  1. "He, who believes in the illusory as the real, will cling to the body in delusion."

  2. “It has nothing to do with effort. Just turn away, look between the thoughts, rather than at the thoughts. When you happen to walk in a crowd, you do not fight every man you meet, you just find your way between. When you fight, you invite a fight. But when you do not resist, you meet no resistance. When you refuse to play the game, you are out of it.” -Nisargadatta Maharaj

  3. Just as a stone, a tree, grass, paddy, husk, etc., when burnt, are reduced to earth (ashes) only, even so the whole objective universe comprising the body, organs, Pranas, Manas and so forth, are, when burnt by the fire of realisation, reduced to the Supreme Self.

  4. Close your eyes, "I am that", open your eyes, "which brings about this".

  5. "The true chanting makes no sound, and in real listening there is no hearing." - Zen

  6. As it is my presence, which is always here and now, that gives the quality of actual to any event, I must be beyond time and space. I was never born, nor will ever die. Nisargadatta Maharaj

  7. "Oh Marvel! This illusion, although expressed in multiplicity, is no other than consciousness-without-a-second. Ha, all is but pure essence aware of itself." (Abhinavagupta)

  8. Rays of the Absolute

Sorry to hear that. I suffered from a hyperactive thyroid once upon a time. In retrospect, it wasn't until I let go of being devious, began honestly expressing myself(telling the truth) and actually listening to people that I saw improvement. Eventually, I was cured. Have you tried a holistic(mind soul & body) approach? Not to say yours is as my experience, but perhaps there are underlying imbalanced psycho-spiritual issues contributing to and/or causing the discomfort. Anxiety? Self-victimizing? Or perhaps not. The true Guru diverts your attention inward. I think viewing this as something to be assimilated is inaccurate, although immersing oneself in the teachings can be considered devotional... but the way of knowledge doesn't necessarily imply an absorption of facts about theories and methodologies. This is a matter of arriving at an understanding of basic principles, which become catalysts to unravel the conditioned mind and all its erroneous preconceptions about reality... and ultimately, oneself. Thus the way of knowledge is the final stop, an undoing of the false "I". "You are the destination." The 3hr vid I shared is a Geeta or "song" for Nisargadatta, which is a combination reading of various sources along similar veins of thought, including the author's insights. I find it to be a very specific treatment for the ego, in that it has no place to run and must take a big gulp of nasty medicine. The Ultimate Medicine!

  11. True Fearlessness

Speaking of cinema, sometimes, it takes spilling the popcorn to remind us we're not on the screen. BOO! Fear can be fun, but fear can paralyze if taken too seriously.

  13. True Fearlessness

My apologies if Hindu philosophy seems to deconstruct your assertions into foolishness. But here's another tomato you shouldn't mind. Not identifying oneself with the body isn't to say one must neglect it or, as in your extreme example, move to destroy it.
  14. True Fearlessness

Well I surely can't speak for extremists on either end of the perceived spectrums many become so engrossed with.
  15. True Fearlessness

I'll offer a third way to "conquer" fear of death: The firm conviction/realization that the body is not oneself, which in turn renders any felt need to engage in battle as futile. All fears are eliminated once exposed for the illusions they are. While it may be confused as the evasion of reality, it is actually the evasion of delusion which exposes a false reality one is enticed to become immersed in.
  16. “Experience, however sublime, is not the real thing. By its very nature it comes and goes.” Nisargadatta Maharaj
