  1. What does everyone practice :)

You are totally right. Following someone practice doesn't mean much. It is your own practice and the way you know it works for you. I hear and read many ways to meditate and it may me wonder why for some people work and others won't? I guess the response is the way you believe it.
  2. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 10

I read somewhere this chapter is also important about meditation and the concept of qi. Is there a reason why it was not mentioned?
  3. [DDJ Meaning] Chapter 14

I wonder why not much is said about the terms in this chapter: invisible, inaudible, intangible 夷yi, 希xi and 微wei and if those terms are used in other chapters or have different meaning in other aspects of Daoism?
  4. Acceptance

As I keep reading the DDJ and trying reading other Daoist texts, I wonder if someone has to say about "acceptance". It is true that death is a fact to accept whether we like it or not. Other facts, we can accept but some others as injustice is something I am pondering and have hard time to accept. Many people have been exploited for hundred years and still suffer from oppression. In some cases I would say is injustice but I don't accept. What's your take on this personally and from a Daoist perspective?
  5. Chuang Tzu Companions

I read often that Zhuang zi is fun to read and I wonder what it is that is fun material. Comparing with other English translations what is the interest in this book?
  6. Acceptance

So for you acceptance is all the same at the community (world) level as well as at the individual level (your personal fights for your rights for example)
  7. Acceptance

Interesting perspective and I appreciate your general input. Indeed, picking fights was one of the hardest issue I had in the past. The problem about black poisons, I feel that we are also responsible of what's going on as we contribute one way or another in this world. At the higher level, as individual, there is little we can do unless we have power at all levels, if not all is left is control what I can control. At the personal level, acceptance of what's going on in your world, I find that we are responsible of our actions and its consequences. On a different level, accept someone who hates me is not my style, I ignore them and move on in my life except that if you have to deal with them is not as easy thus no acceptance, i.e. ex in a bitter divorce.
  8. Is Tai chi fake?

Are we still talking about that? Don't need to be an expert in martial arts or have practiced some Chinese boxing or some exposure to sparring so you can see how this is fake in real street fighting or against a martial art practitioner. It doesn't work being flexible: there are so many variables in a situation that doing what I see in this video you will be knocked down in seconds.
  9. I think the problem is the English translation of philosophical and religious Daoism. IMHO, I would get rid of those western concepts and stick with Daojia and Daojiao or avoid the philosophical word to describe Daojia. Just saying
  10. Translators of the TTC

Have someone read Wang Keping translation from Chinese to English translation The Classic of the Dao: A New Investigation. Beijing: Foreign Languages Press, 1998. ??
  11. Is Tai chi fake?

Not sure my friend, I thought Korean belonged to a different linguistic family and not related to Sino-tibetan family branch. 안녕히 가세요.) Annyonghi kasayo. is quite different than zaijian or choykin: good bye. They are unrelated though Chinese had influenced their culture, it is my understanding
  12. Is Tai chi fake?

maybe this can help to understand different opinions not the hocus pocus we still keep hearing https://nysanda.wordpress.com/2017/05/19/are-we-in-a-downward-spiral-chinese-martial-arts-in-the-21st-c/
  13. Is Tai chi fake?

    Or is this fake
  14. Is Tai chi fake?

    is this fake?
  15. Is Tai chi fake?

Really even though the language is far from being close to Chinese languages.??
  16. Is Tai chi fake?

Here something that many people don't like to hear or don't want to hear or don't want to admit
  17. Is Tai chi fake?

Watch out it doesn't work always even if you pull a colt short or long range
  18. I have the impression that religion in the western concept doesn't apply to the Chinese term of jiao. For some reason I keep reading here what is in our mind not what the Chinese accept as a term or a concept.
  19. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

Thanks Dawei, it is certainly helpful. I also wonder what is that you or people in general like in those translations for you to understand the message or the understanding of those short stories? Has that helped to have a profound understanding from the original Chinese text or is it the language style translation that resonates better to you? And why they don't translate all the chapters from Zhuang zi? Just curious
  20. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

Thanks and I appreciate your effort in giving me some insight. What I want or what I need? I guess both but I don't want a reading that makes me sleep. For some reason I started reading Watson and after a few lines, I couldn't relate to the original line of thought. Maybe it is me. Not to mention Legge, it is too sophisticated to me. I will go back again and read some lines. My objective is to be able to compare the translation to the original text and being able to learn how to read the original text in Classical Chinese. Thanks a bunch
  21. Taiji Master fighting MMA guy

I have two options: 1. Just read and say I am impressed 2. Total useless As for the 1st option, I will lie or lie myself, not a a good Daoist, I would say, and as for the 2nd nothing he's showing is useless in real life, real street fight, real fight or competitive fight. It is amazing there still people believing in these fake demos and trying to impress with names as wing chun kyun all over. Be real my friend!!
  22. Zhuang zi translations recommendations

What did you like about this translation compared with the 3 I've been trying to read and understand? Thanks
  23. Taiji Master fighting MMA guy

Watch out he didn't have time to pull out his dim mak repertoire from a 游侠 youxia soldier of fortune novels. Anyways, you cracked me up.
  24. Taiji Master fighting MMA guy

I am not the only one to say he was a fraud and for what I have seen in videos, not convincing at all. Back in the days with no internet or video clips information, everyone would have been impressed but if you knew or have seen more than one style of martial arts then you would have had a different opinion. This is how we know better today and how we can relate to reality. Furthermore, novels and hearsay was quite common in Chinese martial arts for maybe 100 years. Back in the days before 1949 in China, living or dying in times of political, economical and social turmoil were though and not easy to everyone.

You gotta be kidding. This is an example that shows how fake and useless are those demos. Back in the 60's and 70s is what we used to see and I was never impressed of their techniques or touch of death. Real fight or sport fight doesn't work that way. Just take a look in this video clip the wooden dummy or the humans dummies, they don't react, they just get hit and slammed. This is the perfect example of videos or demos that give bad reputation to martial arts and don't even try any of that in real life otherwise someone or inexperienced fighter will whoop you big time..
