Combining Falun Gong with other Cultivating Exercises.

Ralis, apologies buddy. He's an ayurvedic medical intuitive, so he is able to 'test' the effect a qigong has on you energetically. He's mentioned quite a lot on the Flying Phoenix thread. Site: http://www.ayurvedicintuitive.com/ I'm also familiar with the 690ad meditations that tao stillness mentions. They're on this dvd, sold by Dan LaRochelle. http://www.whitetigerkungfu.com/doo_family_690ad_meditations.htm

Eric has a gift. I don't know where it comes from, but it is accurate. He's been able to warn me off combining practices that previously have given me energy sickness and guide me on what practices work synergisticly. He's stopped me wasting time and money by following much vaulted practices that do very little, at least for me. We live in a world where (to paraphrase Li Hongzhi) pearls and fish eyes are mixed together. Having someone who can tell the difference, has proven an immense help for me.

Hi, Thanks for allowing me to join. I've been scouring the forums for a couple of years and I've finally figured out I needed to post an intro here in order to be able to reply! I've been practicing a very strict and high level qigong system for over a decade, but for several reasons it wasn't working for me, and I decided to put it aside. In the last couple of years I've practiced several qigong systems, including flying phoenix, sun tai chi and shaolin practices. These days my main practice is Shaolin Jingang Quan - an internal Shaolin form, and chanting the Om Mani Padme Hum. The latter has led to many blessings in my life, has connected me with higher energies and opened my compassion. I regularly use the services of Eric Isen, medical clairvoyant, for testing qigong methods and medicinal herbs for their impact on me. I'm very much looking forward to being part of the community! Zhuan Falun (Turning The Law Wheel)
Vajra Fist replied to EnergyGem's topic in Systems and Teachers of
Just as an aside the main practice in Falun Gong, above practicing the exercises and reading the books is something called character cultivation. Basically, whenever someone hits you or insults you, you turn the other cheek. More so than that, you look at whether you were at fault. Then you cultivate compassion toward them. That for me is something I still strive to practice and is something most of us should try to do too irrespective of religion or discipline. -
Zhuan Falun (Turning The Law Wheel)

Comparing Falun Gong's beliefs to the Buddhist source material is somewhat disingenious. There are bound to be discrepancies. In the Falun Gong practitioners view, Zhuan Falun is the primary source material. Practitioners are not practicing Buddhism via Falun Gong. Nor are they practicing Daoism. They are practicing Falun Gong. You can compare it to the discrepancies between proto Christianity in Judaism, and early Buddhism in the time of Bradmanism orthodoxy. There are theistic conflicts because it's a radical reinterpretation of the older scriptures. I don't practice Falun Gong anymore, but I did practice it for around 10 years. Funnily enough I now practice devotion to Chenrezig through the six syllable mantra. But I still have enormous respect for Li Hongzhi and Falun Gong. Anyone who gets caught up in debates over orthodoxy and theology misses the point. Falun Gong is about cultivating kindness, forbearance and compassion. It's not an organised religion, I practiced on my own for about five years with a loose social network of mates who also practiced. I'm happily married with children. My wife doesnt practice and Ive never really asked if shes interested. Its nothing like a cult at all. In the end it wasn't working for me, so I stepped off that path. I haven't had mad Scientology types banging on my door. I still meet up with friends who practice, and I can see that it works for them. I'm happy for them. I think the reason why Falun Gong gets a bad rep is because the new practitioners get a bit carried away and come on here. They can be insufferably dogmatic (sorry) and can seem like they are prothylising. But I think most of us here are broad minded and spiritually mature enough to not get into name calling or condemnation from up high. Live and let live. -
This is fascinating. Could I ask the name of this healer? How are the sessions conducted, over Skype?

This is what I found too. I seem to be gravitating more toward Buddhist practices these days as they are well trod and supportive paths to enlightenment. I've become a bit disillusioned with daoism recently and its (seemingly) 'sink or swim' philosophy. My main practice these days is the recitation of Om Mani Padme Hum, using the prayer wheel to magnify the power of the mantra. I also practice an internal Shaolin form called Vajra Fist: The DVD is pretty rare but I think you can still buy it here: http://www.shaolinnewyork.com/gear.html#!/Bodhidharma-Jin-Gang-Quan-DVD/p/56722023/category=0 Eric said this form: Would raise kundalini and give a lot of energy. Also clear the meridians and be good for the brain and upper chakras. Regarding the Mani mantra he said: The powerful sound of the mantra will clear the energy channels and stimulate the Kundalini energy to rise and energize the body. Obviously though, the results would probably differ for you. Some of the practices that tested well for you, like Damo Mitchell's Wu Xing Qigong, have tested very badly for me. Also some practices that tested well for me before, no longer test well. The funny thing is, these two practices are not even the most powerful ones he has tested for me. But the mani mantra in particular just feels so incredibly profound. It's the first time since I was a young Catholic infant school kid that I've felt the attention and blessings from a higher being. In the couple of months I've been practicing this, it's completely changed my life. I don't feel like I need to search anymore. By the way, I practiced Falun Gong for 10 years or so before I quit last year, and that is another system that I think has a lot of depth and power.

Tao Stillness, I've finally figured out how to post on Dao Bums. I wanted to say thanks for all your posts over the years and on the flying phoenix page. It was your experience that put me in touch with Eric Isen, who has provided me with wise and patient advice and led me to a practice that really works for me. Thanks for sharing your journey on here. You're an inspiration. Regarding Joe Lok, I also bumped into his qigong/tai chi method a few years back and was impressed with how graceful and serene it was. However slightly put off by how it was something he invented himself. Those sort of systems tend to work at the early stages of health and fitness but don't have a lot of depth when it gets to higher levels. Anyhow, let me know what Eric says if you get it tested!
