  1. Good old movie.

Thank You - it is interesting. I also remember that a similar plot occurs in the eastern parables. I can not remember exactly. It seems to be there was a magician who suddenly transferred a certain arrogant king to distant unfamiliar places and there he became an ordinary peasant, lived a long live and then under sudden circumstances he returns at the very moment from which this story began. This is very interesting, on the one hand this is a great tragedy for a person, and on the other - a person receives an invaluable experience and completely changes.
  2. Common history of yoga and qigong

I also guess that qigong and asanas in yoga do not have a common history. The only common thing is that they both came to the Western world in the twentieth century.
  3. Biobots

There is a video about it.
  4. Good old movie.

Have you ever thought that in reality the life of many people is like this "groundhog day". People go to work every day, to the store, go to the subway, go away from home and go back to home at the fixed time, and do a lot of other things that they have to do every day. Many people are burdened by their routine life. This film reminds us that no matter how boring everyday life is, it is always in our hands to change it, and everyone have ability to develop and change himself.
  5. What are you watching on Youtube?

    Very good chineese moovie.
  6. Why do I always feel terrible at 03:00-04:00am?

I agree with this advice, this is the simplest and natural way to solve the problem/ Shortstuff, I think in this situation it is very important to adjust the regime of the day. To get this, one day try to not to go to bed until the evening, and then lie down to sleep at 8 or 9 pm. Then you can wake up in the morning. Then try to spend the day actively, and give rest to your head at the evening . Avoid working at the computer at the evening, instead of it it's better to take a walk on the fresh air. Then you can easily fall asleep at 9-10 pm. So I would advise you to be more active in the daytime, and in the evening take the rule of early retirement. And then all these problems will leave You very naturally. Good luck. Sincerely, Paul.
  7. Good old movie.

Then everything starts to change: 6) Creation. The hero decides to be more attentive to people talking to them openly, trying to help them with their problems. Begins to treat people with love, take care of them. 7) Development. He uses his infinite time for learning: reading books, learning to play the piano, studying medicine, becoming a sculptor. 8) Salvation of people. Fil every day saves people from death and helps them in other troubles. His care abuot people helps him to soften his heart. 9) Transformation into kind of the "God of the day." Every day Phil does everything that can improve the life of everyone around. Life becomes full. Rita sees in him the ideal person and she falls in love with him. After that, the endless groundhogday is finally comes to an end and the long-awaited tomorrow comes.
  8. Good old movie.

The main character Phil (Bill Murray) selfish TV reporter, by the plot of the film hi is lives the same day in the small town countless times. Everything repeats itself at this day, and he is al e who able to change something. Phil passes through several states during this story: 1) Shock. He does not understand what is happening and sad because of his plight. 2) Riot and impunity. He understands that he can do whatever he wants with impunity: he steals money from the bank, tempts different women and so on. It ends when he could not seduce his colleague Rita (Andie MacDowell) - the main female character of the film. She gives him to understand that he is a hypocrite, an egoist and a spoiled man. 3) Despair. He loses the meaning of existence and tries to commit suicide. But each next day continues to repeat as before. He continues to kill himself day after day, again and again... 4) Apathy and indifference. Phil understands that even the death can not end this endless day. He starts to gamble, and idling day and night (for example, he is engaged in nonsensical things as throwing playing cards into the hat for several months in a row) 5) Revelation. Despair comes to the fact that he sincerely appeals to Rita and talks about his hopelessness. He opens it to her and she advises him to just enjoy life as she is! to be continued...

  11. Solstice Greetings

I hope this accident did not damage your dish Well, anyway You spent the day of the solstice much more vividly than I do (in every sense). And I did not have any technical misfortunes, no fireballs, no pork chops, not even the sun - complete correspondence with with the peak of Yin.
  12. Solstice Greetings

I do not. Actually i did not even see the sun - the Sky was 100% cloudy
  13. Solstice Greetings

In my country, the winter solstice is not celebrated widely. In truth, people who live in big cities do not remember this day at all. I do not know how things stand in other Western countries. However, in China this is one of the main holidays - Dongzhi Festival. (Originally from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dongzhi_Festival )
  14. mysteries of the blockade of Leningrad

It is really hard to explain. Perhaps this is the Fate and protection of Heaven.
  15. Solstice Greetings

Thanks for the greeting, the winter solstice is an important milestone in winter time. Here (at the north) the Yin has reached its peak and now yang will grow, and get everything closer to the end of winter rom day to day. There is around 100 mm of snow lie down over the past 2 days and now everything is white.
  16. The Case of the missing Trueself

Thank You, for the interesting article. I hear a lot of good words about Dr Pang Ming legacy. I found one mistake in the text: 220 pounds is not 440 kilograms, but about 100 kilograms. But even this amount seems to me quite fantastic! Previously I saw statistics of sugar consumption in the United State in 2010, there was an amount of 59 kg per year for one person, while in Russia it was about 35 kg. It is interesting to know - whether people in the United States consume so much sugar? I would be grateful if anyone of You who lives in the USA tell about this. Sincerely, Pavel.
  17. Biobots

Hello Lois. What tradition does the teaching of your mentor belong to?
  18. Brain Study and Tai Chi

Nice. It is positive. There are many references to the great healing effect of Tai Chi classes in China. It is very good when Western academics find their own confirmation.
  19. Harvesting Energy

Rolling on the ground it is fun. By the way, even just being in the mountains makes it possible to gain a large amount of energy to any person, and especially for those who are engaged in energetic practices. So you can separately take out a simple way of selecting extra energy: go outside the city, where there are less people and more nature, in the mountains is best. Relax, enjoy and practice. Sincerely, Pavel.
  20. You are what you eat

Yes, I agree with what. And I want to add that according to Chinese medicine, the abundance of sweet food is loading and weakening the spleen. The abundance of candies, chocolate and other sweets in stores, becomes the cause of excessive consumption of sugar for many people. Thanks for the interesting post, this is really interesting and useful information. Sincerely, Pavel.
  21. Methods of Inner Silence

I can not say that I'm watching thoughts. I just focus my attention on practice, on the body and on the work with energy. Thoughts are most often aimed at something external, and with time comes the understanding that its only interfere with practice. Then thoughts become more internal and connected with practice. I do not know how to describe it, they are in the body, in the energy. Thoughts simply change, they become harmonious and then the inner silence comes completely naturally. I think that pure mental work is more difficult to do during a long time and therefore it is difficult to achieve a result. And in working with the body and energy the consciousness automatically comes to the balance. This is magic!
  22. Methods of Inner Silence

Hello, thank you for an interesting topic. I have my own experience of achieving inner silence. I just started practicing a good qigong method. I began to feel that my thoughts were more and more calming down during the practice. After couple years, I achieve a state of inner silence quite naturally while I practicing, and later i can save it for the long time. Thoughts seem to stop and completely calm down. I really like this condition, it gives me a real rest, and after practice I always feel myself fresh and clean inside. I think what regular practice of harmonious method of energy practice should provide an opportunity to achieve inner silence.
  23. 张高澄道长 - Daoist Zhang Gaocheng

Thank you guys! It's inspiring to read your posts. Sincerely, Pavel.
  24. How much time do you need to recieve a transmission?

Traditional Daoism is not the religion, quite opposite it is always about the practice. Practice of Nei Dan it is the way of changes of human - the way from the regular man to the perfect one. There is nothing unusual in the fact that these changes are separate for the different stages. In each stage for achieve a particular result you need to practice certain techniques due the time period, and then begin to practice another methods to get the further changes. Everyone can have his (or her) subjective point of view, but the personal opinion can not be the basis for denying the knowledge of Tradition.
  25. Evgeny Torchinov is well known for many Russian people interested in Daoism. Many people that I know appreciate his work and respectful respond about the outstanding personality of their author. Recently, at one of the topics discussed at the forum, professor Torchinov was called an amateur by Taoist Texts. Therefore, the reason I decided to open a separate topic to introduce the name of Evgeny Torchinov for all members of thedaobums forum: ============================================================================================== Professor Evgeny A. Torchinov, Ph.D., D.Sc., was The Head of the Department of Oriental Philosophy and Cultural Studies (1998-2003) at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. He was born on 22 August 1956 in the city of Ordzhonikidze (now Vladikavkaz). His interest in Chinese culture, beginning when he was 13 years old, determined his future life and career. As a university student he studied Chinese philosophy and religion generally, but then added in special topics such as Daoist alchemy, Tantric yoga, Yogacara Idealism, Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism, and transpersonal studies. Professor Evgeny Torchinov was a tireless, painstaking, and prolific scholar, proficient in a variety of languages. Since 1980, he published over 120 articles and several books (in Russian, Chinese, and English). His productivity is all the more remarkable given the meager support and resources available for scholarship in Russia. With the fall of the Soviet regime and its restrictions on travel, professor Torchinov participated in conferences in China, Hong Kong, France, Israel, Germany, Japan, and Finland, as well as fulfilling lecture appointments in Israel and Canada. Evgeny Torchinov died on 12 July 2003. His many colleagues in Russia and around the world were stunned by his premature death. The loss of Evgeny Torchinov is a big loss for all who cherish the memory of this exceptional colleague his erudition, dedication, kindness, enthusiasm, warmth, humor, and humanity. ©(Shapiro S. I., Soidla T. R. The Fire Passes on: Evgeny A. Torchinov: A Tribute (1956-2003) // Journal of Transpersonal Psychology. Vol. 35, 2 (2003). P. 83-84.) ================================================================================== Professor Torchinov made a lot of great translations of classical texts of Daoist alchemy. He always tried to treat the Daoist tradition as a coherent whole, and paid much attention to various aspects of the history of Daoism, and the various aspects of his teachings. In addition, in the interpretation of Daoist treatises professor Torchinov relied not only classical commentaries, but also relied the later esoteric and alchemical tradition commentaries. I hope that now I clear the good name of Evgeny A.Torchinov. And now all forum members know more about the greatest expert respected by all Daoists in Russia (without exceptions) and around the world. _______________ Sincerely, Pavel K.
