was wondering if you have any favourite brands or those you consider superior to Tonic Alchemy?
  19. Dreams Of A Soulmate

In my early 20s I had the same desire to meet my soul mate. Read too much Richard Bach as a teenager. Realised I was was just incredibly lonely. The 20s are a rough period. When I met my future wife she was nothing like I imagined. Down to earth, not interested in cultivation, but always warm, kind and tolerant. The perfect person to balance out my rash, head in the clouds personality. So don't be attached to how you imagine her to be. Don't seek after her, or you'll get hurt easily. Just have faith that when you're ready, emotionally, spiritually, she'll find you.
  20. Kundalini

Thelerner, as a fellow Wim Hoffer, have you heard any stories of kundalini awakening solely through the method?
  21. Reflect each morning on your own mortality. Reflect with gratitude each evening for the kindnesses of others.
  22. Celestial Buddhas and Bodhisattvas

As a Pure Land buddhist I would absolutely say that Amitabha has an objective existence. My understanding, from where I am in cultivation, is that the system is merely a process of letting go. Through an actual felt connection with Amitabha, you have a sense of yourself being accepted with loving kindness, just as you are. You understand that you are a limited being, and you slowly develop faith that by following this path, putting your trust in this higher power wholeheartedly, you will end up in the right place. Of course it's challenging and a gradual process to learn humility and faith. That's my understanding of 'other power".
  23. Green powders

Sadly not a great deal, but then perhaps the health effects are not always obvious. Pure Synergy is another one I keep hearing good things about, alongside Vitamineral Green. Do you notice a difference in the days when you don't take it?
  24. Qing cheng

Ran into this video on Youtube of Qing cheng quan six movements. Was wondering if anyone has practiced this style? Some more information here: http://www.kungfu-taichi.com/servlet/kungfoo/Action/Resource/ResourceKey/1502?/servlet/kungfoo/Action/Resource/ResourceKey/1862?
