Generally it's like that. Many people speak only about low xin achievements.
-
All other descriptions of immortality are flawed here. if you are already immortal or "True self" is immortal, why do you keep struggle with this body and not go out? All other comments related to mind ground, universal mind and other stuff are just xin. xin is not immortal. it's just xin. The problem is that if you are not immortal, you can not really speak anything about it as it will be only your imagination + your gathered information.

It's like that. When you create yang shen from yin shen and emptiness inside you. It's like having new body which mind is adapted to it. Like you got new hand which you never had but it's natural for you to use it. Or like you develop a muscle you never had and now you can take up more weights. It's something natural but yet beyond natural. Mind seems have natural adaptation tand affinity to the forms or formless states it touch.

No. you are still the same, but your perception is just expanded. This can be only experienced if you develop high xin and yin shen. True reality is perceived thru yin shen, if you do not have attained it you can only image things like you do now speak without knowing it's first hand. Emptiness is where the xin is, if xin is very high you can perceive whole reality and be in touch with it, but this is still not yang shen, but you got insight into pre-natal energies with creates taji whuch are called wuji.

Immortality is not about afterlife. The afterlife is non existent. I will tell you what happen afterlife as I already have insight into this matter. Depends on your level of cultivation, but basic human being living regular material world will experience the feeling while dying in thousand fold. For example if you are good person you will be dying peacefully, some people call it karma but you do not have burden or regrets while dying so you will be reborn in higher realms which means you feeling of being good will be thousand fold for extent of time. After that your cease to exists totally. There is no more you, consciousness is gone. It will just expand and then contract and say bye bye. You will not remember you loved ones, your efforts, yourself or anything. Look at death as a bird eating the fruit. He will eat everything but seed will be there which can not be digested, so it's going the other side. Same with you and everybody else. In death (yin) there is a life (yang) so the yang seed is dropped so to speak, I can not tell you exact matter how it goes, but it goes like this. your yang seed develop another form, formless or whatever depends of it's quality which gains in this lifetime and others.

Immortality is attained when alive, you do not become immortal after life. That 100% sure and my experience, even with yin shen when you go out you know you are deathless in your experience as yin shen. If you die a regular human person you do not attained anything beside merits and better rebirth, but you are not "you" no more.

Any connection to the dead and death is yin, so I will answer for other one - it will not bring you achievement of ghost immortal (yin shen) as this practice is only exhaust your essence to give you some kind of experiences, it's not really developing practice at all. Yin shen beside negative revibration in the description of being ghost immortal is actually very positive experience and achievement for human person. On that level you are above most human cultivators, but you do not feel human as much as you used to. It's just comes to you that you are not human anymore in that form even if the body is there. It's positive because it's have still yang in it which you can cultivate and change into yang shen.

Immortality is as the definition of the word. Either you are living immortal which can live infinite or very long time in this body or you develop immortal spirit where consciousness is saved and imprinted so you exist in various worlds and travel thru them.

Effects and Signs of successful Jing Replenishment
SeekerOfHealing replied to Wells's topic in Daoist Discussion
You do not know what you are talking about. Do you think turtle changes it's DNA and that's why they living so long? No. I will tell you that you can reverse aging thru neidan, to a very young age even. Thru neidan and methods you reconstruct how your inner organs works and function and then every day you get younger, when they are reconstructed to work differently then regular human, you will actually live very long or even become immortal in the sense of you can not really age. -

Read Heart Sutra if you want to realize "desire" in context to enlightenment.
-
So you are looking for real Buddha which you will not find. Better study suttas.
-
You couldn't learn simple A-B-C without teacher and you want realize Tao without teacher? LOL. If you are the best teacher for yourself then why you needed whole society to bring you up to this point ? smh. new agies those days. Stay away for everybody who says "you are your own teacher" or "look into mirror" - those are narcissist who can not bow down to the real teachers who actually accomplished something beside nonsense uttering just to keep them on the same low level. The whole new age industry and modern spirituality is not about putting you higher but keep you lower thinking that you are going somwhere, but just to stick you in one ignorant place with all those funny and meaningless slogans.

The major differences between the three branches of Buddhism
SeekerOfHealing replied to roger's topic in Buddhist Discussion
I have my own practice and synthesis of teachings and yoked together the taoism with buddhism teachings - which many people do in history. The only teacher I think who teaches suttavada properly is bhante vimaralamsi. I sense couple people here who actually had insight into jhanas which is not bad. I would suggest to practice Suttavada for majority of people who are anyway padamparas so they would go into nibbana and cease to exist so they will no longer suffer and they have no need to rebirth (being endless in blissful realm). You can even achieve high results quicker if you understand that this reality if false and existence have no sense. You do not look for the sense of your existential process but you understand they have no substance or sense to make and then you can quickly "flush" yourself like a shit in toilet. All you struggle in life is generally for nothing, your family, money etc. is generally nothing and after you think you achieved something you are going to die and repeat same process. The most disturbing thing fr me is to experience lower realms or hell realms, so definitely everybody should keep watching their conduct. (or quickly pracitce Usnisa Dharani recitation to root out from alaya consciousnesses seeds of being reborn in hell) -

Suttavada = based mainly on Majjhima Nikaya as the only necessary source of teachings to attain nibbana while other nikayas are supplemental. It was old buddhist sect who was based directly on sutta without any interpretations or commentaries. Theravada = interpretations (mostly hindu like) of buddhism that's why most of theravadans do not even try to practice as it would take too long to attain even first jhana. Varjayana is very good if you have luck to have the highest teachings but you will never get them as westerner - forget it. You will be put into endless nyndro which is bs and other basic practices which are not needed for higher practices. (I have luck to have those and totally never did anything lower as nyndro etc.) -

Well we have a lots not natural things which works very good. Like chemical compounds, plastic, electronics. Feeling is based on personal judgement and pre-programmed way of thinking. For example if you would see happy person on the photos you would be feeling positive because this is how neurobiological reflections (which is on the front of your brain) works. You feeling have nothing to do with how the things are. I would rather say that what they doing it's just simple qigong which sometimes have results like that. -
There is no such thing as uncreated things. If something is not created then it's not existent.

because you have typical western mind. -
No. Kami have reals forms (sometimes funny) but they are dangerous.
-
No. No substance come later as there is nothing in whole existence which is real or have substance beside your imagination. Only few people in the world been in state of true emptiness (when whole world disappears, all people and everything) and there is nothing more to do. The whole work is done after that. If you think anything comes after that then you are making up things in your mind without direct experience.

Most of information here are generally okay from academic sense of view, but about Theravada - they are wrong in teaching way of jhanas that's why it takes life-times. Go for Suttavada and you will achieve in one life time the right experience of nibbana.
