If we always were are and will be the Self, then there never was is or will be any ignorance to dispel. It only seems as if one has not known, for knowing is being, and one has at all times only been that which has never not been. The thought of awareness revealing itself, is just a thought. Even as pointers, there exists no subject/object dichotomy worthy of argument short of entertainment's sake. It's the only sitcom running, so just relax and enjoy the show. You wouldn't miss it for the world, even if you tried. All is as it must be, because it couldn't be any other way.

"Saving someone's life is like falling in love. The best drug in the world. For days, sometimes weeks afterwards, you walk the street making infinite whatever you see. Once, for a few weeks, I couldn't feel the earth. Everything I touched became lighter. Horns played in my shoes. Flowers fell from my pockets. You wonder if you've become immortal, as if you've saved your own life as well. God has passed through you. Why deny it that for a moment there-- why deny for a moment there, God, was you?" ~Nicolas Cage, Bringing out the Dead

To meet such a one is to meet oneself, yet one does not need a mirror, to be. Ironically, the "disconnect" tends to gain momentum upon an outwardly projected search, and thus a "Master" appears to direct one back from whence one came.

Diagram found on the albigen network. It's characterized as "a synopsis of states of consciousness and realization", and is aligned with Ramana Maharshi's commentary on the experience of Samadhi. Thought I'd share, along with some pertinent commentary by, Sri Sadhu Om. Mind in Sleep Kevala Nirvikalpa Samadhi Sahaja Nirvikalpa Samadhi 1. Mind alive 1. Mind alive 1. Mind dead 2. Sunk in oblivion 2. Sunk in Light 2. Resolved into the Self 3. Like a bucket tied to a 3. Like a river discharged rope and left lying in the into the ocean and its water in a well identity lost. 4. to be drawn out by the 4. A river cannot be other end of the rope redirected from the ocean

Indeed, although there is bondage even in the opposites of the dual/non-dual experience. If Self alone is, then I am not only without two-ness, but without oneness as well. The idea of finding whatever as problematic is also ego. That same slickster stays concealed, impersonating Self by talking about Self as 2nd and 3rd persons. A master on the "deep secrets" of veiling and unveiling if there ever was one. I suppose it is necessary within the illusion of communication through language with the "other", but the practice is to essentially be cognizant of falsely identifying with that primal "I-thought." The true renunciate silently drowns that imposter in the one true Being. Perhaps it's best if one never spoke at all.

Speak for yourself. Initially, we would be in agreement... However, it's primarily gross misinterpretations of what true renunciation actually is that cause dismissal of the direct path. Misinterpretations which are, upon closer inspection, introduced into our reflection/contemplation of the teachings by ego itself. Ego is quite keen on creating such excuses. In truth, it is nothing but subtle misdirection in pursuit of its self-preservation. Lack of sincerity is to blame also. Most don't truly want to be liberated from their bondage, and misery indeed loves company. I would say the 99.9999% are simply unwilling to actually give up their false egoic identity(no matter how much they tell themselves they actually do want to).

"What is not natural cannot be permanent, and what is not permanent is not worth striving after." ~Ramana Maharshi

"The rising of thought (the rising of the first thought, ‘I am so-and-so’) itself is birth, and the forgetfulness of Self itself is death. The mind’s phenomena of such thinking and forgetting is called samsara. When the mind, freed from its impure state of thinking and forgetting, stands ever holding on to Self, that is called the destruction of the mind [manonasa], which itself is liberation." ~Sri Muruganar

Me neither.

Interesting, a similar quote comes to mind. Ramana was asked a question along the lines of, "why?" He replied that this entire universe has appeared for the purpose of their opportunity to raise the question.

And some even arise to assume the role of purposelessness. All is fair game for the master idler. Moths drawn to the flame of extinction, those in darkness drawn to the light.

Renouncing the renouncer is the killer of all -isms. When 'I' and 'mine' are abandoned one becomes the life-force, incapable of harming oneself. True dharma is ever-present. Being self is the greatest help, and the highest dharma.

I'm 100% certain, that that guy who thinks he is measuring, is 0% qualified.

The sword of the tongue is double-edged, in the sense that its wielder is indeed injured along with its victim. However, there can be no inward turning without the outward. The rubber band stretches in all directions, and tends to bounce back into its original state. The times when it snaps, is that friendly reminder that perhaps one has pushed the limits too far into one extreme. Boundaries are being tested, and what a grand experiment it is. Where knowledge becomes folly and ignorance is bliss, I tend to opt for just being still and enjoying the show. Most people are completely unaware of my presence as it is.

The heart of the lessons in one's experience is often overlooked, and repeated with increasing negative reinforcement until one "gets it." Perhaps yours was a subtle message that most if not all "others" do not need or even want to be helped. One could espouse the philosophy of approaching this world with a rough hand and an air of snobby indifference with similar, although apparently differing, results. The reflection displayed in such exchanges may also very well be that which is required. It's all a matter of perception, thus there is no right or wrong way of being... Just being is right.
